Excellent description. New bitwig user loving it. I never properly understood sync until you explained it. Many thanks

Your way of explaining things is very interesting to listen to!

Number and apostrophe for octave is based on pipe organ registration; 1 foot, 2 foot, 4 foot pipes, etc.

The square wave actually isn't the harmonically richest wave there is. It only has odd harmonics which means (crucially for a sub oscillator) that all octave interval harmonics are missing. This prevents clashing/phasing with notes played in the same key on upper octaves.

Harmonically rich isn't well defined. Saw tooth waves have every harmonic whereas square wave have odd only. Meanwhile, white noise has equal power at every "harmonic", but since there's no fixed wavelength, the concept of harmonic doesn't properly apply. You can cook up pathological waveforms that are properly periodic and have equal power at all harmonics up to N, but whether that is more "rich" than the sawtooth is up to you.

Now that I think of it, isn't a pulse wave with a pulse width of one sample that pathological waveform i described?

Watching back the recording I noticed some weird artifacts when I was working on the oscillators. AAC Just isn't made for that type of raw data I guess.
