No on your question. Remote turn on and off turns the sub on or off automatically. You have two ways to power the sub: 1. You tap into the rear speakers like I did. 2. You run a remote wire from the back of the deck to the sub. High level input only impacts your sound quality.

A powered sub means it has an amplifier built into the sub box. The sub has everything you need built into it. Your main question will be is how do you get power to the sub. Not talking about your ground or battery wire. You can tap into the rear speakers or run a remote wire to the head unit. It needs a signal to turn it on. I would try and do some research on all of it before jumping in. If this is your first time it can be a little challenging. Headed to bed now but happy to chat more tomorrow.
