A suggestion for you to pass up the flagpole: Rather than making a traditional ad, what about creating a series of short “films” (30-60 sec) that together, show a broader story? Each ad would be like one episode of a TV series, where there’s 1 or 2 issues that are resolved within that shorter time frame; the same characters appear in each ‘episode’, and an overarching storyline unfolds over time. The political sphere has merged with the world of entertainment, and this type of ad would reflect that change. The ads would show the present (what life is like under Biden), then a future with Trump winning the election (😱🤯) The actors could talk about issues in the same way the voters encounter them: as one component of their everyday, lived experiences. Example of an ad series: Ad #1 could show a newly married couple struggling to pay the bills, maybe with the TV on in the background that mentions Biden being at the opening of a manufacturing plant. Then the couple could be going over their finances and open an envelope they thought would be a bill, but is actually a rebate check because they bought an energy-efficient X (appliance/car/solar panels etc) under a program in the Inflation Reduction Act (no idea if such a program exists, but you get the idea). Then the scene could end with them deciding that it’s time to start a family. Ad #2 could show a positive pregnancy test, the couple being excited about the future, then worrying a bit when they realize Trump won the election, but more as an afterthought because they’re focused everyday life. Ad#3 could show the couple rushing to the emergency room because the wife realizes that she’s bleeding…only to be accused of trying to abort her own baby and getting arrested. The husband could say that he didn’t even know abortion was illegal in their blue state-only to have the arresting officer say that President Trump just signed a nationwide abortion ban into law the week before These scenes are just ideas to show you the overall idea-they could be applied to a variety of different political issues, in so many different settings and circumstances. Hopefully by the 3rd ad, people will start to recognize the characters and get invested in their story lines in the same way the audience gets invested in characters on a TV show. Ads need to show how abstract political ideas will affect the everyday lives of Americans, because at this point, most people just tune political ads out (even if they’re well executed). The only way to get people to stop and actually imagine what life might look like under another Trump Presidency is to SHOW them that future in an entertaining, engaging medium. Hopefully you could pass this idea on to the powers-that-be! Thanks for show today!

I think the problem with these ads in general is that they are from a "default" experience which just happens to be that of white, college educated Americans. The diversity is superficial and doesn't really match with my own lived experience, or those of people around me. As Marshall McLuhan would say, "the medium is the message"; these messages need to be disseminated where people are, like in talk radio, in whatsapp messaging groups. Social media is a good start, but there are a lot of medium-sized language specific media companies (much like PSA) that have a lot of power over their communities. Republicans, for once, have made great investments into Hispanic, Vietnamese, and other small media. Democrats need to shore up their own base and stem the bleeding.

This is my armchair quarterback moment (I'm not a political analyst, so feel free to tell me my idea is terrible) this is the kind of add that would work for me: give voters a run down on all the chaos and scandals from the Trump years that they've forgotten about. Just remind people of the exhaustion and stress that was every day for four years. Cap it off with Jan 6th. People tend to give the past a rose colored hue, we can't afford to give the terrible things a pass just because there are shiny new scandals to focus on.

The risk of running ads like that is a lot of people see them and just think “ughhhh I’m so sick of hearing about Trump Trump Trump” and they’d prefer to see ads that talk more about what the candidate (in this case Biden) is going to do for the country, rather than rehashing old scandals and drama that everyone is exhausted from.

David Plouffe saw the most important thing in the green energy ad. The ad fails because anyone that is worried about paying their utility bills does not have a nice thermostat like that. Yes! Put “crap in gold toilets + screw workers” in an ad. Right-voters are their own referees. Groceries have shrunk by a third, prices are a third to double the price. Have you ever seen a price rollback or products give you more for your money? Utilities have doubled or tripled, as have gas prices, but wages haven’t risen to meet the expense-not much of a mystery why people are not feeling the benefit of the “stronger” economy-they’re worse off. At least they can work 2 jobs instead of one-not much of a selling point.

You are so correct! Save, invest and spend for necessities and a few small luxuries relatives to on's total assets ratio.

Sorry but this is arbitrary and old fashioned political BS. "You cant convince ppl the econony is better than they think it is" - that's nonsensical. It sounds smart - but is very, very stupid.

Fuel was three dollars less in California under trump

In 2020, no one was working during the pandemic, so gas was lower --- the law of supply and demand The former guy had only one major bill that gave tax cuts to corporations and the wealthy, that the middle class and working class hadn't noticed, and which added 3 Trillion alone to the National Debt, with now absolutely nothing to show for it after the former guy's administration had mishandled the Covid response. Others here will search/type: " Biden's accomplishments as President "

Fuel hasn't been under $3 a gallon for decades, and Presidents have very little ability to influence gas prices anyway. Oil companies are making record profits, blame them for seeing what they can get away with and getting the ignorant to blame the people in office.
@Avendesora Жыл бұрын
As we all know, the people who actually own and operate the oil companies are at the mercy of the president. If he says to lower it, they have to lower it, and they will do whatever the current sitting president wants without question. What? That's stupid? Huh. Weird.
