Actually, it is certain it is N because a moment later, the Grunt left the scene yet the flashback kept going on. So it is possible to say that it is N in Zoroark flashback. Cause if it were the grunt, the flash back would've ended by the time the Grunt left the scene.

In Pokemon B&W 2, if you go into Lostlorn Forest, you can meet a Zoroark disguised as a man. He speaks to you about how tricky Zoroark can be, gives you a TM, and reveals himself. Zoroark can definitely talk human language

Also in N’s castle, when you speak to N after he starts following you in Pokemon Black 2 and White 2, he says “I remember... This is the place where Anthea and Concordia took care of me as a human” LIKE WHAT HUMAN SAYS “I WAS ADOPTED AND WAS RAISED AS A HUMAN BY MY PARENTS” ITS SO OBVIOUS. Not only that throughout the game when Ghestsis gets angry at N, he always yells something along the line of “Stop acting like a human you freak!” Its basically a fact at this point

Ghetsis really doesn't seem like the type who would keep a captive child alive though. I mean, he even straight up disowns N after he fails to defeat you, calls him "useless," and admits that he was only using N to carry out his plans. If Ghetsis was forcing a Zoroark to follow his orders to keep N safe, why would there be a need for Ghetsis to admit that he'd only been using him? Wouldn't that already be a given between them? Furthermore, why even call a Zoroark his son in the first place? I can see why some might think the "captive N" theory makes sense, but I personally don't think it's plausible.

There is one loop hole in this theory:as seen in Zoroark Master of Illusions, if Zoroark is hit by an attack, its illusions are dispelled. In the anime, N is seen being hit by Reshiram. If N was really a Zoroark, it would return into its original form. Also, wouldn't N's siblings know about it? One of them tells you his origins, so why would she exclude the fact that he's a Zoroark?

The Zorua in the flashback absolutely did not grow up to become N; the player is able to obtain that same Zorua (with N as its Original Trainer, ID number 00002) as a plot event in BW2. The possibility that that Zorua is _related_ to N, however-- a parent, sibling, or other packmate-- is definitely plausible though. I don't think there being a separate "real N" is necessary for the theory, either, since as you pointed out yourself, N has Zoroark's pack protection motif going on. All Pokemon are his pack, and taking the guise of a human-- especially when brainwashed by Ghetsis as he was-- certainly seems like a reasonable course of action to protect them. I cannot for the life of me remember if it was random flavor text in-game or if it was something said in an interview (probably around the time N's full name was released if so?), but there is also a canon rumor that N may not be human. I had for a very long time taken that to mean some sort of related humanoid creature, like one would think of elves compared to humans (not that he would be an elf, but just as an example of the sort of similarity I mean). I imagined N would share this trait with characters like Yellow and Giovanni in the Pokemon manga. But now, that certainly does seem to be a very strong point for the possibility of being Zoroark.

In B2W2 in Lostlorn Forest there is Backpacker that after speaking to him he tells you about Zoroark, and gives you TM95 Snarl. After that he leaves, but in halfway his illusion is revealed, and we see it was Zoroark.

I don't believe that N is a Zoroark. The scene that is brought up isn't evidence of this. We all know that N has a Zoroark, the one that you follow could easily be the Zoroark within his own team just doing as his tamer/friend asks. As for N being raised by Pokemon and Zorua being one of those Pokemon. It's likely that Zorua went with N when he was "adopted" by Ghetsis. That would also explain the "scratch" marks within N's room. His background could also explain why he's gifted, why he's capable of communicating with Pokemon. N could have picked it up, like it was another language. Though its not likely. Or it could simply be the fact that N was born with the Ability, it doesn't make him a Pokemon. If Ash has the ability of Aura, how is N being about to communicant with Pokemon so far fetch?

I left this out: As for the memories that you see from Zoroark, it can be explained. Zoroark was in N's team, so once again the memories it has could also be it's memories of the time. Not N's. Pokemon are capable of understanding their trainer when inside their Pokeballs. There are many incidences where N asks to talk to your Pokemon in Black & White, since we can't see the Pokemon it's easy to assume that they are still within their Pokeballs. It's not hard to believe since we've seen Pokemon respond to their trainers, or thing's that are happening outside of their Pokeball in the anime. Since Zoroark is apart of N's team it's understandable for Zoroark to have those memories since it was present just within it's Pokeballs.

