2005 Volkswagen Passat 1.8T- A/C Blows Warm

working on a 2005 VW Passat with a 1.8T engine, customer complaint is that the veh a/c system blows warm, this veh does not have an hvac module to use the scantool with, so we are going to go with the gauges and see where it takes us, I hope you guys enjoy this video and thanks for watching.

the ecm contol wire voltage was around 9 volts...if it is controlling the relay you would think it would be system voltage...great video!

Hi, Tommy. Is this cable that goes from ECM just one of the inputs that says that engine is running,which is needed condition for ac relay to engage the AC clutch

I've done that a few times (x999999) always have a stock of fuses :)

So do I. I always have spares just in case I brain fart but once you pop a few fuses over the years you learn to make sure your lead is not on the amp plug. I almost unconsciously swap it back as soon a s I'm done and putting it away.

been killing fuses and meters since the 80's as a kiddo playing with electronics and more, I still pop them now. some things I just never seem to learn/remember

You Rock... I followed step-by-step and have the same results. Since you were not able to finish the repair on this vehicle, have you done this on a different one with success? My relay looks perfect inside, but my results are just as yours were when the video finished.

A new relay would have fixed this car. Have not had another one like this though

I have a B5 1.8t and when I unplugged that wire to test it it blew the fuel pump fuse ? and it stopped running can you advise me please many thanks my car doesn't have a 384 relay ? 1998 B5 Passat 1.8t 20v sport but it does have a 267 relay which I have changed should I have both ?

my concern was the point zero five on ground, zero three is good for vag cars, but you said your ok with it, what is the max reading you would accept for a good ground, great diag vid by the way Tom

The key is to put the lead back when you're done or the first time you go to use it as a voltmeter pop goes the meter fuse!

Man I would have checked Fuse #5 then find someone with small hands and pull that 384 relay switch - they are known for going bad in this car and just replace it (they are inexpensive).
