I love Lisbon and Porto and hope to get to Southern Portugal someday. I liked your attitude of coming into a new place with fresh eyes and seeing it for what it is now instead of a past visit or what others say. You’ll get more enjoyment that way and I’m entertained watching your retirement journey. Keep up the great work!

We love Lisbon and Porto too! Thank you so much for the kind words!

Great price for accommodation in high season! Portugal really is beautiful and we will be visiting again soon. BTW you are absolutely correct about Portuguese wine, it’s so good
@RetiredNomadAdventuresАй бұрын
We thought the price for the accommodation was really good too! Oh! The wine! xoxox

We are enjoying your journey. We are planning to start our next May and have rough itinerary that looks similar to what you have revealed. Staying in places we have traveled before and/or English is the primary language. Thank you for the entertaining information!

I see a “CHEERS”! (…do I hear ‘Sam Malone’????…my parents neck of the woods🇺🇸🤓) I LOVE your walks downtown and your choice of ‘music’ enhances the beauty!! Your fresh eyes are seeing Portugal through my old eyes Daphne! I LOVE following along! Safe travels and Gods Blessings! Your ‘favorite’ district nurse😍

The beach in Portimao looks beautiful! Portimao & Albufeira are high on our list. We'll probably spend the winter in the Algarve next year. We are really excited now! Nice video! Thanks for the tips, pricing and grocery tour!

Awesome! I know you two will love it! Lagos is another one I would really recommend! We also really like Via Real de Santo Antonio. Happy travels!

Laughing at the laundry. With four years in, my husband is a master of washington machines. We’ve googled instructions in several languages. And we like fabric softener-it’s got a lot of different names and labels as well.
@RetiredNomadAdventuresАй бұрын
The laundry was a real learning curve for us. Haha!

Another great video. I like that you include some grocery items that you can get locally especially hair and skin products. Good to know that they are available instead of taking them in your suitcase from your home country. Well done!
@RetiredNomadAdventuresАй бұрын
Thanks Jenny! I brought a lot of my own skin products with me, but I’m down to the end of them now. And I’m worried because I haven’t been able to find anything to replace them. I’m going to try a couple of the pharmacies and see what I can find. I’ll share how that goes! 😅

Another thank you! We have booked this place for the month of June in 2025. It’s on the high side of our budget but we’ll pet sit to offset.

It really has everything you could want/need and the location is fantastic. The host is eager to please and so kind. I hope you enjoy it!

I prefer portimao in winter. It's an absolute ghost town.

I bet it would be amazing in the winter too!

We’re visiting Portimao in 3 weeks with a view to retire on the algarve in 5 years. Will be staying at the Jupiter hotel as a base to visit Alvor and ferraguado ( spelling * ) as well as the city itself . Normally stay in Albufeira but as it’s a permanent move we’re trying other places first
@RetiredNomadAdventuresАй бұрын
It's so smart to check out other places to be sure you have a full picture of the area. We love the Algarve and sure we will visit again and again. Maybe in the future we will be there at the same time! Happy Travels!

Love your AirBnB Daphne! You guys chose really well and Portimao is such a cute town. We've spent time near Albufeira down the road and of course Lagos is amazing! Enjoy the 2 Euro wine...hard to go wrong with that huh? LOL.
@RetiredNomadAdventuresАй бұрын
Thanks Stacey! We have never been to Albufeira and we’re going to take a train ride down there in the next week. I’ve heard such great things about it. 😊

Great video. We spent over a week in January. Weather was good about 70. Lots of sun and no crowds. Very few people we loved it. Did lots of walking. You can just walk a ton without even trying. We found it very affordable especially dining out compared to home in Canada. Great food and drinks for about half what we would pay. Enjoyed recognizing some places and you showed some new ones for next time. Travelled whole algarve but portimao is favourite
@RetiredNomadAdventuresАй бұрын
We would love to come back in January. We have a few more videos coming up where we take you to some other places and restaurants. Thank goodness for all the walking, because we’ve also done an awful lot of eating! The food here has been so delicious. 😋

that was down town praia da rocha (holiday resort)...down town portimao is about a mile away,lol.

Deeply jealous....Love the Algarve....We used to rent a little car and explore all the hidden beaches....but, that was a few years ago, when it was a super cheap place to visit (from the UK)
@RetiredNomadAdventuresАй бұрын
Hi Peter! We love it here too. Exploring the hidden beaches sounds glorious!

Do you think you'd pick off-season for your next stay in Portugal? I would've made the same mistake with the laundry. I loved this video! I have never been to Portugal. The food looks delicious!
@RetiredNomadAdventuresАй бұрын
We would love to come back and see the difference in off-season. Having said that, we would come back again during high season as well. We just love it here! Thanks for saying that about the laundry. We felt really silly! 😂
