Great video. The bracelet on the vintage ones is what really makes it for me. The newer ones have the more modern traditional 3 link ones while the vintage ones have that slightly tinny folded style

Hi and hello from Mexcio City, surfing through Facebook i found one Mario Andretti's version, they are asking for $1250, the strap coating is all gone but looks very well in general. Would you go for it? any advise you would give me?
@HobbyOfHours

Thanks for stopping by to say hello! Is the day wheel in German or English? The German day wheel is the true Andretti, tho the English day wheel is more common. They make a Spanish one too! If you DM me the link on instragram I'll have a look for you. Buttt....I'm inclined to recommend passing. If you want to restore it fully you're looking at the full 1,850 (ish) on top of the 1,250 and you can find a better one likely for 2.2k. But you have to hunt every day. Let me know! Best, D

How did you determine you have a 3704 instead of a 3700? Was the caseback stamped 3704 inside? The "All-Sigs" or "Full-Sigs" dial which you have was offered between 1982-1985(ish) as a 3700 model. The other giveaway is the bracelet design is (one of) the first version(s) of the geometry of the bracelet system which was revised to "2nd Geometry" with the 3702 (and then again with 3704 later still). I know you noticed I said "(one of) the first version", the distinction is that the earliest examples of the 3700's had 2 separate links comprising the lug links, while later units would integrate those first 2 sections into a single piece. On the VERY first version of the bracelet (that it appears you have), the link immediately under the TITAN had "PORSCHE DESIGN" engraved and black filled, on it and a Dial that only listed IWC and International Watch Co. Notably these 2 IWC logos were of the 1970's version of their logos (a sans-serif font for "IWC" and a different script font for the "International Watch Co."), which transitioned into the IWC logos we know today in 1982... that version of the watch with PORSCHE DESIGN link under the TITAN and just IWC logos, was retailed thru Tourneau to the earliest customers who ordered in 1981, 500 exist. But your bracelet is THAT same original version of the bracelet. Someone changed your clasp though because you have a later clasp.
@HobbyOfHours

Hello Alan! Such a pleasure to have encountered you here. I haven't met anyone who likes this watch let alone someone who knows so much about it. I likely mispoke referencing 3704 vs. 3700. I wasn't aware of the variance in the clasps though, learning something new here. I do love the bracelet architecture. I have the same bracelet on my Certina Audi chronograph. So unusual and so beautiful. While the other models have less branding and may be appealing to some, I love this 6 line version so much. Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and say hello. All the best, D

@@AVMD83 Heya. I don't. Though I do know people out there don't know what they have from what they don't have. Meaning....the one you have (1 km on the tachymeter) is the original and first one. Everyone is still chasing the Lemania 5100 models and those are claiming the big tickets. Once more people see my video LOL the true Top Gun's (1 Mile) will be the ones worth the big bucks.
