Under current immigration laws, her parents likely would not have been admitted, or at the very least, they would have needed significantly more paperwork to do so. Is there not some hypocrisy there? Her father fled a civil war and increasing hostility to people of Indian origin in Kenya - which is VERY similar to what most of the current refugees are fleeing in Syria and Afghanistan. He wasn't shipped off to Rwanda. His treatment didn't require the breaking of the European Convention of Human Rights. Even if we agree that we need to reduce the number of refugees making channel crossings, surely there are ways of doing so that don't require human rights violations?

@@willnicholson18 only problem with that is that there are no real routes for legal immigration, this Conservative government has shut them all down, that’s why illegal migration is spiking. Regardless of how good your claim is unless you’ve got several suitcases full of £50 notes you can’t get over here to lodge your claim. The entire illegal-legal migrant divide is a fallacy at the moment because all non wealthy migrants are now illegal migrants - that’s a very important part of this governments reactionary policies, made as concessions to the ERG. In fact the irony of the situation is that the government could in effect stop the tidal wave of small boat crossings by opening up a processing centre in France (which is something the French have previously said they would allow us to do) so that we can process claims in France, and then send small boat crossers back to France to be processed and denied. However, the government refuses to do this because it would open an avenue for immigration and thus allow legal immigrants to exist, which is the complete opposite of what the Conservative government has been doing since 2016.
