The cube rule website has since been updated. - A category "cake" has been added, consisting of multiple horizontal layers of starch. Lasagna is now a cake, rather than a multi decker sandwich. Big Mac, a burger slash sandwich, is now a cake thanks to the extra piece of bread in the middle. Ironically, "Victoria sponge cake" (two pieces of sponge cake with cream in between), which has "cake" in its name, is now a sandwich because it's only two layers of starch. - A category "nachos" have been added, consisting of starch in the middle of other stuff. Pasta is now nachos. Noodle soups are wet nachos.

I think that pasta qualifies as a salad in the cube rule, because it doesn’t really have structural starch, it’s just bits of starch, also soup is considered a wet salad, and there are many noodles soups, so if noodles are a salad, pasta is a salad

I can agree to some extent, but I think that pasta can be considered to be toast as well because it’s a layer of starch. Unless you’re adding in sauces, cheese, meat, or veggies, which means it’s toast only when those things are just a layer above starch, which means it has a structure. If you mix the sauce in properly it’s a salad because there is no longer a layer of just starch.

31:39 I just feel the need to point out that 65 grams of blood is about a 1/4 of a cup. Which may not sound like a lot, but that is about 1.25% of the blood in an average adult. and losing 40% of your blood has a death rate of like 100%, so ya know... only substitute a maximum of 31 eggs per day. That's assuming you have a transfusion kit available, if not only do 15 eggs a day

Midwesterner here Iced tea doesn't have to be sweet, unless it's made from a tea that is naturally sweet. I hate tea that's had sugar added for no reason, and I love sweets in general. The south is just a lawless no-man's-land. Iced chai is good though.

I don't know if this has been clarified yet, but I presume that the cube rule only applies to food that is prepared and meant to be a certain shape, and that its designation does not change during the eating process. So for example, the uncrustables that were causing such confusion, it is still a calzone if you bite into it because it was prepared and served with starch on all sides.

If there are toppings on the pasta (sauce, veggies, or anything else that’s not yet mixed into it) it’s toast because the layer of starch is on the bottom. If things are mixed into it, it’s a salad. The same applies to rice.

I have lived my entire life in the poorly-maintained sandbox that is New Mexico, I celebrate a rainstorm like we've just won WWIII. I'd love to trade some of England's weather "Never sunny, always cold, windy, and dreary" for some of ours. Ok as a British person, I knew Iced tea existed, love iced coffee and tolerate am fine with choco milk, the weirdest thing is when 1) I see Fahrenheit, why do you have so precise temperature, in Celsius its 0 degrease to freeze water, 100 degrees to boil water and 2) why do you not have electric kettles, is it a culture thing or do you have nearly no reason to use one? Tea is hot, but palatable when cold. There are specific not sweet teas that are better cold. Chai can be either, but some types of chai are best sweet- some are better hot, and some cold. Sweet tea is cold, but can be hot, and is a comforting drink when so.

Cold tea and hot tea debate basically helps to see the massive disparity of climate for both sides of the world. Here's some (probably poor) descriptors of the sides. Europe: Cold, dreary, glum, monotone, think Frostpunk at the peak of winter. America: Hot, intense, heated, overbearing, think When Day Breaks at the peak of summer (minus all of the people melting into mutated monsters).

About the unifing cube theory. i agree with the way it categorizes food. but the names of each category are misleading. since it takes the name of a specific food to name a group of foods, instead it should be "category 1, category 2, category 3, and so on, now the apropiate question is not "is a hotdog a sandwich?" instead; "is hotdog in the same category that a sandwich is?"

Let’s just clarify that iced tea isn’t sweet everywhere in America- I live in Wyoming, and sweet tea is well… cold tea with sugar in it. Iced tea is just cold tea. No sugar. I’m assuming in the South, since we have to clarify that iced tea isn’t sweet here, if you order iced tea it will be sweet. Also, our temperatures go insanely cold here in Wyoming and British people would also die from them. I question the sanity of the people who STILL get iced water during our 8 months of winter Edit: Also, -15C is 5F. Hah, 5F is nothing here. Even without wind chill it can get to -13F, or even -20F on a really bad day. With wind chill… -52F is the lowest I’ve seen it in a few months, and I might have the number a little off it could be -48F. Still, that’s already under -40C, which is where Fahrenheit and Celsius end up matching and so many people think is a ways off. Texas was unlucky to have been hit by 5F in their cold radar, but that’s because Texas doesn’t get 5F regularly. In Wyoming we handle much colder winters. Let alone Alaska… TL/DR: It depends on which states you’re talking about for a lot of the temperature talks around 17:39

But have we considered that as grain/starch products filled with filling, both poptarts and ravioli are in fact...dumplings? Edit: Clearly I didn't see the cube rule when I posted this. I acknowledge the validity of the cube rule in terms of identifying structure of the grains bit to determine food category, but I argue that calzones are in fact dumplings rather than dumplings being calzones. Same with the sushi group: All sushi are wraps (seaweed wraps specifically) but not all wraps are sushi. Also, only the initial pre-consumption state of the food item should be considered, rather than the state during eating (i.e. An uncrustable is always a dumpling, even if partially eaten, because its state post-preparation but pre-consumption is dumpling.) Also, the salad group should just be other because the cube rule is specifically used only to identify the state of starch-sided foods based on which sides the starch inhabits. Foods without starch sides of any kind are just Other.
