As a Catholic who was at one Protestant, I get the many ways we talk past each other and the different language we use. That said, Catholicism is a very relational practice of Christianity. A couple of things that might be helpful to note - 1) We agree there is one salvific mediator between God and man - Jesus. 2) We believe that ultimately any grace bestowed on Christians is through the power of God, and because of that there is no requirement to pray to anyone other than Jesus/God. However, there’s no reason not to ask for help and guidance from the entire body of Christ, both those on Earth and those alive in heaven. Asking for intercession is not necromancy or conjuring up spirits. We respect the saints and mother of Christ, even as Luther recognized. This is a different worldview to protestants, yes. But this is also how the Church has functioned throughout history. We do not view God as in competition with His creation, especially when they act as conduits to God’s glory (Is 26:12). I am sorry for anyone who has had a poor experience with the Church and I pray for reconciliation for those who left the Church and that one day we may be one again.

@akwinas_a_o Жыл бұрын
@@smoothsoulbrotha The saints absolutely can hear us and there’s biblical and traditional precedent for this no doubt a protestant would interpret differently. Okay, so set that aside. You can still make the same arguments for earthly intercession. Why not go directly to God in all cases? There are no mediators in any sense right? @@akwinas_a_o That's very different from being in presence of someone on earth. It takes mental gymnastics to state otherwise. You intend well but realistically no one except God has omniscience or omnipresence to be able to hear all of these prayers. The only way they can do so is if God tells them. I don't need anything supernatural to ask a friend to pray to God. They are right there. Huge difference. We who have relationship with God do go directly in all cases. It's more of a just be honest and realistic. Catholicism is hung up on the word protestant (which means nothing to me) and all sorts of trivial things to try to hide its sins and covering up poor judgement to attempt to appear correct. My faith is not defined by those opinions but rather what the Spirit guides and instructs me to do. Certainly direct prayer to the dead is a man made tradition. Outside of Christianity, it is prayer to the ancestors. If I desire to communicate with the departed, it's humbly leaving it to God to give the message. Regarding prayer, as a Catholic we believe we are commissioned by the Lord to pray for one another, with the church on Earth and in Heaven. James 5:16 “confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful.” 1 John 5:16 “If anyone sees his brother sinning, if the sin is not deadly, he should pray to God and he will give him life.” Thus, we ask one another to pray for us and we pray for one another as Christians. This prayer is efficacious, in that it is not useless or ineffective, but actually is a part of our baptism at 1 Peter 4:10-11 “As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of god’s varied [manifold] grace. 11 Whoever preaches, let it be with the words of God; whoever serves, let it be with the strength that God supplies, SO THAT IN ALL THINGS God may be glorified through Jesus Christ” so that “by the word of God, what is seen is not made out of what is visible” (Heb 11:3) and this word is Jesus Christ working through us because as at John 1:14-17 “he is the word became flesh . . . the Father’s only Son, FULL OF GRACE AND TRUTH . . . Grace and Truth came through Jesus Christ” . . . and continues to do so through us as stewards of God’s manifold grace (Mt. 10:7-11; Rev 1:5-6; 1 Peter 4:10). By our Baptism we are united into one body (Eph 4:4-6 4 “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all”). We are all united in God’s spirit (Colossians 1:16, “in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him”). It is his spirit that draws us to pray for and request prayer from one another. As Catholics we do not believe this stops because of death, but rather death is overcome and when we ask those who have died or not yet died to pray for us, we do so by means of the one body of our baptism. After-all, it is not us who pray, but rather the Holy Spirit who intercedes with inexpressible groanings (Rom 8:26), and the gates of hell will not withstand us (Mt 16:18). Thus, we view prayer not necessarily as worship alone, but rather also in communication to one another and God to continue building the Kingdom of God. Today, for example, we make a prayer to court when we file a motion or request; it is a prayer for relief. As such, prayers to angels, guardian angels, saints, or our dead are done to ask for assistance or further prayer to God, just as we would one another alive on earth, and not as a form of worship that is reserved to God, his Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit as one God in three persons alone. Rather, it is done in and within one body in communion with Christ as our Leader and Savior (Acts 5:30-32) by the Holy Spirit so that Hebrews 12:1 “since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us”. Thus, let me just say, asking for prayer to one another is not done in a vacuum, but rather it is done as brothers and sisters who worship Christ and him alone for allowing ourselves “to be like living stones, being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 2:5), as part of our true family in God (Mt 12:50 whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother). Asking for the assistance of angels is also done through Jesus and in his body, His people, the Church because in Jesus “we will judge angels” (1 Cor 6:3) and it is these angels that “are ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation” (Heb 1:14). And thus as ministers of grace in Jesus Christ, as priests called to sacrifice for one another and to the glory of our eternal Father, we call forth angels to minister for one another as well.

