I love TF2. I’ve been playing since I was 16 in 2014. I have 1.6k hours in. I’m now 24 and working as a civil engineer and I thought I would be done playing tf2, but it makes me happy. I love TF2. I’ve recently been recording my gameplay because I want to post them here on KZbin

I hope as I get older, I can have thoughts and realizations as complex as this. I'm in that weird stage of my life where everything is just so confusing and unreachable. Thanks for this great experience that transcends video. Honestly better than any self help podcast I have listened to.

pacific northwest, 11/12/2022, 5:34 pm your videos oddly resonate with me. it's weird seeing things i think about sometimes completed and woven into the context of other ideas. especially that part at the beginning, i remember thinking about the odd uncertainty principle between abstract perception of something and concrete power to act (though more through the lens of resynthesizing my sense of self).

Only half way through but already this is an incredibly powerful and moving vid. Speaks a lot to how I'm feeling at the minute. While I don't currently make content like this, it's been my plan since I started my channel to incorporate messages like this into my content. The world is a confusing place atm and there generally needs to be more happiness. So thank you for this. Earned a sub

Brazil, Sao Paulo, Sao Lourenco da Serra 17:11 PM I'm not good with words but I hope everyone is ok, I started playing tf2 in 2020 I had nothing to do and I was going through a breakup of a 6 year relationship and when I started playing it was one of the best moments I ever had, Being my first Rocket jump, my gibus, my reflect jump, or my first trickstab. I made myself admire several communities I can't imagine what I would be like now without tf2 in my life (I get a job through tf2 as I learned better computing to improve fps) Play when you can but don't stay 12 hours addicted like I was and messed up a lot of my routine play in moderation and have fun have a rest guys 🐧 (don't curse me for being Brazilian I don't comment much because of that)

Washington state 2:40am I just spent 30 minutes just observing? Idk just looking at well the map on the xbox 360 port of team fortress. It was nice I watched a later video you uploaded talking about jimi Jams or some shit idk so after watching that and this I decided to boot up well because I found it a pretty map to look at and just looked around. I wanted to try and find that jimi jams sign u were talking about but i didnt see it but I did notice similar signs that still have the "hand made paid in cash" type of look. They were very nice to look at

I'm currently a sophomore in college and I'm trying to get into the CS program. I also want to get better at Super Smash Bros Melee -- I don't really play much TF2 these days. Lately, I've been pretty depressed I guess, because I've been spending a lot of time watching KZbin and playing video games and such and such, staying up really late and not eating very much because it's a hassle to cook or to go outside to get food. You mention something about trying to get as far as possible without changing your parameters, which reminded me about a LessWrong post titled "Losing the root for the tree". The central idea is this: let's take your example of a musician who couldn't find a bassist. The REAL goal, the reason why you are getting a bassist, is to make good music, or to play music with others, or make money by making music, something. The key thing is that none of these goals necessarily require a bassist. So instead of tunnel visioning on "I need a bassist", if you instead consider your real goal, you will find that you can still satisfy that real goal. Lately, I've been thinking. I'm in kind of a bind, and it's hard to be motivated when you expect things to not go well. But I've been thinking that that kind of doesn't make sense. Even if I have almost nothing, there still is a best option, and that I should choose that option. You mention being "process" vs "outcome" oriented. In terms of motivation, it doesn't really matter how things will turn out, only whether your choice will be the right choice (for your goals). Let's say I'm going to be tortured for 50 years, and there's a button that I can press to only be tortured for 25 years. I would push that button, even though both scenarios would suck. Now let's say that I'm going to be tortured for 50 years, and there's a button, again, but instead pressing it makes me only be tortured for 49.99999 years. Then I guess I would still push the button. But if it's more than just pressing a button and it's more stressful -- for example I have to eat some gross bugs -- then it's like, it's a toss up. But in that case, you don't really have to worry about not having motivation to eat the bugs, because it's not even really clear that it's even the better choice, factoring in the bugs. So basically, either the choice doesn't matter, and so it doesn't really matter if I'm motivated or not; or the choice does matter, and so if I realize that it's pretty easy to be motivated.

Presuming you have a material goal you assign meaning to, have somewhere you want to go. But sure, a right way to act shouldn't be seen as something that can be limited by your means or situation.

Kentucky, United States 1:43 AM 1/9/23 About 6 months ago, I had a video on a KZbin channel of mine that blew up. Not a ridiculous amount of views, about 6,084 I f memory serves me. It was certainly more views than I had ever received on a video before. There were so many supportive comments telling me how if I kept the quality of my content high. That I could reach 100,000 or even a million subscribers. My channel immediately jumped from practically nothing to a modest 400 subscribers in the span of a few days. While it feels very superficial as something to care about, I enjoyed all of the positive attention I was receiving around something I had put my heart and soul into creating. I had been thinking about the prospect of growing a channel for years up until that point. What I wanted to make, the experiences I wanted to share with an audience that would care equally as much as me. It felt like an unobtainable dream. And there I sat, a small portion of that unobtainable dream had fallen right out of the sky for me to grab onto. I was busy a lot right around that time but when I did have time to work on obtaining that dream I never did. I wanted so desperately to but I was stuck... Life can be completely random at times. I had heard stories of people waiting and planning for years for success that I had gained in a fraction of the time. And yet, I squandered it simply because It felt random. I never worked for it, put in the effort and why the video itself did offer me some personal sense of pride, even though I knew the actual quality was subpar. I don't know if it's just the way my brain works or what but as I'm writing this I'm still thinking about how I can come back eventually and update this comment with a story of how I turned around my sense of dissatisfaction and manifested this dream into reality But that's the thing, I think about manifesting that reality. But there is only so far thinking can take you. Maybe it's about time I take my own advice and act on it, and attempt to give myself a second chance that I want. So I'm using this as a time marker. Hold me accountable friends. I will tell you how things are going as soon as I can turn them around. I'm taking my observation of life and the information presented to me to carve a new path in a new line of thinking + acting on said thoughts Wish me luck...
