If you have a bigger budget you're going to develop a better car, with better performance. 2 less cylinders has NOTHING to do with performance. This is, yet again, dumb. One manufacturer’s top track trim vs another’s base model. The GT3 will likely go down as the best of the last ICE platforms and its well deserves it. It’s totally amazing. That said the new Z06 is the proper comparative to the GT3 and while nobody yet knows what it all will be, that 670hp NA 8500rpm set up is very likely to give the GT3 serious trouble in a drag race. And IMHO drag racing track cars as a measure of performance is also dumb. I could build a bathtub faster in a straight line than both of these incredible machines. So what’s the point. Dumb.

31 years of 911 ownership and after test driving the C8, the Porsche 911 is still the legend in which all else is judge by. It is what it is and Porsche is a different level of engineering. Even in base form the 911 is still a faster and better balanced performance car punching way above what it’s specs would have you believe. Something was definitely off with this test. There have been countless acceleration tests done on the C8 we know beyond any shadow of a doubt that it can do a sub 3 second 0-60 and a low 11 second 1/4 mile (under ideal conditions some have even managed a high 10). The slight reduction in power from this particulate filter should cost maybe .2-.3 tenths at most. When Chevrolet starts importing the C8 to Europe it will be the high end version fully loaded which cost around $85K -$95K in the USA. They have already said they will sell for the same price in Euros and pounds. So around the same (or slightly less) price as a base 911, so racing it against a hugely more expensive and rare GT3 is just absurd. Are the European egos so fragile that they are afraid to lose comparing apples to apples? It would seem so, kind of sad and pathetic really. What ever will they do when the slightly more expensive Z06 comes out, race it against a Veyron?

Whoever was drivng the C8 has "no clue" what they are doing here - the C8 was not in Track mode (it appears to be in the standard "Touring" mode..?), and given that much, you can not even enter the C8's launch control system unless the car is in either Sport or Track mode..! The C8 has special programing for way more aggressive shift patterns when in Track mode, so this was a complete waste of time here dragging a 992 GT3 when C8 was not properly setup up here. 😞

@@Rick2010100 Hmmm... you seem to know a ton about Vette's here, but did you also know that the Vette's C8.R race car dominated all of the Porsche GT race cars for the first two years of its debut (IMSA 2020 & 2021 seasons) and it would of demonated this year as well if IMSA didn't decide to force the C8.R to change from it's orginal GTLM form to the the Porsche friendly GTD Pro (GT3 platform) form to make it much more fair for the Porsche GT cars and others to have a chance here against the C8.R. And, I don't claim to know a ton about the Porsche GT street cars, but I do know that the 992 GT3 will loose everytime to the C8 Z06 on a race track, and the 992 GT3 RS will loose everytime to the C8 ZR1 on a race track as well. The GT3 is one of the better track focused cars porsche makes but it's not the top of the line when considering the GT3 RS GT2 or GT2 RS. A better comparison for the C8 would be an entry level 992 (379 hp) & even then, there are no guarantees for the vette.

Good video, people are right they are two different beast. Porsche is a lot more and is amazing with PDK. Just I'm giving credit to both cars but the whole race cause timing posted 62 mph 3.2 vs 3.7, then 124 mph 10.6 vs 13.9 and finally 1000 meter mark was 20.1 vs 21.7. So I'm impressed at the whole both cars are amazing, just to shave a 3.3 sec lead at 124 mph to 1.6 sec by 1000 meter mark is a great feat in it self for a much cheaper car. Great job to both!

There are no videos of any owner actually getting sub 3 seconds 0-60 for the C8 on the street when using accurate timing equipment. The only time you see less than 3 secs is on the in-car timer which has been proven to be wildly inaccurate.

Search 2020 Z51 C8 Corvette 0 to 60 by The Good Life 777 on KZbin and you will see it on the street. 3.4-3.6 without launch control and 2.7-2.9 secs with. I think the clowns in this vid didn't use the launch control on the C8

They got 2.7 for the newest GT3 with PDK. That's a 0.1 second difference between the two cars, not 0.5 like this video. Also this race was on a strip, not the street?

@@rhull3939 It is not 30 + down, it is listed as 27 HP and 18 ft. lbs. down and that is a minor difference that does not come close to explaining the difference in acceleration seen here. Car wow did acceleration testing on a C8 that had not even gotten past its 500 mile break in point (so it would not rev past 5500 RPM and was over 120 HP down) and even he managed a 3.5 second 0-60 and mid 11 1/4 mile. Something was definitely off with this test. There have been countless acceleration tests done on the C8 we know beyond any shadow of a doubt that it can do a sub 3 second 0-60 and a low 11 second 1/4 mile (under ideal conditions some have even managed a high 10). The slight reduction in power from this particulate filter should cost maybe .2-.3 tenths at most. When Chevrolet starts importing the C8 to Europe it will be the high end version fully loaded which cost around $85K -$95K in the USA. They have already said they will sell for the same price in Euros and pounds. So around the same (or slightly less) price as a base 911, so racing it against a hugely more expensive and rare GT3 is just absurd. Are the European egos so fragile that they are afraid to lose comparing apples to apples? It would seem so, kind of sad and pathetic really. What ever will they do when the slightly more expensive Z06 comes out, race it against a Veyron?

The GT3 is a non turbo flat 6 cylinder engine 4.0liter 244 cubic inches versus 350CI V8. Recognize engineering as you see it it aint politics. The 992 GT3 annilihated the C8 vette in a straight line and will smoke it under all racing conditions. That being said the C8Z06 will likely smoke the GT3 when it finally shows up.