Dear brother, Mary is already resting with Jesus in Heaven. She doesn't need to strain herself to listen to the prayers of those who believe in Christ, nor can she do so-she is only human, not God! This is not about worshiping Mary, but about recognizing that she is only human and cannot hear all those who pray to her! Because only Christ, God, the Holy Spirit, Omnipresent and Almighty, only Christ hears us all at once and answers us. Can you imagine if 1.5 billion Catholics were to turn to Mary simultaneously, do you think Mary Almighty and Omnipresent would hear everyone and pray to Jesus for them? This is simply heresy, brother. God fills all in all, not Mary! Moreover, the Old Testament condemns communication with the dead, it was said-communication with the dead is an abomination before God, so one might mistake Mary's appearance for an appearance of Satan or a demon in the guise of Mary (or an angel of light), and you'll become another Joseph Smith, rejecting all Christian denominations and creating your own religion as a false prophet; these are the consequences of communicating with the dead. God forbade any form of communication with the dead; through this, Satan or a demon can bring deception and many problems. Like communicating with deceased relatives-it's occultism. So why open the door to demonic forces through communication with the dead? Scripture clearly states that the mediator between God and humans is Jesus, so why do we need a mediator between Jesus and us if Jesus is not Allah of Muhammad, who is somewhere far away, but Jesus Christ lives in us with His Spirit and hears us? Mary does not have such authority, tasks, and responsibilities-Jesus and the Apostles do not teach such things! If you ask church ministers to pray for you (living church ministers, living on earth at the moment), that is normal, scripture does not condemn it but speaks of it as a normal practice, but praying to the dead and asking the dead to pray to Jesus for you is, first of all, an abomination before God, secondly, it diminishes the role of the Holy Spirit and Jesus, and thirdly, it smells of occultism, dear ones. Finally, understand this, Catholics. May the Lord abundantly bless you and open your eyes. I love you. The love of Christ and the communion of the Holy Spirit, His grace and mercy be with us all. Amen.

@@MooJoo here is Bible Verses showing people who have Faith ask also can ask for prayer: Paul wrote to the Romans: “I exhort you, brothers, through our Lord Jesus Christ and through the love of the Spirit, to strive with me in prayers to God on my behalf, that I may be delivered from the disobedient in Judaea and that my ministry may be acceptable to the saints in Jerusalem, so that in the joy coming to you through the will of God I may rest with you” (Rom. 15:30-32). James says: “Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects” (James 5:16-17). Thus, according to Scripture, God wants us to pray for one another. This must mean that prayer for one another cannot detract from the role of Jesus Christ as our one mediator with God. Thus Mary’s intercession is indeed very very important. If you want to know why Mary’s intercession is important I can give Bible Verses. Also Praying to Saints in heaven is absolutely okay proven in Revelation, I can give specific verses if needed as well.

The interesting thing you realize when you read the Gospels from start to finish is how Mary doesn't really factor in the story as much as you'd expect. She is barely mentioned in Matthew or Mark, and is only mentioned a couple times in John. It's only in Luke that you get the nativity story, but Mary's role in Luke diminishes precipitously after that. You'd think that if Mary was meant to be such an important figure in a person's Christian life, the Word of God would say a lot more about her.

As someone who was raised in the Catholic church and has now been born again, I can say that as I now understand it, God wants a personal relationship with us. When Jesus teaches the apostles how to pray, he taught them to refer to God as Father, and when Jesus himself prays and says "Abba Father", which would translate more closely to "Papa" or "Daddy". So with that in mind, He does not want us go through others to ask for them to speak to Him on our behalf. He wants us to come to him directly like a child would to his father.

