I looked at these before landing on my E89 Z4 28i. Still wish i'd taken one for a test drive though, they look a ton of fun to drive.

Yes they are fun. Do need to put into Race and Manual to stop it changing gears itself.

I agree with you its the same here where i live in nz .modern cars dont feel fast so people drive faster to try and get the buzz you get in older car .

The way people change amazes me. Put them in an old Fiesta and see if they slow down. Probably wouldn’t now.

Paul, I agree with what you say because I see things the same way, the less a driver has to do the less he is aware of the actual features of the car when he really needs to know. In my opinion we are past the point of automation needed in new cars, Safety as you mentioned is good, Crumple zones, Air bags, Lane assist etc are all good, but now we have cars that will drive themselves, I know a man 71 yrs old that hates all new technology because he doesn't understand it, he is intelligent but its hard for him grasp all these new features in cars and the home, he is worthless with a cable TV remote and a tablet in any new vehicle. Last month he bought a new 2024 Ford Expedition, he was telling me how much he loves it, he was raving about how it can drive down the highway with virtually no help from him, It really surprised me and bothered me as I love to hold the steering wheel at 10 and 2 and be in control, it just seems like the start of trouble, I've heard about all the safety features but I'm not convinced its a good idea. I dislike tablets in cars that operate the radio and heating controls, Id sooner those be knobs and buttons I can feel and adjust without taking my eyes off the screen for a 2-5 seconds. Your Clio is Sweet... thanks....

Yes I think the next 10-20 years will probably see the biggest changes with vehicles since their introduction. I also believe there will be a ‘drive’ to reduce the number of people that can actually own and use a car. Whether through pricing or other means. Automation will definitely come and if it were not the fact that current technology has to deal with other, not automated, vehicles, we would probably be already fully adopted into this. I am like you. I want to have a physical connection with the car. I want to control the steering, the brakes etc. People in 100 years will probably look back at these times and say ‘did they have to drive it themselves?!!’

Yes, driving standards generally are appalling these days. People drive too fast, and I really hate how people pull out in front of you and then either hold you up by driving slowly or immediately turn off again, causing you to slow or stop???? It's got a lot worse since covid lockdowns, too, I think. The fact that so many people don't use their lights correctly also illustrates the general stupidity and lack of awareness.

Definitely changed after Covid. People seem to have become even more selfish and don’t see past their own bonnets. Also many are too occupied sending messages on mobiles (or they have a weird fascination of looking down at their lap).
