I admire what you do with the VW Polo. I have a 9N as well, and what I'm looking for the most right now is how to roll up and roll down the windows using the remote instead of putting the key in the door. I hope you can find a solution, and I'm eagerly waiting for that day.

This one is harder than it seems. Apparently it is something in the car's software/ logic that does not allow the remote to make this feature work, just the lock cylinders. It must be related to the comfort module. It is possible to update the module to make this work, but I have never wanted to give it a go... maybe one day I look into it more :p

@@albonicool It's only possible with the polo 9n because the windows are still controlled via the Can-Bus system. In the models like 9n3 it dosen't work because is a Lin-Bus system. Pratically you have to check some adresses and change the configuration via VCDS. I can't post all 15 adresses because probably they are recognized as spam from youtube. The forum post is for the skoda fabia but it's the same also for the VW polo 9n

Hey mate, Are you planning on making a video about changing the radio to a double din system? Trying to replace the radio in mine and can’t figure out if my head unit is busted or im doing something wrong!

Hey. Haven't really considered that. In fact, the only thing I have considered is swapping out my current radio for a original one that has Bluetooth retrofitted to go for 100% OEM look. My use case is mainly short drives with no need for navigation, so I am not sure I'd look at a system like that.

Correct, but you'll also need to have the new remote key cut (just bring it to a locksmith with the existing key and they can duplicate it) and you'll also need to transfer the immobilizer chip from the old key to the new one.

Hey man, I got a polo 6r but it doesn’t have remote central locking but comes with the manual key (with the light) to change to the remote one all I have to do is cut the key and change the immobiliser??

Not 100%. I have read online it denotes the hardware / software version of the module. My original module was H/S version 02, but replacement was 01. Both seem to work fine with the car.

Please report back if the H/S version 2 works, there is someone else with this qs too. And tbh I don't know what else should be connected, but in my case leaving them empty had no consequence. I have seen other forums online where they advise to leave empty too.

From what I found in a German Forum: The main difference between H01 and H02 modules lies in their communication protocol and compatibility H01 communicates entirely via CAN-BUS and is suitable for Polo 9N models up to mid-2004, before VW transitioned to a different system. H02 is designed for newer Polo models that use LIN-BUS communication, making it compatible with vehicles produced after the mid-2004 update It could be that the H02 is also retrocompatibile but I'm not sure and I don't find anything about it.

Great video! do you think it's possible to modify it with to un/lock with a button press on the side handle like modern cars? I know it'll probably requires additional modification but it's pretty neat

It's something that would be nice but as far as I know is not possible without really modifying the coding in the car. I've not been too keen to try that and it is fairly low priority for me, but will for sure make a video if I do that.

I believe the lisence is stored in the cable, so you need a ross tech cable for the software to work with all its features, but the application can be downloaded regardless and I think there is a VCDS lite, essentially VCDS with limited functions, they can be used with a generic cable.

hello mate i’ve just looked in my car to locate the ccm and it’s completely different to yours it’s facing the other way and looks like a pain to take out have you got any ideas on how to remove it

I'm sorry but not really without seeing it for myself. Generally if something is really hard to get at I prefer to remove other things that are in the way. It may take a little more time but overall makes it easier and lowers chance to break things...

Just did my rhd one tonight, that housing is the worst. Ended up cutting the plastic brace in the middle and sliding it out the side after unplugging. My hands are now covered in scratches from everything else under there. I honestly don’t think there was any other way I could’ve done it without taking a lot of the electronics out.

@ when doing mine i sort of managed to slide out the clips into the bigger slot that allows it to just be pulled out but it took a long time a lot of cuts but now if i were to change it its as easy as it gets just sliding it out

So this engine isn't new and was around in the early 2000s, but was not in any OEM Polo or Polo 9N. I would guess there were manual transmission as we're most VAG cars at this time.

If the module is working I cannot expect it is the "wrong version", nor am I aware that the version should matter... I would say google if something could be impacting the range. If you work it out please share so we can learn from you :)

VCDS is a software made by Ross-Tech. I think there are a number of registered sellers. Personally I live near Germany and bought mine off www.vcds-shop.de/. Cost for most basic package was 300 Eur. This allows Basic functionality on unlimited VINs and advanced functions on 3x VINs. There is a free (lite) version of VCDS for basic functions. Some cables are cleared for unlimited VINs and can be bought used on Ebay, especially for older / slightly slower cables.

I have a Polo 9N3 from 2006, and I tried to replicate everything shown in the video. I successfully configured a new key and replaced the module ending with 'E,' exactly as demonstrated. However, the last step involving remote pairing didn’t work for me. Both methods-using the key in the door and via VCDS-didn’t allow me to lock or unlock the car remotely. It seems there’s a missing step specific to the 9N3. Currently, I’m checking whether it’s a coding issue. The only clue I have is the error message in the 'extra' field: 'Steuergerät Fahr. antwortet nicht Steuergerät Beif. antwortet nicht.' In this state, everything else works fine: I can still open and close the electric windows and lock the car using the physical key. So far, no issues have been caused by this change. I’ll update if I manage to resolve it for the 9N3.

I found the error and was in the configuration. For the error the polo 9n3 has the Lin-Door modules so the code is 16 for 2 doors and 18 for the 4 doors version In my case 2 doors with 16 solved the error in VCDS.

Not sure. Maybe start by checking if the comfort module is in the same location and the same spec. Additionally if some better spec Lupos has remotes from this era, the answer could be yes. I would first investigate that.