ONE LORD ONE FATIH ONE BAPTISM “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all” (Ephesians 4:4-6) The one baptism (and the only valid baptism), is the baptism of the one faith, the baptism authorized by the one Lord and practiced by the one body, the church of Christ. “For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body” (1 Corinthians 12:13). "Are you born again-the way the Bible understands that concept?" If the Evangelical has not been properly water baptized, he has not been born again "the Bible way," regardless of what he may think.The Born Again Movement traces its origin early in the 19th century.Born Again Movement arrived at our shores in the late 1930’s and gained its popularity in the 70’s and 80’s which is considered the golden era of Born Again Movement During these years membership in various Born Again Churches increased because they where able to infiltrate mainline Protestant Churches and had lured nominal Catholics into their fold.However their steady growth ceases starting the year 1990 and their membership declined in the succeeding years. In the year 2000 Born Again Churches from the United States sent their missionaries in the Philippines to re-established the Born Again Movement and this time their primary mission is no longer to infiltrate Protestant and Catholic Churches but targeted the youth in schools particularly college students.Born Again evangelist does not want to discuss the history of the Christian church, in their Bible studies with their prospects, they intentionally limit the discussion to the Bible alone. They conceal the history of the Christian religion because it will show that their movement did not originate from the apostles. It is necessary for them to negate history because St. Paul warned us not to accept teachings that did not originate from the apostles Gal.1:8 and Born Again Movement evidently cannot trace the history of their church into the time of the apostles.Clearly Born Again evangelization has deception as its chief foundation and they even used selected passages from the Bible to deceive people. They usually start evangelizing by asking ambiguous questions such as “Are you saved?” or “Are you born again?”, if the person answers “no or I don’t know” they will tell you that you must accept Christ as a Lord and Personal Savior in order to be born again otherwise you will be damned to hell. And if the person will answer “yes” they will invite you to their church and worship with them. And if the person is a Catholic that would mean that you have to leave the Catholic Church and do away your Catholic beliefs about Mary, the Saints, confession etc. Let us be vigilant not to fall to the snares of the Born Again movement.😎😎

Of course, it is God Who ultimately hears and answers our personal prayers, but He hears intercessory prayers, also. I have plenty of reminders of how unworthy I am for God’s mercy and grace but scripture says that I can approach the throne of God boldly with thanksgiving and praise. I don’t need someone else to do it for me however I do welcome joined prayers from fellowship of other believers in Jesus (people who are alive on earth) and join them in prayer as well for God’s will over our requests and intercession. I can agree with Catholics that Mary is a great woman and her life and story inspire my faith however I’m not praying to Mary nor have I found any scripture to encourage that either. It seems support to do that takes some stretch liberties with scripture and I don’t want to do that. There are plenty of stories of men mistakenly praying/worshiping angels in their presence and angel’s redirecting that glory to God. I think we have a human tendency to worship and glorify things and people that we shouldn’t be and our Father has to reign that in from time to time. Even the early Church got wayward in some of their early practices and Paul had to write letters to help correct and guide and lead us back to Jesus and the Gospel. I know God hears my prayers and have plenty of life testimony to feel rooted in that belief and knowing.

@@Littleangel_-jp4xb "Prayers to Mary" are asking for her intercession. The original meaning of the word "pray" is "to ask" as in the English phrase, "pray tell." Nothing in any of those prayers suggests that Mary can answer them. She can only take our prayers to God, and it's up to Him how He will answer. Were you taught where the Bible came from? (I wasn't. Catechesis has been poor for the past 50-60 years thanks to Modernists taking over and watering down the teachings). The councils of the Catholic Church did it. We didn't have a closed canon for over 300 years after Christ's death, books were expensive (hand printed until the 1500's) and the majority of the population couldn't read anyway. Culture of the time was that education was only necessary for government leaders and clergy. Education for all is originally a Catholic idea. So are hospitals. The Assumption of Mary and her crowned Queen of Heaven was believed from the beginning. Martin Luther didn't change that. He agreed with it. No one questioned it, though it wasn't made dogma until 1950. The Church guides us through cultural changes and needs to reiterate teachings when heresies arise against what was always believed. NO Catholic believes Mary determines salvation. She can intercede for us, (like asking any friend to pray for us) but again, it's all up to God to decide. "Nowhere in Scripture" again and again. "Scripture alone" was unheard of before the Protestant Revolution. It wouldn't have been possible before the invention of the printing press and increased literacy. If Christianity had been dependent on written words alone from the beginning, it wouldn't have lasted long. "By word of mouth or by letter" (as the Bible tells us) includes Sacred Traditions (different from "traditions of men") that are just as sacred as Sacred Scripture.

