That might explain why it took me so long just to come across a video (from RubixRaptor) that combined Arma 3 and 40k. I'd been aware of Arma for maybe 15 years and was curious about the military realism but had no idea it was even moddable. I love 40k, as YT knows, so the discovery was just amazing. I thought TES had a great modding community, but this is just incredible. It's made me strongly consider both getting into Arma 3 and back into the miniatures, and there are clearly pro-level designers out there, so it's just baffling when companies like GW (or T2 when it comes to GTA) don't take advantage of such a dedicated, talented community most IPs could only dream of having.

@@WK-47Hell yeah arma 3 is modable! That’s how dayz came about with the arma2 mod. I finally got a pc powerful enough to run arma 3 this year, and was excited to play the arma 3 dayz mod as I had seen some cool videos on it. Sadly the reality didn’t match up. Most of the servers didn’t have zombies on them because the players found them frustrating. Makes me wonder why they didn’t play a different mod, of which there is many and the game itself is pretty fun.

When I was in the Army, we had to do training in a heavily modified version of Operation Flashpoint. As far as I know, they're still using this for different training scenarios simply because it's so flexible and immersive. It's also super stressful and a great training resource for leaders.

54:28 Don't do this. That method works for getting mods installed on your PC, but you still end up having to select and add them to a mod list manually. Instead, use the dropdown menu on the top right of the mods tab, and use the 'import' button on the bottom of that dropdown to import the complete modlist as its own saved preset, with you only having to verify fresh downloads. Can adjust the name of the preset and move around mods as need be afterwards just the same. That said, good on ya for making this vid, Poncha. Hope you had fun with your short time riding with the Consecrators and House Terryn.

In the lore, the pauldrons move on their own to get out of the way of vision. Presumably also to intercept shots and such. Their size is because ammo is stored under them to prevent the bolter’s shells from being easily cooked off by incoming fire. Also, their armor is covered and filled with artificial nerves connected to their nervous system through the Black Carapace. So, they can sense everything around them whether they can see it or not.

Oh yeah I’m not denying that for space marines they are fine with it. I guess I mean from a practical game development pov.

Its nice to see somebody finally give these people the recognition they deserve! Its also nice to see someone who isnt afraid to just come out and say it as it is in relation to some of GW shady tactics. We need more people like you.

I work in games and people really don't appreciate just how valuable what modders give the community is. This is so much high skilled labor being given to a community just for free. It blows my mind anyone could be unappreciative or demanding.

Hi Poncha! I know i'm a year late, but some friends just got me into Arma 3 and after looking for videos on 40k mods, I found yours. Armigers Vigilant seems like a very fun unit to play with, and I do hope at some point i'll be able to join y'all. Thank you for making the video, and I'm sure in good time i'll see y'all on the frontline!

in relation to that comment at the start about someone falling asleep when trying to watch your dawn of war 3 video, it reminds me of the time one of my subscribers left the comment in the chat while i was live streaming that he listens to my videos to help him get to sleep

For the first time in ages i see the true epic of 40k mods, over the shoulders of modders that go beyond the call of duty, and the epic soundtrack you add "adds" to that epic nicely! For 10.000 thousand years of rendering they hold the line for us to have acces to the mighty warriors and warmaquinas of the Imperium, for us to cleanse the Xeno, and burn the heretics. And thanks to them i Know No Fear of game crashing, because i know it worth it till the last second of my CPU running, because even in death still serves.

Regarding the space marine bikes, I think currently they're unusable so I would recommend a limited turret for the bolters to sit on, say a 90* degree arc and a few degrees up and down. You effectively turn them into bike tank destroyers which would be an upgrade as to how painful they currently are. Such a well put together video talking about the modding scene and how laborious it all is, that said always a pleasure to watch you Poncha.

I used to be part of an arma 40k op group called "the vanguard". I had some good fun, but life got in the way whenever they did an op. I'm still technically part of the group, but I haven't been to an op (or even said anything to them) in a few years. I hope they're still doing ok. Also I know I'm probably not original, but I have a few questions. 1. Will you ever do a video on dakka squadron? I think it deserves more attention than it got. I really liked it, but it seems like the devs dropped off the face of the earth. I still haven't seen the discord server they promised in a twitter dm! I think dakka squadron flew under most peoples radar, and I've heard people say they thought it was a mobile game port, but it has a lot of heart and really deserved more attention. I'm very passionate about dakka squadron, being an ork player. 2. Will you ever do a video on the first space marine game? 3. Thoughts on trailer for space marine 2? 4. If you want to do a mod spotlight on a really good 40k mod, the "Adeptus Mechanicus" series by Ogliss for Rimworld are absolutely killer. (It's not just admech stuff, it's a whole load of factions, the mods are just called "adeptus mechanicus armory" and "adeptus mechanicus xenobiologis)

man, thinking about dakka squadron again while writing this made me really sad. I had really high hopes for that game! It had so much potential, but they just stopped everything.
