There's a piece in Disney's Snow White in the dwarves' cottage. I'm pretty sure it's the organ. It's been a while. I've always dreamed of a high back bench carved like this.

I like art deco for public spaces like a restaurant. But calm almost minimalist decor is what I crave in my home. I'm drawn to japandi and mid century mod.

I like the warm minimalism without the minimalism lol. (More like warm moderation?) I would use that as the foundation, and then add a controlled palette of about 3 rich colours, and the playfulness of some added traditional pieces. The warm tones and natural materials would still tie it together though.

People like different styles at different times in their life. My home was built in 1955. Now I like minimalism and neutral colors with big tropical plants.

These are nice examples ...but Maximalist doesn't mean crazy patterns, and stuff that doesn't make sense ( that's my thoughts on it ). I am a Maximalist by nature, but it's not silly looking ,overdone layering , crazy stuff .. that is too much for the eye . It can also be colours thst are subtle but not necessarily " saturated " and I stay true to my own Style ... it's Coulur, Maximalist, but it's that " Grandma Chic " that I've done for DECADES , ...BEFORE It had a " Design Name " .

I love that! Grandma Chic is perfect for most of my friends and myself. A collection of antiques from family, mixed with new where needed and garage sale pieces with a color family that brings them all into harmony. ❤❤😊😊😊 Mine is golds and browns with accents of green,😊

I suggest you aim for a blanc canvas look to begin with. Choose mostly streamlined furniture in one color. I suggest furniture with a plain look and plain doors; like for example Malm or Bestå at IKEA. Keep both furniture and walls plain and discrete. During the spring and summer use hardly any decor, no extra pillows in the bed or sofa, no pattern, no curtains or maybe in a very thin fabric. During the autumn and winter we often want a more cosy feel. Then a more maximal style can work fine. Use much more decor, extra candle holders, arrange groups of beautiful things. Also use extra pillows, cosy blankets and layers of curtains. Combine different sobre colous, different textures and fabrics like silk and velvet. If you feel like adding some colous or patterns you can go for a more maximal and even dramatic look. I suggest you do the more bold things on pillows, curtains and drapes. You also can frame a cool matching wallpaper. Then add some extra decor pieces that gives you the right maximal vibe. When you feel like going back to minimal you put the extra decor, everything with colors and patterns away. When it's hidden behind close doors your home will be like a blanc canvas again. Hope you got some inspiration. Best of luck!

I like Nick but I don’t agree with having to chose a “design style” and stick to it. I like what I like and it doesn’t fit neatly into a box. Buy things you like, try to put them together in a cohesive fashion and don’t worry too much about fitting into a particular category

I Feel there are to main design movement : minimalism and maximalist. Now each of them has subcategory: art déco, dark academia would fall under max. Japandi, wabi sabi would fall under minimalisme. Some style like MCM, eclectic could be either of them

The mirror in the bottom of the three pics used to exemplify post modern looks all Melty. The room in that photo is interesting in general, but the mirror....are there mirrors in colors? (Opens browser) omg mirrors come in tinted colors Now I really want to see more of these tinted mirrors. I always find it weird when people use mirrors in rooms other than a bedroom (I get a standing mirror or vanity there) or bathroom, but if it's tinted then it mjght not throw me (or other potential guests) off as much It also just seems like really untread aesthetic territory

I don't believe that maximalism can describe a style on it's own. It's a level of existing aesthetics. So you can have maximalist victoriana, post modern maximalist etc based on which decor is chosen and increased to the max.
