Would you be able to do this repair as fast if there was no texture? Where I live there is almost no texture just flat drywall so sanding is always a part of the a repair like that and it takes longer.
@thedrywalltech20 сағат бұрын
@@GolayaPravda good question. No, when I do smooth wall patches like I’m doing tomorrow, I will coat it out with hot mud” 5 minute mud “ until smoooth and then pull it tight with light weight . Then I will come back the next day to lightly sand the edges and paint . If it’s a smaller patch I would use a heat gun and fan so I could paint it in the same day. All depends on the size

Thank you and I wish your camera was pointed up some more. AND PLEASE keep making these videos. These are EXCELLENT. You are so talented and quick. Can you do one video real time (not speeded up) of using the sponge for smoothing out the hot mud? Regarding the last coat/skip coat was it all purpose compound? How long did it take to dry? And what was the temperature of the fan/room? Did the fan have a heater on it?
@justinflownow2 күн бұрын
Ah I see you answered my question regarding dry time: 45 mins. I thought all purpose compound took many hours to dry? Was this a special kind? Or was it so warm that it dried so quickly
@thedrywalltechКүн бұрын
@@justinflownow thank you for the compliments! Honestly when I decided to lane the first one I had no idea people would like to watch it lol. So I’m working on a better mount and the next one I upload will be at a slower speed . Just didn’t want to bore everyone 😂 My last coat is pretty much always 5 min or 20 min unless im doing smooth wall then it will be light weight or all purpose compound. No heater on the fan just blowing room temp air. Used that same fan today to dry and paint tow different jobs.

Hey man, love the art, it’s def a skill. Quick question on my popcorn removal, after mudding and sanding right before painting the ceiling, do I pass a wet sponge to take out the dust or just paint after the final sand? Not too sure on that

600 is kinda high... But then again I have seen prices of 600 bucks for a HVAC guy to install a furnace board in 5 min. Work looks good, and the fact that you don't wait to come back tomorrow to let mud dry is really nice.

More like 900+ for all that
@MSeroga2 күн бұрын
@@mofoz66 Yea I live in Washington State... we would easily charge 1.5k or 2k for something like that. Then again we would prime that wall, paint it 2 times not once... cut the base to match like it was before and not jam it in there... You don't cut OG base inside corners at 90 degrees and just shove them in there lol. Oh and we don't do skip trowel here which saves you 1 or 2 coats of mudding seeing as it can hide so much. The end result was decent but clearly the customer didn't care seeing as it got hidden behind the appliances.
@mofoz662 күн бұрын
@@MSeroga are you splitting it in two days or or doing it all in one day?
@MSeroga2 күн бұрын
@@mofoz66 splitting. It doesn’t always work out but I at times have multiple jobs like this so when there’s downtime and I’m waiting for primer to dry or a coat of mud, I go to the other job. Different parts of US have different codes and different standards. We also have different living expenses. So $600 in AZ is different than $600 in Cali for example.