In short, Paul says Christians are to play a mediating role. Next verse, picks up after “for all men”: “For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.” (1 Tim. 2:2) St. Paul is making clear, not only are we to make prayers of intercession, supplication, etc. on behalf of all mankind, but even those in authority over us, such as kings! Why does St. Paul exhort Timothy and all Christisns to play this mediating role? Verse 3: “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour.” (1 Tim. 2:3) Who is “God our Saviour”? Jesus Christ, of course. Paul is saying quite explicitly that the mediation he is exhorting us to make “is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour,” in the sight of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. So now we get to verse 4, which tells us why Jesus Christ would desire this from us: “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”(1 Tim. 2:4) The reason we ought to make these various prayers of mediation is because Jesus Christ desires, “all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” And now we come to verse 5, not cherry-picked out of context but within the context of St. Paul’s first letter to Timothy, chapter 2, verses 1-6: “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.” (1 Tim. 2:5-6) In short, 1 Tim. 2:1-6 instructs all Christians to mediate on behalf of all mankind through different types of prayer, which are offered through the one mediator Jesus Christ. And in order to assuage any doubt about this, St. Paul adds: “Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity. I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.” (1 Tim. 2:7-8) So is St. Mary, Jesus’ Mother a mediator via Jesus Christ? Are the other saints in Heaven mediating on behalf of those on earth, via Jesus Christ? John 2:3, 5 gives a good example of Mary playing a mediating role in Jesus’ ministry: “the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine…His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.” The Book of Revelation suggests the saints in Heaven also play a mediating role: “and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus,” the martyrs. (Rev. 20:4) And even moreso in Rev. 4:10-11, “The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” And quite explicitly, Rev. 5:8, “and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.” And so, whereas Jesus Christ is the one mediator between God and man, St. Paul correctly understood that all Christians are called to share in this mediation of Christ through the offering of “supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks…made for all men.” (1 Tim. 2:1)🤦♂🤦♂

Catholics love and agree fully with that verse. However, we also know the shortcoming of this approach. Looking at scripture more fully, we recognize that we are called to share in the priesthood of all believers: You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 2:5) You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. (1 Peter 2:9) A priest, by definition, is called to be a mediator between God and men. In a limited way, each of us, as priests, are called to this role and to be mediators for others before God through Jesus. Therefore, if we are all called to be mediators and intercessors for one another, how much more can this be said of the Virgin Mary, Mother of God, who said, “Yes” to God and brought Jesus into the world?

When people say "where in the Bible does it say to pray to Mary?" we have to remember that she was a contemporary of the Apostles and their companions (who wrote the NT) so obviously beyond what Luke wrote about her in his Gospel, is just conjecture. I have a huge amount of love and respect for Mary but I agree, best to leave it there and just pray to God.

He laid down the conditions of salvation thus: "He that believeth and is baptized," said the Son of the Living God, "shall be saved, but he that believeth not shall be condemned" (Luke 16:16). Here, then, Our Blessed Lord laid down the two conditions of salvation: Faith and Baptism. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, but he that believeth not shall be condemned - or is damned Catholics not Born again Justin who died for his faith said in 151 A.D. “As many as are persuaded and believe that what we [Christians] teach and say is true . . . are brought by us where there is water and are regenerated in the same manner in which we were ourselves regenerated. For, in the name of God the Father . . . and of our Savior Jesus Christ, and of the Holy Spirit [Matt. 28:19], they then receive the washing with water. For Christ also said,‘Unless you are born again, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven’ [John 3:3]” (First Apology 61). Around 190 A.D., Irenaeus, the bishop of Lyons, wrote, “And [Naaman] dipped himself . . . seven times in the Jordan’ [2 Kgs. 5:14]. It was not for nothing that Naaman of old, when suffering from leprosy, was purified upon his being baptized, but [this served] as an indication to us. For as we are lepers in sin, we are made clean, by means of the sacred water and the invocation of the Lord, from our old transgressions, being spiritually regenerated as newborn babes, even as the Lord has declared: ‘Except a man be born again through water and the Spirit, he shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven’ [John 3:5]” (Fragment 34). In the year 252 A.D., Cyprian, the bishop of Carthage, said that when those becoming Christians “receive also the baptism of the Church . . . then finally can they be fully sanctified and be the sons of God . . . since it is written, ‘Except a man be born again of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God’ [John 3:5]” (Letters 71[72]:1). Augustine wrote, “From the time he [Jesus] said, ‘Except a man be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven’ [John 3:5], and again, ‘He that loses his life for my sake shall find it’ [Matt. 10:39], no one becomes a member of Christ except it be either by baptism in Christ or death for Christ” (On the Soul and Its Origin 1:10 [A.D. 419]). Augustine also taught, “It is this one Spirit who makes it possible for an infant to be regenerated . . . when that infant is brought to baptism; and it is through this one Spirit that the infant so presented is reborn. For it is not written, ‘Unless a man be born again by the will of his parents’ or ‘by the faith of those presenting him or ministering to him,’ but, ‘Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit’ [John 3:5]. The water, therefore, manifesting exteriorly the sacrament of grace, and the Spirit effecting interiorly the benefit of grace, both regenerate in one Christ that man who was generated in Adam” (Letters 98:2 [A.D. 408]). Let us be vigilant not to fall to the snares of the Born Again movement.

