Keep in mind, these are teaching and coaching videos. As a 69 yr old, post menopausal, slim, active woman, I don’t need a lot of calories. But I love to cook and eat! Some days I’m super hungry, some days not so much, depending on my activity level. I get pulled into all the great WFPB recipes using cashews, nut butters, avo, etc, etc - and suddenly I’m eating way more calories than I need but I’m also not getting the volume of food that I want. These videos help me reset to a nice baseline of simple, lovely food. I started my WFPB journey 8 years ago with Starch Solution. Now I seem to be dumping cashew-based sauces and dressings on everything! I love potatoes. Time to go back to my roots! 💖💖💖

Great video! A few years ago I started counting calories, every bit of food was weighed and added into MFP. I got to the lowest weight I'd been for a long time but I was averaging around 1200 calories a day...so basically starving, miserable and people thought I looked ill 😞 no more of that for me! I've not followed the potato reset plan to the letter this past week and a half(job stress mainly) but I have been eating mainly steamed/mashed potatoes with tons of sautéed or fresh veggies and I feel great on it...just need to cut out the alcohol 😔 and I'll be super

Thank you so much for sharing your day and your life and your journey with us Ami, your family is so precious. I'm tired of counting calories and half starving myself just to maintain my weight when i actually need to lose 35lbs and need to eat more. I'm afraid of "over" eating but i'm going to try the potato reset baby!!!1

Wow! I would’ve thought dinner would be around 1000 calories! That’s absolutely amazing!!! And thank you for sharing this. I’ve been wondering for ages how many calories you eat. Calorie density is truly amazing 🤩

I think if you calorie count everyday it can make you a bit obsessive and like you say, you can’t do it forever. I’ve tried so many diets before where potatoes are off limit and it’s so sad as we shouldn’t have to cut everything out. Romi looked so cute and happy on your back. Honestly, you don’t have to explain yourself. As mums we can be hard on ourselves and I think you’re amazing and your children are lucky to have you as there mama ❤xxxxxx

Thanks for this informative video. So many people get really caught up in the calorie counting. If you’re choosing the right foods you shouldn’t have to do that. I love eating this way. Potatoes really are the way to go!
@Hellfire-vegan Жыл бұрын
This was really interesting. I think it’s really sad that a lot of us grew up thinking 2-300 calories per meal was a good number so when you think of meals being 5-600+ calories of healthy foods it seems excessive. It was a real light bulb moment for me to realise that actually that’s a weight loss meal for most women and I’d been starving myself which caused overeating for my entire life! I’m with you, no more calorie counting for me! I’m making those roast potatoes tomorrow!! 😋 x

I broke my neck a couple of years ago as a young, outgoing 22 year old. I instantly lost the use of 90% of my body so now get around as a pair of functional arms on wheels. Unsurprisingly when all you've got to work with is a pair of noodle limbs, you suddenly are chucked into a world where real world calories really do have to be seriously restricted. Only part of you works and it's really quite hard to get your heart rate up to make up for that through exercise too. I took part in recent metabolic study that put my baseline calories while being fairly active with lots of handcycling and (necessarily) upper body workouts thrown in, still came out as 1200 calories maximum. Any more than that and I'll put on weight and putting on a bit of weight in my condition doesn't just mean looking a bit chubbier and having more to cuddle, it means even more restricted mobility, medical gaslighting, poorer public perception and, for me, less chance of being piggy backed into fun gigs and the Scottish wilds by friends and boyfriends. 4 years in, I've not got too bad and I still probably weigh just over 60kg but my belly has definitely grown and probably will continue to do so. I do not have the luxury of eating the volumes you do, even though my internal capacity and habits have stayed the same when my output has lessened. Therefore, even your slimmest picking day here definitely would be classed as a day of gorging for me. Nevertheless, I found it very interesting and helpful to watch! Thanks! As you said over and over, every body is different and I'm glad you found your magic formula, I'll just have to continue to adapt and deal with my struggles in my corner 😊 unsolicited ramble over! 😂
@tonisharp8747 Жыл бұрын
I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you😢 I couldn't imagine how difficult that must be for you. And sticking to 1200 calories a day would be very challenging within itself. You are woman so you are STRONG and can get through anything. My thoughts are with you and I wish you happiness and forever love for your future❤
@KCallaAK Жыл бұрын
What a strong woman you are Katie! Thank you for sharing your story and I wish you the very best in accomplishing the best quality of life for yourself by staying at a good weight. At age 67, short, and not as active any more, I also have to make sure that my portions stay "smaller" and that the calorie density of my foods are low. You inspire me. After losing 60 lbs in 2010, I have maintained my weight loss by doing what I always call "tweaking". Well guess what... i went to the doctor (just had a hip replacement) and discovered I am now an inch shorter (5'3" now) and my "normal" weight has now moved to the overweight BMI... so I'm determined to take off another 8 to 10 lbs. Yep... more tweaking. We can do this. I bless you.

Could be that your gut needs to get used to a veg heavy diet or there’s an underlying issue with your gut that you may need to resolve. Gut health is crucial for following such a diet. In my case, I suffer from digestive issues too, so for me following such a diet is a no go. But once I’ve resolved said issues, this way of eating seems super satisfying!

@@dianaeritter76 sure thing - I found keeping a food diary super helpful to begin with, after which I followed the whole30 in order to track what foods were causing me digestive distress. Once I eliminated certain foods (mostly cruciferous vegetables) I got tested for SIBO having sought advice from a naturopath. Now I’m just working on balancing my gut bacteria so that I can hopefully start incorporating more fibre. Hope that helps!

Love this way of eating, I do actually count calories mainly because I have type 1 diabetes and need to know the carb counts of everything. I draw the line at weighing non starchy veggies though and just eyeball them. My needs are a little less than this for weight loss so I go for 1500-1600.

Given that most women’s maintenance is around (and I know that’s approx) 2000, 1800 is a very good amount to be eating for weight loss - only a slight deficit
@leas_lifestyle Жыл бұрын
@@EleriOnline But a person doesn't need to restrict calories like that for weight-loss. Doing so will only lower the metabolic rate over time and prime the body for fat storage instead of fat burning.
