When he came back to his home to Aegean countryside his whole family were dead from war with Greeks, famine, diseases. He left a huge land and a huge wealthy family behind after Turkey became a secular and independent country after the war.

It's a very interesting story, a kind of war for independence is also going on in Ukraine (because if we lose, there will be a Russian occupation here) and I am a young student who is actively helping the army and studying to be a doctor. Huh? The ottoman armed forces had all kinds of different ethnicities within its ranks. Literally was the way since its inception, captured Byzantine town would have to provide conscripts which formed the basis for the infantry core in the ottoman army. It only ever expanded after that.
