Always awesome videos! I use the Alfano 6 dash, so will look for their solution there. Thanks as always Dez, cheers from Brazil!

Happy to help! Thanks heaps for tuning in. we have alfano 6 on our shop kart this year. just waiting for some extra sensors to turn up for more testing.

I use the Alfano 6 as well, let me know how it goes, I like this method, Lambda sensor, better than using an EGT sensor.

Great video Derek, thank you. Where is the change over between the low and high jet is it rpm or load based? Or do they both play a part throughout the rev range.

Hello! Thanks for this video and a lot of others. Do you know, is it possible to analyse this information on Alfano 6 2T? Thank you

hey KFGKT, yeah the Alfano does the same thing, but oyu cna look at the data from one on the other, if thats what you mean ? did you get a POWER REPUBLIC t-shirts yet ?

@@PowerRepublic t-shirt 👕 know. But why not )) I my question was about Alfano. I never use it before. Now I start drive in X30 and I use Alpfano. Before that 10 years I worked with AIM. And I try to find good manuals and can not to understand how to use all the possibility of software. Now I see on the graphics the temperature in every turn, but I did not find anything about Lambda. Where I can find t shirt and how can I receive it in the USA?

Hi Dereck, thanks for the video! Isn't 14:1 a little on the lean side for a WOT target? Have you guys ever done any lambda testing on a Rotax engine? Also, how does the load on the engine affect the AFR itself? You said in the video that if there is too much load on the engine it could effectively lean out the mixture.
@PowerRepublic2 жыл бұрын
Yeah 14•1 for 2 stroke seems to be a sweet spot. Haven’t used it in a Rotax in a while. But same would apply for 8000-11,500 rev range. Above and below that we had some irregular results.

Awesome video Dez. Would be cool to see a similar one with the tyre temp sensors if you have a set available and optimum temperatures for some of the various brands like vega, mg and dunlop
@PowerRepublic3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jamie. great idea, I haven't got any but that would be a great eye opener for everyone. Maybe AimSportSystems might lend us a set for the filming and research????
@jeanpierreferrand8956 Жыл бұрын
As far as i know, a proper tune for a 2 stroke racing engine should be around de 13 AFR, due to the most power/reliability ratio. a close to the 14,7 AFR engine could overheat and seize. What are your thoughts?
@p.c.h.67213 жыл бұрын
You’re the best Derek! 👍 I wonder why Lambda sensors being so much more precise than an EGT is not generally being used in Europe? Pretty much everyone I know uses an EGT, including myself, maybe the fact that an EGT sensor is relatively cheap and you can connect it directly to either the Mychron or the Alfano 6 without the need of anything else has to do with it.... with the Alfano 6 you need an external box where you can connect the Lambda and a bunch of other sensors and that external box is quite expensive, close to 400€, about $600 AUD An EGT is just such a vague number, you can do 650ºC or you can do 675ºC or even over 700ºC and with all those temperatures you are still fine, or at least so it seems, but I’m sure there is a perfect EGT number. It would be very interesting to fit an EGT and a Lambda sensor at the same time, in the same exhaust, and be able to see what ETG you get when you have a perfect lambda reading, then we would know exactly the right Exhaust Gas Temperature.
@PowerRepublic3 жыл бұрын
that's correct. the EGT is a little vague, although it is better than nothing. seems to be the go for KZ for some reason, even though the Lambda sensor is way more accurate over the wider RPM range. yes, for sure the EGT is also simple and way cheaper too
@sajanseyan3 жыл бұрын
Here in Canada, the rule books don't allow for lambda sensors. I'm not sure how it is in Europe, but that could be a deciding factor.

This was a really good tech video Dez thanks. I have two kids running tony kart 401 KA4 junior with EGT. I followed your steps and created the heat map for EGT. I am now confident enough to adjust the high jet to get optimal temperatures on the straights, but I figure with EGT I can’t really adjust the low jet for temperatures out of corners like you do for lamda. Is this right? Any tips?
@PowerRepublic3 жыл бұрын
Hey Dave, thanks heaps for the feedback and tuning in. Egt is a little vague. But a 100 degree spread is about what you are looking for. But it isn’t as clear cut as that. Maybe look for the average or pattern when adjusting the low and then ask for some driver feedback to confirm what you think is happening

So if you turn up the low jet to help out of the corners - does that affect the high jet (ie wind it off a bit?) or vice versa?
@PowerRepublic3 ай бұрын
yes to a degree, if you move one it can effect the other. once you have them dialled in, then it is usually just a minute in or out to make them perfect

my lambda value shoots up to 1.17ish under brakes on the 2 main hair pins at ippy, then lifting off the brakes and rolling through the corner it instantly plummets to 0.83ish. so on my GPS map it goes from red to blue instantly then back to green on the straight and I get the 0.93-0.99. should I be ignoring the high lambda value under heavy braking? great videos btw.

when the the kart is stuck to the corners (it feels bad and robs acceleration off the corners) we try and 'free' up the rear to get it to come off the corners faster. sorry, probably a bad explanation
