Portland in Peril

I live two hours from Portland and I have to drive through the downtown area of the city at least once a month. My work has taken me there for the past 20 years.
For the last few years every time I go there I am shocked at how much worse it gets and keep wondering if this is the bottom or if Portland can find new ways to destroy what once was a beautiful, vibrant, safe city.

Seattle and Portland used to be absolutely beautiful cities and a destination. Now they are blank holes to be avoided. This is the result of lawlessness.

I couldn’t agree more. My work also takes me to Seattle. I used to enjoy these trips to Portland and Seattle. So sad to see what they have become. If I didn’t have to go there I never would.

I moved away from there 15 years ago and it used to be a very well kept pretty place but now it's just a mess.

Yep. The park district used to be beautiful. Now it’s a muddy stretch of graphitti, fecal matter and empty sculpture bases. Sad.

I don't love getting taxed to death in NE, however I am thankful for the law and order and strong police response to criminal activity. You will not see anything like this anywhere in NE and most if not all other red states.

That’s good. But be careful. 40 years ago when I moved here it was a very conservative state. It can happen anywhere.

In the water? I’ve seen them in old boats parked by the road. Any shelter that’s free. Those old RV’s are free because at the end of their resale value they are more expensive to dismantle and recycle than they are worth so it’s easy to give them away. Now they are on our streets decaying with people living in them.

@@MaxHeadspace9mm I had a neighbor move back there not long ago because he lived there at on time a kept telling me how nice it was. He is now back in Sevier Co. Tennessee. It is a shame what has happened to parts of out country that once were beautiful and a great place to visit. I'm happy I moved from MI to TN. Folks here love freedom and ... have it. JimE

Sadly, left coast state and deep blue city - that's what you get with either while both together is exponentially worse. Move to Florida - I came down here 14 years ago and the only reason I've ever returned to Pennsylvania is to visit family. Weather is awesome, gun rights lead the country, cost of living is low and if it wasn't for the national chains forcing their employees to wear masks and local Democrats doing it willingly, you'd never even know there was a shamdemic. No need to offer to stay in Oregon so as to be the last non-liberal to leave so you can turn the power off - at the rate CA is going, the power will go out on its own and I'm sure the other dark blue states will soon follow.

I don’t know. I didn’t remove it. But KZbin does that a lot. I get comments and videos removed automatically all the time because they contain some word or phrase they find objectionable. Could you rephrase your comment?
