The Stadium Devs thought of everything because this is actually the Second Stadium Game. The first one was a Japan Exclusove battle simulator that focused on real life tournament teams and didn't do much else. Many pokemon were missing!

thats what im saying. To this day im blown away at the "production" of stadium 1 and 2. It's not just nostalgia. Somehow they packed those games with more atmosphere and personality than the last few gens. I really hope this extra dev time they've been taking and them admitting SV had difficulties and we've been heard, means that gen 10 will be great. I'm also optimistic about the second legends game but I still think the first one was just a foundation game, not some kind of masterpiece that people claim it is. I think pokemon is many peoples absolute main franchise and their reference for incredibly well made games is narrow. So if they've been playing mediocre/bad pokemon games for the last few years then a game like PLA is GOT to them.....

fainting sucks and it's even scarier to end up wounded from it and having to go to hospital. i don't know the circumstances, but if you're starting to have fainting spells, being wary of the pre-faint signs is really important. i get close a lot but with knowing the signs i'm about to lose consciousness, i can avoid them most the time. it's really crucial to know so if it is unavoidable, you can at least prevent injury by getting close to the ground or other surface to sit or lay on. i hope it isn't a recurring problem for you or instantaneous lightning-strike type faintings... take care!

Also I had the same goof with the inputs myself, too. X is down C from what happened with my Prime Cup Run. Speaking of that if you aren't at that point yet - and for everyone else, too - the final battle in Master Ball has a MEW. The Gambler, who is the fourth battle, in Master Cup uses one hit KO moves. So watch out for that, too! Kadabra, Articuno, Zapdos, Jolteon are your go to Pokemon and the GOATS of the game for sure! Pika Cup is hell. I looked at Werster's speedrun of Stadium 1 and it's a good guide for anyone to look at, I suggest it a lot! It's been helping me a lot!

Yes, E-kans =P It's what my family has always called it for whatever reason lol Ek-ans has never sounded right to me to be completely honest with you. I do love Pokemon Stadium. I ALSO have many, MANY fond memories of playing this and Stadium 2 with my mother. She was the one that got me into Pokemon, Final Fantasy, LoZ, heck, games in general. We used to tag-team Stadium because I was her walking encyclopedia of the type charts and what types pokemon were, etc. And in Stadium 2, we did a whole bunch of those random battles against each other, usually as a warm up before going against the stadiums lol I know this was 3 weeks ago at this point, but I really hope everything's going better.

@@UnforgivenRonin imo the only hard part of stadium 2 rentals was the elite four, they were downright impossible without good RNG on all the fights. Especially Lance's Aerodatcyl since there isn't many rental pokemon who do well against it (at least the ones I was using).

I don't remember exactly but I think it's that when you beat all the stadiums then you can fight Mewtwo 6v1 and if you beat him, you unlock harder stadiums and Mew to pick in rentals. Idk what happens when you beat those but can anyone tell me? I've always wondered if you get Mewtwo unlocked in rentals

To fix the 256 glitch they made the game check twice to hit (so it would have to get 255 twice, making it a 1/65536 chance to miss an 100% accurate move)

Use rental Gengar as your "electric type". He's basically a cracked up Pikachu who can also confuse and sleep if need be. That special stat with tbolt is gonna kill alotta things. edit: ok you did, good.

BTW You can test if the AI is cheating with the NSO savestates. From what I can tell, they cheat when you pick your team and when you switch pokemon but otherwise don't cheat. Just remember to overwrite the savestate often so you don't lose progress on accident, such as after beating a gym or when on the main hub.

To make this Gym Leader Castle a challenge, you could make it where you can only pick each Pokemon once, as in once per gym. You have your initial six you pick for the gym and of those six you can't use them again on another other gym. Planning and strategy could become a problem the further you go.

Scyther is amazing if you can set up in this game. It's not as OP as bellydrum stats on a snorlax, but maxing evasiveness makes it near impossible to get hit while you have toxic(perfect for taking down tanky mons like snorlax and chansey), slash(guaranteed critical), and wing attack(stab and normal effectiveness against ghost which prevents stalling) for when you choose to attack.

Its nice to see a pokemon game that was made with love. The animations and moves look great. It makes me remember why I use to love pokekon in the first place. When this game came out and everyone marveled at pokemon in 3d I thought the series would just keep getting better with technology. Unfortunately with a few exceptions like colosseum it was mostly downhill from here.

There are days I ask myself "Why don't I play Stadium 1 for a change after so many replays of Stadium 2?", and then I remember about Gen I Wrap and load Stadium 2 as usual in the emulator. I think I never attempted the gym leader castle in this game. My memories of this one are mostly of playing against friends with rental mons, and the mini games of course.

Rental Jynx is an excellent Pokémon to use in the Gym Leader Castle. Psychic and Ice Punch plus its stats are pretty good. Since all ice types are special in this game, Ice Punch will be a special attack rather than physical. I never go without Jynx lol. Also a good alternative for Electrode is Electabuzz. Like Ice Punch, Thunder Punch is a special attack since all electric moves are special. It has 100% accuracy as well. Also rental Hitmonchan is laughable lol

Now THIS is real pokemon content. Is there a Gen 1 hack that replaces pokemon movelists with what their stadium counterpart would have to be AKA reverse level list? You'd probably have to force learning to make it meaningful otherwise you're at least incentivizing catching low-level pokemon

if you need some advice on some of the good rentals Ivysuar + Venusaur, Persian, Abra, Clefable, Persian, Golduck, Abra, Slowbro, Dodrio, Haunter, Voltorb, Kangaskhan, Mr. Mime, Jynx, Electabuzz, Magmar, Lapras, Vaporeon, Dragonair Jynx, Haunter, Voltorb and Abra are particularly strong. There isn't a lot of good physical attackers cause of how special works in this gen, overall I think the Stadium 2 rentals are much better due to better movesets, more choice and the special split. Zapdos is also good I hear, but I hate relying on Thunder. This means only about 8% of the Pokemon are good rentals :) , maybe 10% if you consider some not as good picks like Snorlax, Pinsir, Tauros, Starmie, Raichu, Scyther, etc (Some of these are pretty good picks, but have useless moves mixed in or low accuracy stab moves. Starmie is a good example with Harden and Swift, in addition to Thunder making it a little unreliable.)
