Thank you for making this video! We are having to watch our wallets quite a bit this year and this was very helpful! I also had a very silly/quick question. We planted lettuce this year and washed and ate some only to find that BABY SLUGS were still on it that I missed! :( I have no clue how many I may have eaten. Has this every happened to you and is that something I should be concerned about? We are washing the lettuce in salty salty water from now on I think but man...it was gross... Thank u

Excellent suggestions and greatly appreciate the budget friendly plants, as well as your thoughtfulness on not being focused on "selling" to your audience. I just joined the channel to offset that. 😉 I always breeze through the clearance section of bigbox garden centers. The crispy, flowerless star jasmine I bought for $7 a month ago now looks as good as the ones selling at full price. This could be a good way for people to save money on perennials.

Great demo and discussion of annual color. I have a large berm with landscape cloth under the mulch (which I refuse to replenish - crazy expense and no need). The mulch is quite old and pretty decomposed. I get tired of having to rip up the cloth every time I want to plant up more of the area. How do you think annuals would respond to your method of planting right into the added compost? I figure if perennials send new growth up and through the cloth, plants should also be able to send the roots down through the cloth. Most annuals are fairly shallow rooted, right? Thanks for the great tips and suggestions. Cheers!
