Polyphemus is so based! (also 32 Fear time) - Run#49 - Light Commentary | Hades 2 Early Access

We are back from our break! Immediately we're starting the 32 Fear, and not by our choice mind you. We merely feel compelled to take the Oaths. I decided we start on 32 Surface because I may need help warming back up to the Hades 2.
About Momus, you'll see I may be underutilizing it. I thought you could place on Omega turret at a time, but what's actually the case is, you may place one of each Omega turrets at a time. Meaning you can place Omega Attack, Special, and Cast, but can't place multiple Omega Attacks. Based off of me trying to throw multiple Omega Attacks and failing, I surmised only 1 Omega turret could be placed at a time (which I'm wrong).

Funny they don't have meaning, but still holds powerful effects. Askion Kataski! Good to hear! Hera deserves her moments. LOL Zeus makes it easy for me. Ooo, ya know, you're right it was a miniboss lol Fish and hook patterns are so cuute! Hera exerts her mean girl aura naturally ^ Polyphemus could totally go to a con and pass as a son of Poseidon! You know, that's weird! if my memory serves, it was likely Charon. Zag asked who keeps giving new weapons when he returns, and Skelly gives an unsatisfying answer. "I was minding my own business, standing, and then WHAMO!- By the time I came back, the job was done!" (paraphrasing). But it makes more sense Nyx would have access to the weapons. Demeter gauntlet and Hestia with the rail sounds so raw, I would pay money to see them with it again. Bowpoint! I considered gunpoint because the rail existed but suppose there's not many of that.

Just a heads up: if you have both Gale Force and Arctic Ring, Demeter's casts will apply Origination by themselves - Chill and Freeze are different status effect. She's a really good god to have for this exact reason.

I began to notice both debuffs under the guardian bar! it's nuts and convenient ^ I was wrong about Demeter for the longest time. I dare say she seems as mandatory as Hera if we're putting gods on a tier list.

I only know that Hero Heracles, Doctor Asclepius, Princess Psyche, Princess Ariadne, Prince Triptolemus, and Prince Ganymede became immortal deities and lived on Mount Olympus because they were loved by the Olympian deities. 5:23. OH BOI 32 FEAR RUN! Hera telling Meli not to help Heracles to is very Hera, I can tell the voice actress had fun playing her. Also Oooooooo! Apollo Mana Gain! This is gonna be a fun run indeed! I've very much come around on Apollo mana gain, it's not the best, but it pairs really well with Demeter, as well as his own Omega Casts. Zues complaining about how watchful Hera is, is top tier comedy, very good writing as always SuperGiant Games. Very good indeed. Especially since Zues is (almost) never the one who gets comeuppance for his unfaithful dalliances. But they are Gods, and he is the strongest, Hera's few attempts at actually making Zues pay often times backfire, or don't work simply due to his power. So she lashes out against those she can lash out against. It would almost make Hera pitiable, if she wasn't also a horrible person and malevolent Goddess who threw her own child of a mountain. That ambush was dumb and the game now owes you a Death Defiance. Wtf! "Strong" Marriage. Right Zues. Good cover. "I may eat human flesh, but I ain't about eating kin" - Polyphemus, Based Cyclops FIRST 32 RUN WIN! LETS GOOOOOO! TAKE THAT ERIS! Great Hades Below, every single line of dialogue where Zues has to talk about Hera is comedic gold, "Yep, that's my Rock Hera, Super Rocky! Just love to be nestled between her crags, that's how much she's my rock... yeah... A Rock... Stiff and uncomfortabl- I MEAN I LOVE MY WIFE YES!" Never change Zues, you bastard 🤣 I feel like the Gods being kinder to one another is more a factor of circumstance then anything else. I've come around just taking what mana gain I can, and Apollo is starting to be an acceptable choice for me ^ I've been less reliant on Omega Cast compared to when I started hades 2, so plopping the cast down for mana regen hasn't been a downside. The dynamic between Zues and Hera is hilarious! We know they'd be at each other's throats after Meli leaves the room. I'll be ready for it next time. I can't believe they spawn and begin attacking before I could process the threat. The "What?" as I exited out made a lot of sense after the fact. otherwise, that was craazy!!! I've been liking Poly more and more. Yay, we're back with a good start! 32 Fear toot toot! Hera described as a rock is probably accurate ^ but does not feel like a compliment at all LMAO. I would agree about them banding together during rough times! But then the trials made less sense to me. Start of the game, there was a lack of Trials, and as much as I missed them, I thought it totally made sense story wise. But when they came back, I was pleased but also confused? Trials seemed to be treated as a silly bet between two gods during Hades 1, but Hades 2, idk what it could mean. Anyways, I'll take those two boons tyvm! Shadows conceal you!

Wait- that Fourth point needs to be talked about. Ganymede became the god of homosexuality? and Zeus picked him up as an eagle because he was handsome? I have so many questions, and it's the perfect month for the occasion. I did a bit of searching, and, huh! It seems to be their approach with these stories of gods and mortals to take a balanced approach, where both sides contributed to the conflict. They did this in Hades 1 as well. Main difference here is that in Hades 1, the gods had beefs (beeves?) with gods, and the mortals had beefs with mortals. Here they're mixing them up a little.

