My bike is HERE! Dope bike. Super easy to assemble. Although I'm not sure I nailed it on the handlebars though LOL. It has a nub on the front forks that says 'preload'.. with + and -. What does it do specifically? I know thats where you inflate the shocks but can you tune anything with that nub?
@JaredRMorgan4 жыл бұрын
Happy for you! So on the D5 that chamber is not for air, but rather there is a coil spring in there. The preload knob allows you to adjust how stiff the spring is. If you watch my part 2 trail test of the D5 video, you’ll see I ended up maxing out that preload adjust because I had bottomed out the fork a couple times.

The one I rode was a large. In my experience, I prefer the smaller bike when I’m stuck between two sizes. If you have no intention of modifying or upgrading your bike, get the xtrada. The spec on that one is actually pretty sick. The Siskiu D5 is a really awesome bike, but in your first couple years you may put as much as another grand into it in upgrades to make it more capable.

@JaredRMorgan4 жыл бұрын
So some people have quick tips and tools to make this “easier,” but in my experience there’s no replacement for aligning the caliper by eye. The caliper is secured to the bike by two bolts normally held in place by a 5mm Allen head. You’ll loosen those two bolts and the caliper will begin to jiggle. This is when you can try to start aligning it to the rotor. I make sure I can see light passing on both sides of the rotor from both the front and the back of the caliper. Once i see it’s in line, i begin to tighten the bolts carefully a quarter turn at a time alternating between them....That way it stays in alignment. Keep going till the bolts are nice and tight. Then you should be good to go.

I see an inherent issue with going to a local bike shop and possibly looking for a replacement hanger. I’m a little more afraid of these bikes now more than before. I’d probably suggest buying a lifetime supply of hangers when purchasing the bike. Other parts shouldn’t be an issue to buy aftermarket. I have not tried Wheels MFG for hangers yet. Just ran across a add for 2021 Polygon sku 5 for $605 Cnd funds with tons of up grades,,, to many too list off,,, everything has been changed out and it's still a chunk of junk with rear wheel flex due too twisting on the top hanger rods... For those that crank off road stuff... The KZbin clip a person can see the forks bottoming out,,, $500 buck's right off the bat to fix that issue. Ruffly another $5 or $600 to address the garbage stuff. New Poly D5 $1300 Cnd funds out the door $500 to $600 to up grade forks Up grade brakes,,, shifters,,, Derailleur,,, grips,,, pedals,,, Droper post... Why not spend the $2800 for the bike that will really work. Take a Poly 5 off road, feel the disappointment... Trail rider yes,,, off road trail rider no. Bet 10 too 1 that most riders will out ride the quality of it in the matter of minutes... Then all the work to get it up too speed.. Just saying is all...

@JaredRMorgan4 жыл бұрын
If you watch my part 2 video for this bike I go over a few upgrades. I think your problem is from not having a clutched derailleur to keep things from going crazy. I bet swapping out those components would settle the issue.
@phaserider6314 жыл бұрын
@@JaredRMorgan The d7 is well worth the extra $600. This is a great bike, but beginners should understand how "worth-it" the upgrade from d5 to d7 is. Both fantastic bikes, though.
@JaredRMorgan4 жыл бұрын
The argument could also be made beginners should learn how to work on and upgrade their bikes. I don’t think you can go wrong either way. It’s like KevCentral says...buy the most bike you can afford at the time.

If you’re referencing the brakes, yeah hydraulic is an important feature. Their stopping power is superior to mechanical disc setups.

Is it possible to fit 29 wheels in this one?

You could potentially swap forks and make it a mullet bike with a 29” front wheel, but I doubt you could squeeze a 29er rear wheel in the back.

The bike is solid and my Ebike conversion went great. kzbin.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Very smooth ride at 30mph with no problems (135 miles ridden so far). The picture is a bit deceiving - there is WAY less space in the center of the frame than it shows. The suspension connection takes up the entire thing. So I needed to attach my battery on the bottom of the frame and my controller on the top. Instructions for assembly were lacking but honestly it wasn't too hard to figure out even though I have very little bike knowledge. Watched some youtube videos on adjusting the disk brakes but that was it. Still, I am loving it and very happy with the purchase.

The D5 is good value, but Polygon is over hyped. For example, when looking at the D7, the Giant Stance is the better option.
@JaredRMorgan3 жыл бұрын
I disagree just on the premise that I would never buy a full suspension bike with a quick release rear axle. You would be hard pressed to find nice wheel options moving forward. Now, the D5 is quick release rear but i give it a pass since it’s just over 1k. Giant is knocking on two grand with the stance and it’s not thru axle. That’s a bad look in my opinion.
@Scottslookingabout3 жыл бұрын
its a bike I might consider, but the paint scheme has no cool factor at all.
