I was never quite convinced that the detective ever did go down into the sewers for the phantom. The tapes were left in place as if he had everything neatly planned out to lure the detective. It's as if he'd set the table, lit the candles, and waited for the date. But...why would the tapes still be neatly in their places had the detective picked them up en route? Also a few traps were still in place, no? I tend to think the serial killer got a little too far ahead of himself and assumed all would go as he planned. He didn't quite plan for any alternative where the detective either didn't come (end of the world being a sudden end to his grim dating sim) or that he could be bested by a hammer to the head and killed by his dear detective. Eh. I'm thinking too much. I also like the Hannibal and Clarice angle.

the pint-sized slasher was probably never one person. as suggested by the newspaper clipping, the myth existed before the killings, thus any psycho could've just donned the mask and done some slashing. further the initial killings could've inspired more psychos to don the mask and try to copy whoever did the initial attack. we see these "copycat killers" irl as well, the latest season of AHS while obviously fictional and dramatized does a fair job of showing this w seemingly the entire cast of characters obsession w richard ramirez and the fictional "Mr. pogo" or whatever they called him

He's not really a decent man, he just targets bad people. Probably mentioned but Pickman and his gallery are shoutouts to the Lovecraft story Pickman's Model. It's about a Bostonian who lives in and old section of the city and is known for their brilliant, but extremely disturbing, paintings. Of course Lovecraft's Pickman isn't a serial killer (as far as i can recall) but it's revealed at the end of the stories that the monstrous creatures he draws were drawn from life. Also Another killer worth mentioning is Lorenzo Cabot, at least jack claims is homicidal. Though he's a threat at leastto the Cabots, I believe he kills other people if you encounter him afterwards and get the impression that he killed before the war as well... though i cant recall if this is explicitly stated in dialog

The Pickman killer is a clear reference to HP LoveCraft's "Pickman's Model", surprised you did not mention it.
@Synonymous1012 жыл бұрын
I didn't mention it because it's so obvious, you'd have to live under a rock to not get the reference.

The Westley and Carl one reminded me of this short story called "The Most Dangerous Game"

You should do a video of all the really creepy stuff in the Fallout universe in October. Also did anything more ever pop up in the game about the Sickleman?

Good idea! And to my knowledge no, which is a real shame 😪

Thanks. And yeah that was something they really should have fleshed out.

Btw this is Sheila. I'm just on my baby girls phone 😅 figured if I was gonna rewatch these videos I might as well do it on a different account to get you more views and likes added.

There's one famous serial killers in fallout, some say it was a man and some say its a women. This serial killer always wear a vault jumpsuit at the beginning before upgrading to better armor, and always obsess with clearing out every buildings, area, settlements, leaving no living things alive (Humans, ghouls, animals, mutants, robots are all equally killable to him). There's rumor going around that this serial killer was actually a good person but some say his a terrible person, another one say that he is mixed of both. One thing certain about this serial killer is that he never realize he is a serial killer. Watch your back whenever you play any fallouts game because legend say that this serial killer is always near your character.

I'm probably never going to play 76, Atom store just turns me off. But there does seem to be some genuinely interesting bits of environment design in 76 and I appreciate you're chronicling it.

The last serial killer pairs had to be a reference to a short story called "The Most Dangerous Game" idk if you were quoting something from 76 or the main story because like the man from the story used practically the same line in the story.

Can’t believe i missed this one. I’d love mystery quests and stories; your character can act like a detective and such.

One of my favorite NV playthroughs was a serial killer/ cannibal. Wore the hockey mask and used a machete. I killed almost all the npcs in that playthrough, it was a lot of fun lol

I'm surprised you didn't mention Allen Marks who goes around killing people of the wasteland to try and find the secret treasure that the star bottle caps give. I know it's not typically how a serial killer would be portrayed but it's close enough

This video is like a serial killer documentary collection. But way better.

Maybe the real serial killer was the innocents we murdered along the way for some armor piece or some ammo.

Pickman is in H.P. Lovecraft's Randolph Carter's Dream Cycle. Carter and Pickman were friends. You should check it out from Horrorbabble, Jennifer and Ian are amazing. They do good work just like you, Synonymous.

It’s hard to be a post war serial killer since so many people get killed all the time
@martinwestykristiansen75763 жыл бұрын
Great video, but I was surprised you did not at the very least mention the very clear inspiration for Pickman as a deranged artist, in the works of H.P. Lovecraft. Specifically the novel "Pickmans Model".

Funny thing, hearing about Pickman here reminded me that I played a mod once, don't even remember what it was called, which used Pickman as a contact for a questline that was tied into a sort of Lovecraftian horror story, and the mod had him be someone relatively knowledgeable about Eldritch creatures.
@radfarlander3 жыл бұрын
That's because Pickman is a loose reference to the Lovecraft story, "Pickman's Model."