I always took N's association with Zorua and Zoroark to be because a Pokemon of that line was one of his foster parents when he lived in the forest. One bit of evidence to support the Zoroark N theory is that he has green eyes and a messy ponytail like a Zoroark. The thing is, the ponytail could have been a fashion choice N made to 'fit in' - this is going off the assumption a Zoroark helped raise him, and his eye color could just be a coincidence. The idea of him being a Zoroark is a fun idea to play around with in fanfiction, but in my book it's not canon until the Pokemon company comes out and says so.

Hey, Ovi! I've actually been studying this topic for a bit, and I think two important things don't get mentioned enough in theories pertaining to N being a Zoroark. You theory is really solid despite this, and it's not like you need these bits of info, but I feel like sharing some thoughts. Now, most people assume that only one Zoroark has to be involved in this theory (which you didn't since you brought up the possibility of more than one), but if we take evidence from B/W and B2/W2, we can note that there are at least 3 different Zoroarks and one Zorua. If you obtained the Gamestop Celebi, you can obtain a Zorua by taking to a little boy in the Game Freak building within Castelia City. It's stated that Zorua and Celebi are good friends, but why would a Zorua be so close to a Celebi? That, I'll leave up to you since I haven't really come up with anything significant. Moving on to the next one, if you take any of the Event Shiny Legendary Dogs to Pinwheel Forest, you meet yet another Zoroark and can obtain it. That's 2 separate Zoroarks right off the bat, who have a significant encounter with other legendaries. Of course some people think this was just a way to promote the movie, but even so, we can take it that the events in the movie have actually happened in the game, which adds even more validity to your theory. People can't deny what happens in the games are in fact canon. And the final one can be found in B2/W2. You are gifted N's Zoroark which gives us a total of 2 Zoroarks, and 1 Zorua. I also think that like you mentioned from the opening cut scene, this Zoroark you are gifted is in fact the one that raised N when it was just a Zorua. Where is the fourth? Well as you mentioned, that one is the one that leads you to N, or maybe even is N, and the other Zoroarks and Zorua have been playing along in the illusions this whole time. I think it's just too small a feat to be accomplished with one Zoroark. Heck, maybe even Celebi brought over some Zorua/Zoroark from alternate dimensions to save the current one you play in, and that's why Celebi has such a strong bond with the Zorua. Who knows? With all this evidence, it can be so much more than just N being a Zoroark and could make for something groundbreaking which I think you would be able to solidify.

Sacrados I wouldn’t quite go as far to say that the events of the movie happened exactly but more likely a parallel to those events. It’s kind of like how the timeline in the games is kanto hoenn johto sinnoh but the anime was kanto johto hoen sinnoh. Additionally events that span only a couple days (anime time) are usually mor drastically different than more significant and far reaching events. In fact, I’d argue that anime N isn’t a Zoark At the same time, I question the canonicity of in game events of that nature. Yes, they’re in the game but basically it falls under the same roof as cheat codes you basically rewrite the fabric of reality that sometimes results in some strange outcomes thatthat don’t hold true across the board. Otherwise there is some really generous person who can somehow encounter and catch mythicals, shiny legendaries and Impossible variants of a species of Pokémon in bulk and then just gives them away. Finally all the zoarks you mentioned have no connection to N besides the one(s) that all you said about them was their connection to N I would argue that it is just one... Ovi provided sufficient evidence that a single zoark CAN provide such convincing Ilusions

In anime, N got attack by two pokemon name Zangoose and Seviper, there was no illusions. It appears that N is a gifted child who has a heart of a Pokemon and he's a 20 year old MAN. Zoroark's illusions would ware off when it's being attack by three legendary dog like Pokemon. But he's not a Zoroark. If he was, I would laugh while having a mind blown.