I like this take ^ I dare say Hades 1 was rather tamed, but only because Hades 2 exists as a comparison. The blame was placed between mortals regarding their issues, and gods screwing with other gods was the factor. We can't say the same for Hades 2, the story is more complicated! For the mortals, we are asking for the gods to consider revoking their respective curses, which definitely will offend the hell out of them. The gods are waging war while shouting how they'll punish the mortals when all this is over. There's much greyer conflicts going on, I'd be impressed if the story could wrap itself nicely because this is tough. Hades 1 took an interesting route tying it all together, I'll say that much.

Honestly beating Eris, 1st try at 32 heat R-E-S-P-E-C-T ! I think that Zeus does love Hera it's just that, he is the kind of dude that enjoy to cheat! Honestly Hera should become the godess of divorces and find herself someone who respects her by what she is, a KWEN. Polyphemus litteraly killed himself RIP he wont be remembered.

Thaanks! I did not expect it myself considering our early loss of Defiances. Zeus needs to keep himself in check ^ Hera having business with divorce would be sick imo ^ if she could agree a relationship isn't working out or is unjust, she should give blessings to end it. My only guess why that isn't a thing is because cultural you're pushed to maintain a marriage, even if it's ultimately harmful. KWEN! LOOL poor Poly.

For Frinos, Soul Bond (more Shades) and Life Bond (more Max HP) are the best options, as his Strength Bond (deal damage from landing on enemies) is slow and inconsistent. If you plan on feeding Toula, you may want to improve the healing from the Death Defiance Toula gives you.

Thanks Copy! i was thinking that particular order gives the best return ^ combat just doesn't seem practical from the familiars, especially the types of damage you dish out on your own. Unless the pets do similar dps, they're better off as convenience for farming.

Was there a mention of Heracles slaying Lernie by Hades 1? I recall Zagreus asking for Heracles in Elysium, so he definitely made a name for himself then. Idk, I imagine baby Hermes actually managed to snag a full grown cattle lol. We've only seen Meli as a baby from the painting. Crazy to imagine they've been quiet for under 18 years for Meli to be ready, but at the same time, dialogues do corraborate with that ^ Zeus taking many years to notice how quiet Hades' been and Artemis complaining how much reports she has to do and little action as a Silver Sister. All this implies many years of the same thing as passed. Sending flowers for Lernie* First and last family dinner! The dynamic between Selene and Medea already sounds fire. Double the eclipse!!! Well, it's still just one eclipse, but imagine!!! Ty! I'm very proud of every bug report. I had to think it was a reference to something. But otherwise, it felt like Zeus was held hostage, forced to say good things about Hera. and a rock was the best phrase to summarize their marriage lmao. It could be! it's just in Hades 1, it really did feel like fun family banter back and forth. But ig it's different with Queen Hera. Ah crap, that's gotta be the hardest challenge yet. @@Hamstir4 how we know that Heracles killed the Lernean Hydra? Well, simply because it is THE Lernean Hydra! THE Hydra from Lerna. There is no second Lernean Hydra. Also I checked, and Heracles in mythology needed twelve years to do his labours? Did they just... staple some years additional years there, or is Melinoë twelve? ... #ChronosPause :)

The way you used that first death defiance, it really feels like the game smote you. One wonders how Zeus has been so successful with women when he compares his wife to a rock 😒 Re: the gods being more wholesome: it seems important to the Olympians that they present a united front to Melinoë--for example: we understand the irony of Zeus' and Hera's comments about each other, but I think it's flying over Melinoë's head. And it's not even just the Olympians: we understand the undertones of Circe's comments about moly, or why Nemesis hates Narcissus, or that Hera is the one who cursed Echo, etc, but Melinoë doesn't. She's remarkably unaware of everyone's relationships/past with each other (except for broad strokes, like the Trojan War), and it's hard to tell right now if that's to accommodate players who know nothing about Greek mythology, or if it's going to be an actual plot point. Personally I think feeding the familiars for other buffs is a good idea, but I am also biased in favor of always maxxing everything out 🤷🏻‍♀

Even though I like Enyo and her son Enyalius the most, I still don't believe that she was daughter of Zeus and Hera because I HATE Violence, War, and Destruction. 2) Angelos. I think this is also FALSEHOOD too because I have already searched this name in English Name Behind The Name, they said it was a male name only. That means there is no goddess Angelos in Greek mythology because she is NOT REAL or does NOT EXIST. 3) Arge. But Eleutheria IS a goddess. She is the personification of freedom (latin name is Libertia) and while her cult and name started as an epithet of Artemis Eleutheria, she did become her own mythological figure. Sometimes she is regarded as the same person as Eileithyia, daughter of Zeus and Hera, goddess of childbirth, sometimes she’s just a sibling

Because I DON'T believe that Eleutheria was daughter of Hera. Also, I think it's FALSEHOOD and Eileithyia has nothing to do with Eleutheria because they're NOT really siblings at all. Never ever! If you want to know about Angelos, Arge, and Eleutheria, go find the these names in English Name Behind the Name and I hope you recognize that. Because Angelos, Arge, and Eleutheria are FALSEHOOD and they are NOT real in Greek mythology.
