What was the total cost of the upgrades you did to this new bike?

My D6 upgrades: Raceface grips Chester pedals Maxxis Assegai 29x2.5 tires SLX front brakes with 200mm rotor Rockshox Pike fork Works great! Next upgrades, PNW Loam dropper lever, frame protection, fenders, and another set of wheels (for light trail use). Great bikes!!

Very nice. I got a D7 a couple months ago and did similar things (minus the fork). PNW Range bar, slight riser stem, Loam dropper lever, helicopter tape, new tires (tubeless). Digging the bike so far. Hard to beat for the price and, well, actually being in stock.

Can you fit a 29 x 2.6 tire in the rear?
@thim80093 жыл бұрын
On my n9 I double face tape a bottle cage on outside of down tube and use straps to hold in place then I can use up to a liter bottle.

I bought an xtrada 5 (hardtail 2x10) late last year. I changed the pedals and grips. I'm happy with the seat. The front fork is SR Suntour coil spring. It wasn't lubed and the preload adjuster was damaged. I lubed it and have ordered a new adjuster. I also am trying to get a softer spring. I was starting to give it a bit too much of a hard time on rough trails so I recently got a T8. The pedals seem OK. The grips are OK but I might get some of your lizard skin north shore lock ons. The seat is a bit harder than the Xtrada seat - I'll see if I get used to it. The bars are flat bars - same as on the Xtrada - I've ordered 25mm rise bars. I spent a few hours playing with the suspension settings using the Fox guides.

Buying a new fork and wheels would have cost you more than the price difference with a D7 SE which comes with a better boost fork. Bought one a few weeks ago over a D6 for that reason and happy to be riding my stock bike!
@mtbboy19933 жыл бұрын
Pretty sweet build, but I would add an oval chainring and a bash guide. And out other mudguards on, I prefer Mudhugger.

Like I said my other comment I'm ordering the D6 SE and they added a boost fork it's not a Air fork but it's still boost spacing 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@rgmtbАй бұрын
Totally agree! Even if the fork is not stellar, having the boost spacing and not having to buy a new front wheel if you choose to upgrade the fork is worth it! Nice dude! I really hope you enjoy your new bike!!!

I'm thinking about ordering the polygon siskiu D6SE One question I have is the front and rear suspension upgradable cuz I will do that eventually?? I'm really interested in the bike I was going to order it on the 20th of this month November EDIT I COMMENTED AS THE VIDEO WENT ON AND I MADE THIS COMMENT BEFORE I SEEN YOU CHANGED OUT THE FORKS BUT THE D6 SE THE ONE I'M GOING TO ORDER COMES WITH A BOOST FORK UP FRONT WITH BOOST SPACING
@JamesRobertMTB3 жыл бұрын
Love the colour scheme of this!! Haven’t seen anything similar to this 😍
@richarde1355 Жыл бұрын
Beautiful bike! The Siskiu offers a lot value. Somewhat of a silly question; to the extent the front hub is non-boost, is it safe to assume the rear hub is also non-boost?

What is the weight after the upgrades?
@arty50342 жыл бұрын
I’m in Australia and finding it hard to find non boost forks to upgrade my D6. I see your later video with the non boost to boost upgrade kit, but wondering if you (or anybody else) knows some non boost, tapered fork options better than the stock fork? I've seen some but the offset is 44mm, as opposed to 51mm for the stock fork - not sure if that would effect the geometry negatively though.

if you realy want to run a boost fork with a non boost centerlock hub you can still use a adaptor kit with a 6 bolt rotor that bolts straight to your centerlock 100mm spacing hub. these kits should be about 20 dollars.

I'm loving my D6 but would go for the D7. Here's the thing, the lack of the big gears on the D6 is a bummer. Hey Gene. Thanks for the content. I just got a 2021 D7 and was wondering about the back wheel. So you talk in your video that for the front you needed a new wheel to accommodate your new fork. But it wasnt super clear about the rear. Does the rear on this frame have enough space for a boost wheel? Thanks
@huskerfan33523 жыл бұрын
Yes the d7 comes with a boost rear just not the front

Bubbles in film: mix up dish washing liquid in water, about as soapy as you’d do dishes with. Spray both frame and film so they’re soaked. Apply and wipe bubbles out with cloth. Easy. Also do this for any decals, phone skins etc - let’s you slide them round for perfect alignment too.

I would agree with you big time but the company that makes these frame stickers said to put them on dry. Trust me, I agree but I was just following the instructions.

Great vids, thanks for your hard work! Quick question please, the D6 fork, how would it compare to an even lower end coil fork? For example, even though the fork on the D6 is not great, is it still a step up from a Suntour XCR 32 coil with 120mm of travel found on some Polygon hardtails? Keep the party on the pedals!!
@rgmtb2 жыл бұрын
Good question. The stock fork is certainly better than those coil forks. It might not be great but it's better than those.

i might be wrong here..but you probably could have bought the next model up or even better by the time you upgraded? AND since you didnt do it over a LONG period of time making it maybe more cost effective ?? I know upgrading is fun though :) but it was something i was just thinking when watching. Im glad you got it how you want though. NOW i wanna see some trails! I wanna see you getting RAD!! lol..yeahbuddy!!!!
@chrisjones72813 жыл бұрын
Sometimes that IS true, however I too picked the D6 over the D7 because even though it had better spec, the parts it had also I would upgrade. The same with the T7. The Recon fork on those bikes has steel stanchion and is very heavy while only being a little better than the suntour on the D6. If you don't plan to do upgrades then starting with the better model makes the most sense 👌 .Otherwise lower the cost of entry and build how you like😎
@LaredoHandyman Жыл бұрын
I'm guessing you spent a thousand on upgrades. Couldn't you have just bought a $2500 bike that was already to your standard? I just ordered this bike. I have very little experience on modern mountain bikes so I hope I'm happy with the forks on this one. Tires and pedals etc. I don't mind upgrading if needed.. Great channel btw!

So you want from an 120mm fork to an 140mm fork. Has that had any negative effects with the geometry

Any thoughts on upgrading the front and rear shock to 150mm granted the bike’s angles?
@rgmtb2 жыл бұрын
The rear can not be upgraded to any more travel than it is. This is a frame design thing and that is the limiting factor. As for the fork, 150 is really to much travel for this frame. I'm not saying you technically can not put a fork with that travel on this bike but it's just not right. If you are looking for this kind of travel you should look at the T or N line bikes.

Thanks for the video, Can you fit a 29 x 2.6 tire in the rear?
@rgmtb2 жыл бұрын
That might be a bit tight. It would really depend on the tread. I'm confident with 2.5 but a 2.6 with wide knobs on the side might be pushing it. I will say that there is WAY more room than most bikes. Also, the 29 pushes things out some so it's gonna be a tight 2.6 fit. Sorry I can't give you a sold on that one.
@fengcarlos2 жыл бұрын
@@rgmtb Actually thanks for taking the time to response. I ordered the bike but I really want to fit a Rekon 2.6 in the back. But if I cant its not a big deal.

The rims are tubeless ready but you still need to buy stems and possibly tires. I say possibly tires because there is a shortage of parts right now and I'm finding tires my differ on your bike.
