There's something about camping like this in the dead of winter. It would be almost certain death outside of the thing fabric walls of the tent within hours. Yet there you are, inside a small, warm hub of comfort. Fire churning, food warming, light and some basic comforts of home. It makes the word cozy an understatement. Thanks for taking us along with ya

@2H80vids4 жыл бұрын
Exactly. He's not trying to prove anything, just enjoying himself. I get the whole "survival" thing but if you've got the gear with you, why not use it? He used the car to get to a beautiful spot that he like, completely deserted, and rather than get cold, wet and dirty, why not just camp beside the car? He knows how to treat himself too, a decent bottle of Scotch and a gourmet(ish) meal. He even "roughed it" a bit by using a plastic cup.👍 Works for me, just subscribed. Cheers from Scotland,🥃 Dougie

I was unaware of of hot tent camping until a year ago. I think it's a fantastic way to spend a couple of hermit type days. You've got nature's television (the fire) and food. Oh yeah, booze too. What else do you need? Well, pussy's always nice, but what do you do with the broad after those five minutes are used up? Oh yeah, put her back in the box she came in 'till next time.

Your pop up tent is the style I used every day for years as a cable splicer in Alberta to keep warm or dry when I have to work at one location. I think I was an expert at how fast I could unpack a 10 by 10 and set it up, which is hard because it’s bigger than this tent, and you have to pull the center part of each wall very abruptly. Never forget the hotdogs. You can forget some stuff but as long as you have the dogs, buns, and mustard, you can be a hero. Could have done the Montreal smoked meat on rye and plenty of beer.

What model of tent is that? Also, a couple comments/suggestions: 1) bring a small bathroom mat, and lay in on the ground so you don't get wet socks from standing on snow 2) get a good cooler, and some water bottles. boil the water bottles and prewarm the cooler, then boil some water bottles and lay them in the bottom, cover with a towel, and stack your food on top. layer so that stuff won't melt, like cheese. This'll keep your eggs (etc) from freezing. It'll take some tries to figure out how many bottles work for your cooler. I enjoy camping, and when it is cold, it can be a lot of fun. you should try it on the ice, so you can fish inside your warm tent, and cook 'em right outta the water.

You need that ovaltine coal, that burns for hours and mixers with wood to get it going. I would use a double skin tent and have thermal insulation fixed on the canvas.

Once I spent the night in Holton Maine, during a blizzard, when it was -13. No stove, no tent, just my sleeping bag a cot and a tarp. Camped that whole winter. It was fun!

That fireplace looks similar to the ones we used in mobile units in the US Air Force. Cool!
