Powerful Florida Thunderstorm In Bradenton 4K

The summer is here! This is our first summer thunderstorm. In Florida, when the summer arrives we get powerful thunderstorms with heavy rains and thunder almost daily like clockwork. These afternoon showers bring heavy rains daily to Florida's wet rainy season.

I can remember so many times cruising down 95 when suddenly heaven drops her hammer of fury and the ocean appears to be dropping out of the sky, visibility drops to minus zero and you could swear little bits of rain were hitting you here and there inside of the car. If you don’t slow way, way down (even though you want to get out of there fast) you may not make it safely through this maelstrom. Others take another tack and go racing into this wall of blindness hell bent for leather - Eventually it comes to an abrupt end and suddenly the sun is out and the road is dry. And many of those folks who went charging ahead into the squall have spun out on to the shoulder or worse. So you’re minding your own business, rolling along when suddenly Mother Nature starts to mind your business for you and for five minutes your life is truly, genuinely in peril. Then, just as suddenly it’s a sunny and bright and it’s off to your destination. Another typical South Florida day Thanks for the video - it takes me back to what once was my home away from home..

At one time I was a regular visitor to Florida from the UK and considered thunderstorms and the warm torrential summer rain all part of the Florida experience and strangely enjoyable. The only time I recall being a little concerned was driving from Orlando to Ft Lauderdale. The rain was so hard the wipers couldn't clear the windshield and the rain being thrown up from the wheels and hitting the wheel arches made it sound like the gearbox or drive shaft were grenading themselves. The only reason I kept going was that the tail lights of the car ahead were the only thing I could see. I couldn't see the cars around me well enough to find my way off the road if I wanted to. All that so I could drive the car along Ft Lauderdale beach 😄

Bradenton hasn't had very many thunderstorms this month of July. It's been unseasonably dry. I hope things turn around in August.

We have run into storm on I-75 between Brooksville and Zephyrhills in Hernando and Pasco Counties, just north of Tampa. One time, the wind shield wipers quit working on a newly purchased brand new Ford Explorer.

summer temps have been getting higher, dryer heat more common. summer rains less predictable. it used to be more uniform.

@@jolly7041 I remember similar weather as a regular visitor to Florida in the mid the 90's-00's. They used to call it thunderstorm 3:30 but later on on the 00's the time varied more. Nothing much has changed here in the UK. Flooding is televised and editorialised upon more but I wouldn't say anything has changed much, if at all, we just hear about it moe.

@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS It's cyclic. I remember several summers in 1999, 2000, and 2001 where storms were less common. But from 2002 to 2021, they were happening again. Same thing now. At that time, there was 3 straight years of La Nina, and there were 3 straight years of La Nina in 2020, 2021, and 2022. So it'll adjust and there will be more frequent storms again.
