Porsche 996 GT3: THE PUREST and THE BEST!

Great cars. I owned a 996.1 GT3 Club Sport for more than 10 years and was by far the best car I've owned and the only one I made money on. It had a few minor modification including a Manthey K400 upgrade from JZM which boosted power to nearly 400bhp and the suspension was set up for track use so handled beautifully. Very reliable too and those bucket seats are among the best seats ever put in a car. I drove a couple 997 GT3's but didn't like the gear change which felt stiff and awkward compared to the 996 though the build quality was better. The Mezger engine is one of the all time greats.

I drive one for 3 years now. The sound of the engine is flashing me every single time. To mention another big plus is the narrow body, which is helpful on twisty Swiss mountain roads….

I had a GT3 Mk2 , had a ton of upgrades, Cargraphic exhaist , Parr racing remap , upgraded JZM brakes and suspension . A gem of a car and quite sedate when driving round town. Tracked it a few times and a breeze to handle. Apart when in the wet.

It's the perfect sports car. In an age where supercars are too wide for UK roads, too fast and are fast becoming soulless we have a 996 GT3 which is more than fast enough. Narrow to thread down our poor excuse of a road network with an incredible soundtrack. A beautiful analogue experience.

The best thing you can do with this car: a short gearbox ! I did this 10 years ago and have not regretted a single drive! 40t km fun in the swiss mountain....!

Assume you mean close ratio gearbox?

@@RichReviews_ Exactly, change the gear ratio from 9:31 to 8:32. It is also installed in the Cup gearboxes.
