great video Jaie... heartfelt and on point... I only wish that I could have become cabin crew.. I should have done it after nursing but continued to work in the field for 20 yrs , then changed to become a lawyer-- but i STILL wish I had have pursued this career path. At 56 .. it is but a dream.

No FaceTime or whatsapp?!! Oh my... My DOJ is Sep 21 and while I knew about Skype i didn't know about FT and whatsapp.... So what do crew use to video chat or voice call with friends and family?

Hm... so I would call my family via telephone plan for international calls voice calls and video them when they go on a flight at different countries. Also about the time when i was resigning they that options of paying for this monthly plan that allows you to use an app that allows you to video call. But i never used this service so i cant tell you how good or bad it is :( sorry! I hope my answer helps!!

When you arrived in Dubai first day , did you start to stay in crew build? İs it possible?

yup :) as soon as you arrive in Dubai, people will be there to great you and guide you to your new home which is in the crew complex.

nope, thankfully accommodation is paid for. But if you resign before then you do have to return the rent.

I am 1.90 centimetres... its just 30 centimetres more than the minimun and they have never said a thing about the height maximum to apply for the job... but, mi quiestion is: do u consider me too tall to become a fly emirates cabin crew??

i think its ok as long as you dont go over 200. :) there are alot of super tall people too (from the northern parts of Europe). The main focus is at reaching 212cm for safety so dont worry about it too much! go for it!

Im not so sure, but it's apparently blocked nationally. Even the store bought apple phones in Dubai just dont have facetime.

Yeah.. i know! now days watsapp calls and other app with online calls don't work too! its the carriers blocking it. It doesn't work even with VPN. It isn't a democratic country to start with so.. yeah! surprise! :)

Oh man, that sucks, what if all these expatriates want to video chat with their families? That’s just so bad and sentimentally “cruel”. You’re being far away from them, and you can’t even see them?!

Yeah, but it seems like everyone finds their way... As a crew I would talk to my families on my layovers. There is a monthly payment thing where you can use a special app made by the telcom companies but.. it never actually worked for me. Some just stick to international calls.