I wouldn't put much stock into the whole "communicate through telepathy" thing. In the Pokemon movies, the focus Pokemon ALWAYS (well...ALMOST always - I'm pretty sure Latios and Latias couldn't communicate through telepathy) has telepathic communication abilities - even when another Pokemon of the same species introduced later on in the main show is unable to communicate in this fashion. Case in point are Pokemon like Lugia, Darkrai, and Lucario. The whole telepathic communication thing is merely a plot device to help push the protagonists on their 2-hour adventure - typically by the focus-Pokemon explaining their situation and the trio immediately offering their assistance. That's all it really is. As for the whole "how could the Zoroark have N's memories" thing, it's all quite simple - the Zoroark was with N at the time. We simply don't see him because he's in a Pokeball. Yup, a Pokeball - this becomes clear in the next flashback you show, in which a Plasma grunt asks N why he's releasing his Pokemon. Yet we see no Pokemon out and about with N as he's doing this. This would suggest that they are confined to the Pokeballs N has on his person when he's releasing them in Chargestone cave. Perhaps only temporarily (and voluntarily on the Pokemon's part), given N's personal stance on Pokeballs. Furthermore, I actually caught N's Zoroark on my copy of White-2. When he saw it in my party, he referred to it as his "old friend" and requested that I take care of it for him. This theory is little more than baseless speculation that holds up very, very poorly as there is literally no evidence supporting it. Seriously, all you've got in favor of this is that "Zoroark can transform into a human". Everything else is simple conjecture that can be easily shot down with the most base form of logical thinking. You're free to make of it what you will, but I consider this theory to be pure BS.

Max Dunham Hey Max, thanks for the well thought out statement you have made regarding my theory. Just wanted to let you know that I do read the comments and here is my counter argument regarding the points you have made. :) 1. From your statement I get the impression that you feel that Only pokemon that play an important role such as in a movie is given the power to communicate with humans( you can correct me on this if i am wrong) But that is not completely the case there are instances in the games where Pokemon have been able to communicate to humans as wel, Including Zoroark. I would suggest to read the section of game in this link bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Talking_Pok%C3%A9mon 2. As far as Zoroark being inside his Pokeball during the flashbacks, just like me you are unable to prove that, but that is perfectly fine after all this is what a theory truly is. The reason I say this is because N has been shown to have multiple set of Pokemon teams and Zoroark has been consistent in all of them. for reference you can find N on bulbapedia and his array of Pokemon teams. 3. I was not aware of N's Zorua in white 2, is he caught during a special event? or is he any random zorua and the game's response is to trigger this extra line of text when in your party? I know there are character specific Character Pokemon such as AZ's Floette this is why i am asking, but it does put a big hole in theory :P

Ovi Huh...disregarding the movies, there are a lot more examples of talking Pokemon than I had realized. Alright, I'll give you that one. As for your second point: while I can't prove N did or didn't have his Zoroark with him at the time, it's undeniable that, despite his disposition against them, he did use Pokeballs. Aside from the flashback I mentioned, there's also the fact that we never see his teams traveling with him on foot in Black/White. While you could argue that he's simply transforming into his team, this is immediately discredited by several facts: first off is the logical standpoint - if he were all of his Pokemon, wouldn't defeating only one pretty much K.O. his entire team? Then there's the choice of animation for Pokemon switching - rather than one of transformation, it's of the typical switching animation that's accustomed to trainer battles. And on top of it all, you can actually catch N's Pokemon in the wild in Black-2/White-2 and meet him a number of times while they're in your party or one of the PC boxes. Wouldn't this be impossible if he were transforming into them? So, while I can't prove whether he did or didn't have his Zoroark in a Pokeball with him at the time, I feel it's just as likely, if not more so, than him actually being a Zoroark. Finally, regarding you're inquiry, N's pokemon are not caught during a special event. They can be found in the wild in specific places (with an appearance rate of 1%) and are signified as N's Pokemon by a yellow-diamond, shiny-like animation upon their appearance despite not actually being shiny. Upon being caught their friendship with the player will immediately be maxed out, they'll have IVs of 30 in every stat, and a trainer ID of 00002 (possibly further proof that N had once had them in a Pokeball at some point). However, I feel that I must correct my earlier claim: I never actually caught N's Zoroark, but his Zorua WAS given to me upon defeating someone called Rood in Driftveil. I apologize for the earlier misinformation - sometimes my memory is a bit screwy. Good thing there's something like Bulbapedia around to correct me. However, for all intents and purposes, it would seem that N's Zoroark and Zorua are two completely different Pokemon as you can encounter the Zoroark in the house you showed us as well as blocking off a cave along Victory Road despite having Zorua in your party or a PC box.

