Max, I was there (LE/TAC). I watch a lot of your vids, and I agree with many of your assessments, etc. In this case, I would like to add some detail as to the actual componentry of the event. I will not debate any poster here (waste of time on this one). Whatever the political motive (and there was, at least one, fairly clear motive shown in AAR (after action reporting, and assessment), the agents/officers on scene at the event were good men simply following orders. Illegal weapons caches (hence ATF/TX involvement) and other major concerns were a part of mission planning. I don't remember anyone briefing any unit concerning religious-based IN/OP. So, while the end goal, politically, may have been budget based exposure and political gain, the troops weren't a part of that, except to follow orders as any good unit should. Just a note of support to those who served, as well as who lost their lives while in the line of duty.

Thank you for the clarification. I agree. Many people all trying to do the right thing. Good motives, following orders and love of country. Trust in our leaders. In so many instances it’s hard to see the forest for the trees.

The guy that runs it is horrible. He claims to be a survivor but isn't. He tries to collect money for the survivors, but he literally kicked the survivors that were living there out. He is a monster.

That’s a really good question. Branch Davidian was a religious sect based on Seventh Day Adventist teaching that had a somewhat radical commune on the site shared in this video. And there’s a lot of misinformation on both sides I’m certain but basically there were reports of child sex abuse, illegal firearm possession and tax evasion aimed at the Branch members and the FBI and ATF laid siege and eventually raided the compound resulting in the death of many people who lived there. No conclusive evidence has ever been brought forth to prove the allegations against the Branch Davidians.

jwash3rd I tend to agree. Hindsight is 20/20 and it’s easy to assign blame now. I suppose the ATF and FBI were motivated to protect the children. And they probably truly believed that those kids were in danger. And after Jonestown (where many children died right next to their parents) it’s easy to see why the government would jump the gun. It’s just a really sad situation that we need to learn from. But I agree with you that looking back at this whole mess it appears that our government badly overstepped its authority and caused pretty much the worst possible outcome.

I'm all about freedom unless it can be CLEARLY determined that someones freedoms are actually being abused. I'm A LOT more open to restrictions when it comes to children vs adults. Such as I dont personally believe adults should be forced to wear seatbelts.....even though its proven to be the best option and saves lives. Children on the other hand I agree they should be forced to obey this law. So if the FBI determines a child is being abused....I"m okay with their intervention.....but the case should be extreme. HOWEVER.....the way this was handled was FOOLISH. Why surround the place and come in guns blazing? Your the FBI.....do some actual infiltration.....have officers go undercover and become members. Then at a discreet time perform the arrest. You cant tell me David Koresh was not vulnerable at any time. Plus in doing so they could have gathered REAL evidence if there was any. I believe the govt in THIS case acted too aggressively and used Jim Jones as an excuse. But we will never know the complete truth of this.

Absolutely true. Unlike Jonestown the Branch compound was not isolated on an island. Members were free to come and go as they pleased. They weren’t even mum about their beliefs and were open to share the tenets of their faith with anyone who was interested. Personally I believe much of the hype about them was fabricated to make them look crazy. Possibly because of peoples feelings about what happened at Jonestown. One thing is certain- if Jonestown had not happened previously the resulting massacre at the Branch would have been avoided. It was an overreaction.

@@MaxHeadspace9mm Oh wow I did not know that. I assumed it was a completely closed off private compound where outsiders were shunned and they were tight lipped about beliefs. I always had alot of respect for Ben Carson who was a 7th Day Adventist. I've looked into their beliefs and honestly have to say they are very Biblical. They are basically separated from the typical Protestant by two beliefs. One they believe Sat is the true Sabbath (and they are actually right lol....its the Jewish Sabath....now it can be argued that the New Testament Church changed this but regardless I see no issue as long as its set aside as a day of rest.....and as Jesus said the sabath was made for us....not us for the sabath. Second and this is the biggie.....they believe Jesus and Michael the Arch Angel are the same person. Now the Jehovah Witness believes this......BUT they view him as simply a MAN....not God. The 7th day sees Him as a FULL part of the Trinity.....God.....but that He also took the form of an angel and is the leader of the angels....similar as to how the President is the Commander and Chief of the military....but in reality hes not not a soldier and much above that in power. I will tell you this.....if you start digging into this you will be shocked at just how this MAY be true. I'm about 60 40 sticking with the regular Protestant view.....but its possible. The main reason it doesnt bother me is that they still view Him as GOD....FULLY. But other than those two doctrines they are fairly similar to say a Baptist. If the compound was as free as you say it was then good gosh they TOTALLY overreacted. okay book finished.

David Koresh was well liked and known by many in the local town. He was also quite an accomplished musician! No the compound closed down only when the government laid siege to it and tried to keep the Davidians from coming and going and of course with all the raids and threats they had no desire to be separated from those of their fellowship. But on a biblical note- I agree that the Jewish holy sabbath is Saturday and it was made for us so it only does us good to observe it and enjoy it. It’s a gift from our creator and makes us more like Him when we imitate Him in that way. As for Jesus well all I can say is I believe that when we delve deeply into things of God and things of the spirit we only understand when He opens our spiritual eyes. We can’t lean on our own understanding and that’s why we Christians often become divided into sects or denominations (which is NOT Gods will). Heavenly understanding only comes from our creator and He alone decides on whom to bestow it and when. So the best policy I’ve found is humility. Moses was the most humble man who ever lived as the word of God describes him and it also describes him as a “friend of God”. God doesn’t ask us to be perfect or even sinless. Only to walk humbly and trust Him in faith and He does the rest. So I don’t worry too much about understanding the dynamic of the heavenly realms. Only that Jesus is lord and exactly who He claimed to be because as scripture says- God cannot lie. And Jesus went to prepare a place for us and it will be awesome!

@@MaxHeadspace9mm I'm 100% with you brother on Jesus. As long as they claim Him to be Lord and Savior....part of the Trinity.....I have no issue. My Grandmother always said it was not the name of the sign over the church but that they had Jesus in their hearts. She went to MANY different denominations for revivals and song services and Bible study. Prob averaged at least 4 days a week in Church. When testimony time came she only bragged on one thing....that every child and grandchild had accepted Christ as Lord and Savior. She once fell and broke her leg coming out of a church service.....she started praising God and her son (My Uncle who would later become a preacher) went to the pulpit and started singing hymns of praise (and he sounds like an alley cat). After that it always bothered her when going to the alter she had to stand and couldnt kneel due to her knee pin they put in. She always took the back seat, the worst seat, the last plate, and served anyone that came....and they came by the droves....poor often without running water....she ran around serving them like royalty. Shes in Heaven now reaping what she sowed.
