Very good job of making the properties of various polymers more understandable and easily remembered through excellent choices of metaphors.

Marc, Thanks for another informative lesson! Take care of that bronchitis! You're retired. The weather is good. It's time to do stuff outside, to travel, etc. If your videos slow down a little, no problem! Enjoy yourself! Have a good one! Dave

Golden content as usual Marc however I wish there were a few warnings about the humorous comments as they usually coincide with my beverage being exhaled out my nose. Salut!

So if I understand correctly, some plastics, once going through a 'chemical' change is permanent, (epoxy resin or Bakelite), whilst others can be reduced back to their original component and reused? Great stuff.

Charles Hendry Hi Charles, you are almost wright!. Once monomers are polymerised into long chains (polymers) they cannot revert back to monomers. polymerization is irreversible. However some polymers (the ones that are made up of chains that have no lateral links) can be remelted (thermoplastics). The spaghetti example demonstrates why heating makes these thermoplastics flow like a thick liquid. If however the long chains are cross linked (thermoset plastics) the material cannot be melted and remolded (Bakelite, epoxy ...). I hope this helps, thanks for watching! Marc L'Ecuyer