In apprehending God, one may make a good argument that they see what God sees in the beatific vision. It's an assent to the knowledge of God as he is, which is what he himself sees, but only with the unalterable limitations of the created intellect and God's own will to hide certain things from the saints. You can know God but not fully comprehend him, it's simply not possible, and neither will we comprehend all things in him perfectly, so we will presumably learn for all eternity. What fun! So, I don't doubt they see us, and hear about what we're doing, and much much more than that. Or rather, I don't doubt that they can, and perhaps do on occasion. Anybody's guess what it's actually like though. Still not reason to pray to them.

Rev 5 :8-12 ➨ INTERCESSION of the SAINTS: REV 5 v 8... 8😍😍 When he took it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each of the elders held a harp and gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of the holy ones. 9 They sang a new hymn: "Worthy are you to receive the scroll and to break open its seals, for you were slain and with your blood you purchased for God those from every tribe and tongue, people and nation. Only an Omniscient God can understand all the languages of all nations Nations..John Is a creature and Cant. Only an Omniscient God. 13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, everything in the universe, cry out: "To the one who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor, glory and might, forever and ever."Now John HERD ALL THIS all those languages of the earth. How did He hear all those Languages and understand them . God Had to have made it possible for John why couldn’t he do that for those in Heaven as well.. So why cant Mary and the saints hear since they have an Omniscient God to Make things Know to them the saints don’t have to Be Omniscient. God gave them that ability. This Makes It Know to those Saints In Heaven That God would avenge the saints On earth at a Further tine The lord can Make know to those in heaven what happens on earth at a future time They are Now aware of thing going on Now do you think since they pray to the Lord they would not be praying to the Lord for their Brothers and Sisters of their fellow servants and brothers who were going to be killed as they had been to preserve them as the others had been . What act of Love are Christians told to do for one another Pray for one another Rev18: 19-24 What’s the reaction to those in heaven… To the destruction Of Babylon On earth if they aren’t made aware of what’s happening on earth. God made them aware giving Biblical proof that The Saints can be made aware of what’s taking place on Earth. They must have seen it Because allowed them to see it. Mathew 18:6-7 Do not harm little children because God loves them as well as Babes in the Faith Physically or spiritually. . 6But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Why does he say this “Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven. What does that mean the Angles are assigned to these children to watch over them and pray for them. They go before the father and Intercede for them . How do Angles know what is taking place on earth Angles are not Omniscient God thru the Holy Sprit reveals it to them they don’t have to be Omniscient. Luke 15:7 I tell you, in just the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance. How can People in heaven rejoice over someone coming to repentance? If they’re not aware of their repentance. Now since Mary and the Saints are In heaven are they aware of their repentance and rejoice. Those in Heaven must be aware of what’s happening on Earth. Luke 15:10 In just the same way, I tell you, there will be rejoicing among the angels of God over one sinner who repents." Those in Heaven must be aware of what’s happening on Earth i 8 2 14 The four living creatures answered, "Amen," and the elders fell down and worshiped. 10 You made them a kingdom and priests for our God, and they will reign on earth." 11 I looked again and heard the voices of many angels who surrounded the throne and the living creatures and the elders. They were countless 5 in number, 12 and they cried out in a loud voice: "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches, wisdom and strength, honor and glory and blessing." 13

How can Mary, who was and still is human, be present everywhere to listen to all the prayers addressed to her; or to know who is praying what? Isn't omnipresence and omniscience exclusive attributes of God? Jesus can hear the prayers of his people and intercede for us--all of us, his people [no matter the number, location or mode of communication]--on account of him being God. But how can the Mary do that?
@bigfootapologetics Жыл бұрын
Omniscience and omnipresence are knowledge of all things, not knowledge of just a subset of things that are directed toward you - in this case, a limited number of prayers. If Mary is capable of hearing prayers, it’s because heaven is outside of time and space and because by some means of God’s grace, she’d have the ability to answer all them. For all we know, all it takes is for Mary to say one time, throughout all of eternity, “Lord, I pray for everyone asking for better health. I pray for everyone suffering from heartbreak. Etc.”

