Cop shootings in the US are blown out of proportion, certainly there is always room for improvement but to suggest that is the US's biggest problem is a bit silly. I would argue our biggest problem stateside is political polarization and media sensationalism. Bit of an anecdote so take it as you will: A family member than ran a dog rescue group got slammed on media for stealing a dog because he was a bad, awful, evil person when in reality it was a false report by neighbor and ended up slipping through the cracks (I dont remember the specifics). The media never apologized for lying about him, they made their buck off ruining his life and his business failed because of it. After all who wants to do business with a guy who would steal a families dog, people that knew him did their best to clear his name but word of mouth only reached so far. While the scale is off I think media of every level is like this in the US, rushing a story for a quick buck and assuming the worst of people. (Made mobile, sorry for the mess)

@@lawryteos2230 Huh I didn't realize it was that strong.

@@evasmojang It can definitely be a strong smell if someone is intoxicated enough. Growing up with an alcoholic father, I didn’t even have to be right next to him, just in the same room, and I could smell the alcohol coming off of him. Sometimes he didn’t even have to speak in order for me to smell it. Those officers were DEFINITELY close enough to smell alcohol on someone’s breath if they were significantly intoxicated. If you watch a lot of DUI bodycam videos, it’s extremely common for cops to put in their report that they detected a strong smell of alcohol on the person, which in addition to the person’s reckless driving, was what gave them grounds to do sobriety tests and ultimately make an arrest. Alcohol has a very pungent and strong odor when a person is heavily intoxicated, and as the other person mentioned, the intoxicated person is almost always completely unaware of it. In addition to seeing if they could smell any alcohol on a person’s breath, these officers doing these traffic stops are also asking questions to see if they can detect any changes in speech patterns (like slurring of words) or altered mental states. They are also going to be watching the individual’s eyes to see if they notice any ocular abnormalities caused by alcohol. When properly trained, there’s actually a lot that they can discern from that one brief and simple interaction/question, and seeing if they can smell any alcohol from the person is one of those things.

Yeah, it only makes the biker stand out more. In fact, I'm surprised the law doesn't make motorcycle helmets required to have lights on them in order to stand out more. I have seen so many videos of bikers almost getting hit by cars because the driver claimed to have not see the biker. This is exactly why I planned on buying neon green or yellow jacket, helmet and pants if i ever started riding a motorcycle. I already put reflective neon yellow tape on my bicycle helmet and all over my bike when I go out riding.

@egg-roll89684 жыл бұрын
@@Haroon5 lying only works I'm guessing if you've not drank anything in a while at which time it's likely out of your system or under the limit, I used to work with a drunk unless they took shots when no one was looking which is doubtful (less breaks I guess) their breath stunk for hours. Chances are if you're DUI worthy drunk you're not thinking enough to cover up your tracks so you're car likely would hint it if your breath didn't. I'm sure a few can successfully manage the lie to a cop, but over all as much of a inconvenience and potential legality with them it's possibly the best and fastest way of getting DUI drivers off the street. Maybe not with criminal charges but tickets and points, and enough of those will keep them of the road (hopefully). I've been a LEO for 16 years, I can tell you that it's a grey area because if you have the lights flickering that's a ticket for unlawful operating of emergency lights, if it's flashing blue or red that's impersonation of a LEO and that's a felony. So it depends on both sides.
@aaronb79492 жыл бұрын
Police should be encouraging these lights, they increase visibility of riders to other motorists and pedestrians, red and blue LED's aren't copyrighted by LEO's, the company could circumvent that altogether by just making them RGB and programable to any desired colour which would sell more product, add more variety and alleviate concerns by LEO's that the lights are impersonating LEO/emergency response lights.

I’m a retired officer and if I saw a cool bike or car, I made sure to first make the driver feel safe, let them know my intentions was to compliment the bike or car, and not any type of enforcement. I met a lot cool people that way and I am still friends with quite a few. As a cop the best days was talking to people in the community and learning from them.

Usually the reason lights on vehicles are regulated is to prevent other motorist from mistaking your lights for emergency lights. Texas, where I am from, use blue and red alternating. Some only use blue. The secondary reason is to prevent confusion. Red on the front or white in the back may confuse motorist as to your orientation.

They can't force you to take the test (at least in most places) unless they have reasonable suspicion.
