Thank you so much for your explanation. Awesome… Reminds me of physics class in 92-94” … Listening from Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺 Soon after I saw the news I knew from my common sense it was travelling at least around 150km/h. It’s good to see from your calculations I was very close. again if vehicle hit 140km/h was the impact speed, either driver breaks last minute means he was travelling 150km/h or he was trying to overtake and the container was trying to move lanes same time, as the container driver tell, jeep was indicating with headlights /horning to move the vehicle….
The rule of thumb I mentioned is based on a non distracted driver whose reaction time is only 0.75 seconds. With distracted driver it’s a totally different story. If you focus on the road one second is a very long time. Two seconds is an overkill. The best is to know your car and yourself as a driver rather than relying on average values.

By using the Presant social Examples, sir, you are describing the Hard Theory of Physics better. It is easy to understand anyone. You are taught never-ever-seen best physics.❤

Sir .... Please check the reaction time of the driver again. As per Google surfing it is around 750 ms on average.

The average reaction time for a simple stimulus-response task, such as pressing a button in response to a visual cue, is around 200 to 300 ms. However, in more complex and unpredictable situations like a car accident, the reaction time can be longer. In real-world scenarios, estimates for total reaction time in a car accident can range from 1 to 2.5 seconds or even longer. This time frame includes the perception of the danger, decision-making, and execution of a physical response.
