Nicely done! I was very confused with all the different variants or derivatives of this design. Thanks for the clarity in the end, it all makes sense now. PVD tends to chip off rather easily; to your point it adds character but the one you have looks absolutely pristine after all these years!

I remember reading on some forums that Porsche wanted to sue Sinn for copying their watch almost 1:1, but Helmut Sinn replied that they just used the same case maker :) The early Sinn 144 models indeed seem to have almost identical case, if not the same indeed, later they altered it, for instance in the lug shape department. The 144 is one of the mainstays of Sinn catalog (although the black versions are either rare or limited editions these days).

Great video and very cool, distinctive watch. Tom Cruise's attention to detail wanting the original watch is quite a statement and a small reason why he is among the elite actors in Hollywood.

Brilliant video, especially the intro. Took my breath away. I’ve now found myself in a loving feeling for Porsches. Really looking forward to owning a watch from Top Gun without having to put my budget in the danger zone. I still wonder what Iceman’s watch was in the original.

I have always worn digital watches like G-shocks or Suunto, never had a taste for analog watches. Then I watched Top Gun again for the zillionth time, noticed this watch and I wanted one immediately. This peasant is not going to drop 4 digits on a watch so I looked around for something else that is aesthetically similar. Went with a Citizen Promaster Nighthawk, and literally the day I got it in the mail I heard about the Dan Henry 1972. So obviously I got one of those also.

I'm showing my age a bit, but my original inspiration for buying a PD chrono was a UK show called "The Professionals". This ran from the late 1970's until the early '80's. One of the main characters wore a PO11 (from what I can make out) - still looks so current - the watch, definitely not the show! Awesome stuff. Love your channel.
