Good effort, these are really informative. I travelled Central America last year it’s important to have a plan in these places, this information can save you a lot of hassle. I stayed at one of the hostels you reviewed in porto Escondido.

Hey mate! Appreciate you filling the gap on getting some insights on popular surf spots. Popoyo sounds awesome until you said how overcrowded it can be lol. What is you favorite place to surf that Central and South America has to offer? I'm specifically looking for a place to surf around the end of the year. Nov-Jan

Thanks for the tips & looking forward to going there! I had a bad experience with a bus in another country so taxi it is. Many that passed by were full & I almost missed my flight. Kind of a nightmare & a long story. I ended up in a sketchy neighborhood 😅

I'm glad I was able to spend time surfing there 15 years ago. Surfed by myself almost the entire time I was there. When I visited there were already markings in the beach for future housing. I can only imagine what it looks like now. I'm sure its over crowded like everywhere.

Yeah that was the time to be there! The word got out and I would say there are over 500 beds available on the beach with new hotels going in every day. I was just down there and was shocked at the amount of development

I too was lucky to surf there in '91 and we were the only foreigners.Met 2 Nicos from Managua and thats it!I returned in 2014 and there but have been 50 surf camps with a constant flow of surfers heading into the water.Whenever a swell hit 30 Brazilians would be fighting for every wave.I guess that its a bit different now with the politics doing a 180.

On that stretch of sand there are more surf hostels than there are grains of sand on the beach. If you're ever expecting to surf by yourself you're going to be disappointed it is hot dusty packed and a slightly decent room will cost you 40 to 50 because all of the hotels are run by foreigners serving other foreigners

BS. Why are you so angry? I hate crowds and have had many epic solo surfs there. Advise you don't visit the east coast of Australia if popoyo ruffles your feathers

@@NadiKyle God no man. Anymore than five and I start freaking out. But I live there on the beach and I have for 12 months. Dan is your mission to make every emerging far from your home spot more crowded? Or just selling out the towns for clicks? I’m just wondering if your end goal is to become rich off of exposing surf destinations that aren’t paying you to promote

Don't be so miserable. This country has so many surf breaks available to the adventurous and to bitch that it's ruined because of one 5km stretch is ridiculous. Not to mention Nica is a very poor country and the flow on effect to the whole area is very valuable.

watch your butt in Nica, after 6 months of no issues in Costa, headed up to Managua to me dad and brother. Buddy tried to kill me, wanted my watch, but instead of asking or threatening, just ran up and swung a rock at my head. had to fight, lost my watch cause I got surrounded by all buddies, but got away fairly unscathed. Been all over the world, only place I've been jumped.
