Porsche GT2 RS vs GT3 RS - Did I Beat Charles Leclerc?!

Showdown time! Porsche GT3 RS vs GT2 RS with lap times on track at Exotics Racing to see how they stack up! With a time at the top of the board from Charles Leclerc, how close can I get? Let's find out...
Exotics Racing in Las Vegas have a huge line-up of cars to choose from, and the new 991.2 GT2 RS and GT3 RS comparison is something that's always intrigued me. What better than an opportunity then to put both cars side by side in the same conditions with lap timing to see the differences in performance first hand. And while at it, to have the opportunity to put in some times up against many big names on the Hall of Fame board in the Michelin Time Trial; Charles Leclerc, Eli Tomac, Mariod Andretti, Gordon Ramsey, Caitlyn Jenner, Karim Benzema, Jay Leno and more.
First out on track in the GT3 RS with @doreenseidel it's a feel for what we're up to and what the new Michelin Cup 2 R tires can do. Then the swap comes over to the GT2 RS to feel the extra power and set about some seriously quick laps. With Leclerc setting the track's fastest lap in a cough 488 of 48.96 that's my time to try and chase - although admittedly in much hotter conditions during summer and also on the non-R tire.

GT2 RS fastest lap: 49.29

Ok Shmee I've owned both and currently have the same car you've set the track record! I couldn't agree more that the GT2RS is my absolute favorite Porsche 911 of all time. Quite the automobile. Definitely makes us all better drivers then we could otherwise hope. For me the GT2RS is a far better daily driver. With the GT3 I was forever at the upper end of the revs to make the engine sing and that is simply not possible on my average daily commutes.

As Much as I love both of these cars [ GT3RS & GT2RS ] , given the price point and their performance I believe that the GT3RS is the more sensible option to get especially with that amazing N/A engine , but I wouldn't say no to a GT2RS given the chance 😎

With s 50 thousand dollar upgrade no engine tuning just suspension, brakes etc. It goes even faster on track. Seen it. Plus the car can hit 223mph. When the electronic limiter is disconnected

Great to see you so excited driving those Porsche GT cars! I actually drove there back in 2014, in a GTR (only because they had a half price deal in it 😉), a 458 and a 991.1 GT3. Exotic Racing offer a very good value proposition based on the car selection and pricing. They’re close to the airport as well, as I wasn’t interested in Las Vegas otherwise 🙄.

Something to look at that has bothered me since all these supercars started going to Alcantara steering wheels. Look how filthy the red parts are on that GT2 RS steering wheel. To me, that is unacceptable in a car that costs close to $250,000.00. I understand this car is probably driven 1,000% more than a normal GT2 RS but still. Porsche needs to seel them with a replacement steering wheel.

Interesting piece of info about these : just checked prices on the gt3rs today (because im interested in getting the 991 gt3) and seems like the 991.2 has dropped about $100k (cad) in the last 4 months. And just as a side note on this topic, monterey auctions also brought in 34% less this year compared to 2018. Seems like there is fuckery ahead of us....so to anyone looking to buy exotic car, be careful :^). Gt2rs has also dropped by over 100k average too btw.

Was just there for my birthday early this month to drive the GT3 RS (Gen1- the Purple 911) and man it was so much fun and enjoyed the experience a lot - hoping to go back to try the GT2 RS 🤗 • My lap time was 1:00.04 so I want to beat that next time lol

Yes Doreen did beat both Tim and Leclerc with 48.931. Tims time 49.296 is top 5 of 35325 recorded track times. Gordon Ramsay's 53.845 is nr 718 of 35325 (lots of different track cars). Tims time with limited track knowledge and just 0.4 sec behind Doreen is impressive . Tims time is 3rd off 466 GT2 RS track times. Update: Now Tim is 7 as Juan Pablo Montoya and Rubens Barrichello tops the list now! Check it yourself at Exotics Racing homepage, select racing menu and find Michelin time trial world challenge.
