Im reminded of an old uncle who was at the battle of jutland in 1916 that both in the imperial german navy and the kreigsmarine german navy officers use to toast Admiral Horatio Nelsons victory at the battle of trafalgar in 1805 and also his birthday i dont know if its true but it was a nice gesture respecting LORD NELSON

If you carefully listen to the "Präsentiermarsch der NVA" you'll notice a disturbing resemblance to this beautiful pre-WWII "Marine Präsentiermarsch". Can we deem the albeit excellent result Alfred Pechau got to in 1956 as a veiled plagiarism?

this march is still used in the Bundesmarine

Thought exactly the same. You can here it perfectly in the beginning. This piece is just a bit slower...

Not plagiarism at all. Lots of songs that had been used by the nazis were banned even if they were not nazi songs due to its misuse by nazis, so I guess Pechau wanted to keep the essences when new marches had to be done, so that is why he created the präsentiermarsch der DDR.

Yes. I have always thought it. Pechau was excellent. His use of Horns was superb.

Originally a Dutch March written by Rauscher under the name: "Mars voor Gewone Pas Nr. 2", translating to "March for Regular Pace No. 2", written in 70bpm. I think it is one of the best parademarches the Netherlands has ever had. A shame it isn't played anymore.

It was played by the Dutch at the Netherlands Marine Corps, Korps Mariniers, 350th anniversary ceremony in Rotterdam in 2015.
I dont know who plays here, but they have more "zack" than the band playing at the graduation ceremony in Flensburg on august 9 2019. who is the navy officer without credentials? I think it is Otto Kretschmar, "silent Otto" among friends. Also Dönitz and Raeder are pictured.