Makes sense to me. Not to mention N's appearance supports it too. If he was found by Ghetsis in the woods, then why do they still look like they have blood relation? The young zorua likely created a form that imitated the appearance of his adopting father. But kept the pony tail that is synonymous with the look of a Zoroark.

What if, in desperation with a dying N, a zoroark used some sort of dark magic to place a curse on the boy, to convert him into a pokemon upon his passing? This can give credit to zoroark being a social pokemon that is protective of its pack mates and its territory. My best guess, is that the zoroark in question had lost one of its pups before, likely to a predator pokemon that killed it for food, and it came across a lost N? Likely, at an extremely young age. Say, around 1 to 3 years old. Maybe a newborn. When N passed, the curse took hold, and turned him into a Zorua as opposed to sending his spirit to the afterlife? So, after a while, using his new shapeshifting abilities, he wanted to free pokemon from the seemingly cruel fate of following commands from humans.

I like to think that N is a personification of Kyurem. As he states, he resides on the border between human and pokemon. He can't be completely labeled as an evil team leader or a rival/friend. He's in the grey area, similar to Kyurem's primary color. The anime gives him dull eyes that don't reflect any light which symbolizes his missing childhood that was stripped away from him upon meeting Ghetsis. This is paralleled to Kyurem's story entry and how its eyes don't have pupils unlike its counterparts. It's the absence of Reshiram and Zekrom. It's a husk that doesn't have the warmth of either of the previously mentioned dragons which makes it an ice type. For N, the warmth/Reshiram and Zekrom is, as mentioned, the childhood he was stripped of at such a young age. Upon meeting him in Chargestone Cave in BW1, he seems cold towards Professor Juniper and continues to act that way until you defeat him and Ghetsis only shatters his world more than you just did, leaving him speechless as his "father" rants and battles you. He was an empty shell at the moment until Ghetsis is taken away and he speaks to you one last time before bidding farewell. His acceptance of a grey world and you helping/befriending him is Kyurem fusing with Zekrom or Reshiram to become whole again. So TL;DR, N is best associated with Kyurem than Reshiram or Zekrom.

In many ways I am hoping that this theory is true. It explains some of the events more clearly and helps you answer the question: "Is N's Zorua his child that he would like you to take care of? or is N's Zorua an orphan that N would like you to take care of?"

I spotted a quick flaw: Ghetsis is pure evil. While he was disowning N, he could have mentioned N being a Zoroark to embarrass or make him upset. Again, why would you refer to some Zoroark as N if he had failed him? Other than that, the theory isn’t that crazy.

one interesting thing. If you remember in the movie zoroark switches back into it's true form after taking a hit from entei. Now to the black and white adventure in unova series. we see N take hits on multiple occasions. How come he did not change it he is actually zoroark. as we see in a copy form it cannot sustain damage from an attack.

This is a good theory, but there are a few flaws. A. Why would Ghetsis bother referring to the Zoroark as N if he had failed him. B. How could a Zoroark become the Hero of Legend. I mean, I feel it's fairly obvious by now that legendary Pokemon don't choose other Pokemon as their heroes. Plus, putting on a disguise would directly conflict with what Reshiram represents. As for the memories, the breeder was likely the Plasma Grunt with him, while Zoroark was probably with N while he was hiding. I do however think it's possible N in BW2 could be a Zoroark. Like maybe something happened to him. We don't see Zoroark on his seasonal teams after all.

id like to point out the fact that in the final flashback mentioned, there is a grunt. the breeder could be the grunt, as many grunts took up roles of 'regular' trainers eg. a hiker in the house where the ex-plasma members are in driftveil city.

