My jaw literally dropped when you said Nick had left you. Wow, that came out of nowhere! You seemed like a happy couple and he seemed happy when we saw him. I'm so sorry that your summit was ruined because of that, you deserved to have your happy and proud moment at the top of Katahdin because what you did hiking the whole AT was AMAZING!!! You are a lovely and sweet person and whatever videos you choose to make I will probably watch just for updates on what you're doing because I think you're a fun and interesting person. I watched this video last night. It took me a day to process that Nick told you it was over the day before you were to summit. The pinnacle of 180+days of effort. What was supposed to be a joyful day was completely and intentionally undermined. The timing speaks of a person who is extremely insecure, was jealous of all the attention you were getting and needed to knock your feet out from under you in an attempt to make himself feel better. I know, I know, “if you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all” philosophy and I don’t personally know either of you and there’s always two sides to every story, but girl you are hurting and I think you need to hear this. I’m convinced that his decision was premeditated, manipulative, immature and down right cruel. Someday, you will look back on this and realize he did you a favor and you’re better off without him

Girl, I want you to know that I followed 7 hikers this year and although they were / are all good videos and good stories, YOU were the only person that I could not wait to see the videos. I checked every day, sometimes two or three times until you posted. Your videos and content were so good and so entertaining that if I was hiking this year and met you, I would probably hike with you or follow you on trail just for the entertainment alone! You never ceased to make me laugh uncontrollably. I am so glad you had a great hike. The A.T. will change your life in an incredible way. It makes you understand life itself. On that note, I'm sorry to hear about you and Nick. I can relate a little. I had a wife that left on Christmas Eve morning with the kids before I got up for work. I also was in the class of 2023 and fell and tore my meniscus, Had surgery and the DR removed 60% of torn meniscus. My leg is much stronger now and I have lightened my backpack base weight. I registered for February 23, 2024 for take two scene 1. You are a very fine hiker and very adaptable. Remember even though it hurts...Only the strong survive and you surely will!

Sorry about Nick. I feel your pain on the shock factor of a relationship ending. In my case I came home from two years in Afghanistan and she waited a month or so to tell me she wanted a divorce as we were driving down the street one day. Talk about shock.....the bigger shock for me was finding out that she'd retained her lawyer within a few weeks of the deployment starting. She'd been lining everything up to her benefit for the entire deployment. You WILL survive......

I'm very sorry to hear this news about your spouse BadBat. It's very difficult I'm sure. I've been married for 32 years and there is always work involved. Relationships are a lot like hikes; you have good days and bad days but if both of you are willing to work towards bettering your relationship then it's not so bad. When one of you says they are done with doing the work towards bettering the relationship then that is on them. I know it may be hard to hear but you need a partner who is just as invested as you are. That's all I'll say but I know hiking will help you process all of this and help with the healing. Q&A: I'm available Mornings, but I'd schedule time off lmfao I appreciate you for sharing this, It's very brave! I think you should start a fundraiser for your next hike, also look into some sponsorships with products you love. Whenever you feel sad/scared/bitter about it think back to all those crazy obstacles, those horrible sick days on trail, and those rocks that never seemed to end and remember that "This too shall pass" You can do this! you have our viewer support! And when you look back to that Summit Day and your trail days along the AT look at them as stepping stones towards the path of knowing/trusting yourself and letting go of everything that was weighing you down, in the end then it's almost poetic that the biggest thing weighing you down was him in the end. keep pressing forward like you did on the AT bc you got this girl! and 7.2k people think so too. In truth I think he was jealous and regardless its his loss. I don't even care why.

I’ve said this before but I followed your whole journey. You bring great inspiration to more people than you may know. Your smile and laugh are contagious. I’m sorry you had that experience you mentioned. Your life will be fine, you just keep moving forward and being the strong person you are. All the times you were disappointed that you weren’t fast was even an encouragement to me. I was paralyzed neck down 2005 but after all these years of slowly fighting to regain my life, I am able to go hike now. I wanted to be there with you on those days when you didn’t have anyone to hike with. Your speed would of been perfect for me. Lol… I am going to give the AT an attempt next year. I am going for my 60th birthday. It’s a celebration of life for me that I come so far and the fact that I’ve lived this long. I asked this in another video but when you were absolutely covered in mosquito bites, what did you put on them? I have trouble sleeping with just a couple of bites. They get so itchy. Thank you for your incredible presence throughout the AT hike. I'm definitely going to watch it again this winter. If possible , come out to western Colorado. It would be great to see you as a speaker at the many libraries here. Take care of yourself - throwing pots is a good way of working through transitions. Sat 11am mst, (5) 1. differences of trail pysche that you encountered, 2. best nutritional snacks that got you through the most strenuous days 3. recurring fantasies that kept your headspace clear, 4. Each state's similarities/differences, 5. reasons other hikers decided to commit to this lengthy endeavor. I think your videos will stay with me for quite some time. Again, thank you! Badbat, my jaw dropped too when I watched your latest video. My heart broke for you. However, you still accomplished your goal of thru hiking the AT. Thank you for sharing. Your trail adventure has been fun to follow and always enjoyable to watch. You have completed the Appalachian Trail! My dream in the early 70’s but collage got in my way. You did it! The same life event I also share with you. There will be someone perfect for you on the other side. Girl, I’m so shocked and saddened by your life-altering news!! And I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with this. While there is never a “good” time to break that kind of news to you, he could have and SHOULD HAVE waited until you were back home! But enough about that.
