Does California restrict wet sand blasting?
@StuccoPlastering3 ай бұрын
@@Pathasher I believe your referring to the system where the complete home is covered then shot with certain materials to remove contaminants, we did a video on it about 15 years ago. Too much work, when 4,000 psi pressure from water does the job.

California doesn't restrict blasting, but various counties might have differing regulations based on runoff/collection and the media that can be used. Typically, crushed glass is used, but in some cases other materials such as garnet or baking soda are utilized. Dry blasting is done when rust is a concern, or when you are working with something that might be otherwise sensitive to high pressure water and soft rubber gaskets or seals). "Dustless" blasting is also used in some cases, where water is added to the compressed air mix right at the nozzle, to aid in trapping airborne dust/contaminants. However, this creates a slurry/mud of material which must be collected afterwards. It WILL be messy! This feed water can be mixed with rust inhibitors as well. Again, best to find a local blasting service with good reviews that services your area. Older houses whose paint might have lead-based paint(even if it's a trapped coat under more modern lead-free paints) can still be considered "hazardous" so some contractors who don't want to try running under the radar might need to do a lead test if you're blasting painted surfaces to near bare material. As Kirk mentions in this video, power washing with the appropriate nozzle and pressure level is typically more than sufficient. But blasting does indeed have a place, and it is nowhere near extinct as a process required for particular applications.

@@4570Govt Quite true, I believe pressure washing works best and avoids the dreaded 35,000 dollar fine. No time to debate the city about to fine or not to fine. Been there once. No damned fun.
