It’s unfortunate LA County Board of supervisors voted to delay the implementation of the new conservatorship law (set to take affect January 1, 2024) that would allow this person and many others who have mental health and/or drug addiction problems to be committed against their will for up to a year. The new law represents the biggest change to the law that opened the insane asylum passed by Ronald Reagan administration.

Schizophrenic often use drugs to block out the voices. It's only when they hospitalized these people that they can start to treat the underlying mental illness.
