I look forward to your videos every Monday and now every Friday. My grandparents left Poland and moved to Brazil right before the war started, around 1936, my mom was around 8 years old. Fortunately, my grandmother continued to make Polish foods. So when I was 7 years old, my parents moved to the USA. My mother didn't make many Polish foods so I never really learned how to make them. When my grandmother would come from Brazil from time to time to visit, that's when I really fell in love with Polish foods but at that time I wasn't interested in learning how to make them. I think I have made just about every recipe you have. My children no longer like to eat store bought pasta and chicken soup, rosol has a new meeting. Your foods taste exactly like I remember. Thank you so, so much for sharing, it brings me good memories every time I watch.

About 12 years ago, I was in Opole (Southwestern part of Poland) for my Erasmus exchange, and the carrot salad was served along with chicken schnitzel and buckwheat at a student diner called “Quchnia”. Later on it became one of my favorite salads and I came up with my own recipe: shredded carrot and apple, instead of sugar+lemon juice i opted for either orange juice or mandarine juice, and i also drizzle a bit of virgin olive oil to enhance the flavor. For the bowl of carrot salad you prepared, i add about 2 tablespoon. 😁 Also, we enjoy the other 3 varieties of your surówki in the Aegean part of Turkey as local dishes, but with slightly different ingredients (main ones are the same of course). Thanks Anna, I’m now craving for the carrot salad at night. 😂

I personally think you are the best Polish cook on TV! I love what you do and how you do it. I am of Polish descent (I’m a POTOCKA)), and from time to time I cook Polish dishes? I like the fact that you have prepared and presented so many Polish dishes. I find it so handy to go to your recipes when I feel a little confused or unsure. Because like my Mum, I tend to do everything off the top of my head, so, there are times when I find myself in a spot of bother. Great work, Anna! Greetings from Australia!

I discover Polish Food in Brooklyn NY. I live in NY, so it is very easy to go to the Polish neighborhood. There is a variety of food and sausages, but my favorite of all favorites was the cheesecake, oh, that was a piece of heaven to my palate, and the beetroot soup, delicious. Oh, and I forgot the cheese blintzes! if you have a recipe for those, maybe you can put it in your channel Thank you for showing your recipes. Polish food can be complicated for the amount of time you have to be in the kitchen, but you make it look very easy. Thank you for making your cooking fun. Not sure if Goulash is Polish, but I am sure I ate a Polish version in one of the Polish Restaurants in Brooklyn, and it really is delicious.

Ask Mark if he's ever had "Snickers" salad before? Kind of an upper Midwest favorite, not exactly a healthy salad, but it does have apples in it? It's considered a dessert salad. I do enjoy creamy cucumbers in the summer... sliced cucumbers, onions, half & half, vinegar, sugar and pepper. It's sort of a salad. It's almost like your celery root salad, but with a dash of vinegar. I'm not a fan of Miracle Whip either. Take care!!!

You don’t need to run boiling water through the leeks, you just salt them and add lemon juice and stir it well together, then let it sit for a while. The sharp taste is the leek juice, this will be extracted by the salt and ‘chemically cooked’ by the acid of the lemon juice, and the leeks will stay fresh and crisp. Same goes for onion in raw salads. Also, if you are going to refrigerate the salads for a couple days, it keeps better if you don’t add the cream until just before serving.

Classic insight from my polish girlfriend ( Anna - popular name in Poland) Check out 18:14- Anna uses knife in an unsafe mode (cutting toward hand) Mark makes a "be careful/worried" sound (something like orrhh!!) Anna says: Cicho ! ". Which means ... (be) QUIETT ! In Polish In this case it's So good to have an interpreter. Obviously Anna is " a spirited girl" - like my Anna here in Australia Dear Mark I share your experience - she is a good women For other subscribers - I hoped you liked the insight into a gorgeous loving couple in a natural moment They show us real life in Poland As Mark said in a previous vid - communication can be a challenge in polish

I notice you added a squeeze of lemon to your salads. Mexicans use limes I'm wondering what is the difference in taste. Is an ethnicity preference depending on the country?
@PolishYourKitchen3 жыл бұрын
I would assume that the reason we use lemons is were available from time to time to add some acidity to our food. Limes on the other hand were not available in Poland until after the fall of the Berlin wall. It's not something used widely as we didn't have them. I think the lime has a more potent flavor that may not compliment the salads like lemon would, but I will admit I never tried. If you do, let me know how it worked out. Thanks for watching!