I wouldn't say N held captive. But N is not even who we think he is. My idea behind this is the flash back of N with the pokemon in the forest is Ghetsis. If that was truly Ghetsis and Zoroark took on a younger look of Ghetsis. Then everything fit it to place just slightly better. Plus the goals of team plasma in the first 2 game I'm pretty sure a pokemon would like. Plus N sees Ghetsis as apart of his pack.

I've watched so many videos on this theory and can't believe no one has pointed this out. In black and white 2 when you go to the way top left by a tree stump there is a backpacker and when you talk to him he says stuff about how a zoroark once lived here 2 years ago. However when he stops and walks away there is a flash and then there is a zoroark where the backpacker was strongly suggesting that the zoroark was disguised as the backpacker. This little bit confirms zoroark are able to speak human language and take their form.

I think people are looking too closely at things. N could of sent out Zoroark to lead the player character and then it returned. Also Zoroark could of been nearby somewhere watching so you get that memory from his view.

I sort of believe this theory after black and white 2. The only issue was that Zoroark’s can’t talk like humans like the lady in losthorn forest, but black and white 2 proved they can. Also the Zoroark at the castle can’t be his because he released all his Pokémon after Black and white 1 besides his dragon.

Another small detail you may have missed or just didn't list it is there's a moment where you talk to a person in the woods in bw2 he talks fast exactly like N does and when he goes to leave he transforms into Zoarouk and runs away. This makes me think N being a Zorourk is much more likely just because that npc who's a Zorourk and N are the only npc with their words being said that fast.

Also guys I don't know if this happens in BW or BW2 but there is an NPC that you can talk to it and he will say about this how illusion power that Zorua and Zoroark have. He will say how people fear this ability and how they think that this Pokémon may not even be real. AND GUESS WHAT!!! Once this NPC is done talking with you he starts to go away but then in the middle of his walk...HE TURNS INTO A ZOROARK AND RUNS AWAY!!! Another prove that even shows up in the games that Zoroark can YES turn into humans and EVEN talk by just speaking using their mouths as we do!

In Black and White 2 there is a guy in Lostlorn forrest.He gives you TM snarl and the leaves, saying a zoroark had changed the appearance of the entire grassland luring people and Pokemon.Then he transforms back into the Zoroark he was and gives you a heart attack.

You forgot a piece of evidence of the Zoroark taking Human form. I forget the name of the woods, but they don't have much, though the description claims people get lost there. In BW 2 you talk to a human there who turns into a Zoroark and gives you the TM for snarl.

i highly support that theory, but what i think is, that the zuruak N uses to battle with is acually his mother. also N can speak with pokemon and gethsis (however is he spelled) referes to N as a 'monster' in the german copy of black 2 and white 2 a few times and how he raised him out of 'nothing'

Since the anime is not cannon to the games (and apparently every plot relevant Pokemon in the anime movies can communicate telepathically -.-) I will bring forward a different piece of evidence for Zoroark talking in the games. In B2W2, there is a backpacker in the Lostlorn Forest who talks to the player and gives them TM95. This backpacker in then revealed to have been a Zoroark in disguise.

I don't know. I think N really exists, but at some times Zoroark makes an illusion of him. Wouldn't Zekrom/Reshiram know in the games that he'd be a Zoroark if he really was? They would never choose a Zoroark as hero, would they? :) I'm pretty sure at certain times Zoroark takes N as illusion, but if it really IS N? Nah, I don't think so.

I know this is an old video.. but one thing I want to point out. The breeder can be the plasma grunt that was with N in the flashback, which would trigger it. Scratch marks.. N probably plays with his Pokemon friends all the time. and can someone explain how can you get N's Zorua and still watching him have a Zoroark? Also Reshiram/Zekrom could easily tell if N was a illusion Zoroark. Example. You can get a Zorua from a in game event, but you need a Celebi for this. In said event there's a location with two girls, one apparently lost, if one talks to them with Celebi it will come out of the pokeball and the lost girl will turn out to be a Zorua. Good theory though. very entretaining.