Have you ever listened to the words of the most used Marian prayer of all, the Hail Mary? *** "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee." *** This is nothing more than the salutation of Gabriel in Luke 1:28. *** "Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb (Jesus)." *** That is Elizabeth's greeting to Mary in Lk 1:42. ***"Holy Mary, mother of GOD." *** She is a saint which makes her holy, and she is the Mother of GOD, because Elizabeth calls her the 'Mother of Our Lord' in Lk 1:43. Also if you take Jn 1:1 "...and the Word was GOD', and add it to Jn 1:14, "...and the Word was made flesh", GOD was made flesh, and who was His mother? Mary! *** "Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen." *** This is nothing more than petitioning Mary to PRAY FOR US, just like in the Bible verses I presented. Do we 'pray to' Mary, or are we only petitioning her to pray for us? Rom 15:30, "...help me by your prayers to GOD for me." Col 1:9, "This is why we too have been praying for you unceasingly." 1Thes 3:10, "Night and day we pray more and more..." 2Thes 1:11, "To this end we pray always for you." 2Thes 3:1, "In conclusion brethren, pray for us..." Jam 5:16, "...and pray for one another that you may be saved." Rev 8:3-4 "...that he may offer it with the prayers of all the saints..." According to Scripture, are the saints in Heaven dead or alive? Now the next question is, 'Yes, but it is repetitious (the Rosary) and that is forbidden by scripture'. (Mt 6:7) OK, look at the entries listed above which have the asterisk (*) in front of them. Are not Col 1:9, "This is why we have been praying for you unceasingly...", 1Thes 3:10, "Night and day we pray more and more...", and 2Thes 1:11, "To this end we pray always for you...", repetitious? Is this one of those so called 'Bible Conflicts' you hear about from time to time? No, not at all. The answer is that the Bible refers to two types of prayer repetition '(V)ain', in the manner of heathens, and '(U)seful', NOT in the manner of heathens. The Rosary is not vain repetition. Here is a list of some in each category that you can check in your Bible. (V) 1King 18:25-29, (U) Isa 6:3, (U) Dan 3:52-90, (V) *Mt 6:7, (U) Mt *26:44, (U) *Lk 6:12, (U) Lk 18:1,9-14,*21:36, (U)*Col 1:9, (U) 1Thes 3:10,5:17, (U) *Jam 5:16, (U) **Rev 4:8 Many non-Catholics have the false belief that praying to "dead" people is useless. The c9nte " tye context of that verse is his Redemption as the very next verse explains," who have himself a Redemption for all". He is the one mediator of redemption. And paul in the very first of that chapter says," I desire therefore that supplications, prayers, INTERCESSIONS be made for all men.... for these are good and acceptable in the sight of God our savior, who will have all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth". Then he follows later explaining christ as one mediator. This proves that intercessions dint conflict with his one mediatorship since they are about participating in it.

I would like to add that in all of Holy Scripture, Old Testament and New, any time any believer in the Lord God Almighty prays, it is ALWAYS directly to the Lord God Almighty, that is, directly to the Father. "But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you." I would reframe the question into 2 questions: Is it alright for me to ask you to pray for me? I am going to assume you said “yes”. Is it ok to ask Mary to pray for me? If you say “No”, then you have elevated yourself more worthy than Mary. Every prayer of Mary’s must go thru Jesus. Every prayer of Mary’s must go through Jesus. That is what the Catholic Church teaches. What did the Arch Angel say greeting Mary? “Hail Mary full of grace. The Lord is with you, blessed art thou and blessed is thy womb”. Mary is the Mother of those who are born again. We are baptized into the Body of Christ. If you cling to Eve as your mother? You have not been born again. There are people who do not have recourse to Mary. What?? This too is a teaching of the Catholic Church. Is it due to Spiritual weakness or Spiritual strength? I do not know. When or if we get to Heaven, ask. 🎚

If you ask church ministers to pray for you (humans who alive and living on earth at this moment), that is normal, scripture does not condemn it but talks about it as a normal practice, but praying to the dead and asking the dead to pray to Jesus for you is, first of all, an abomination before God, secondly, it diminishes the role of the Holy Spirit and Jesus, and thirdly, it smells of occultism, dear ones. Angels pick up the prayer in the bowl and uplift ( greek word is Echo it ) and give it to God then Angels come and respond to it by sending fire and wrath. We also see that intercessor is the role of Christ, the holy spirit but the church in scripture. We are to intercede for another. It is said. Why would we stop intercepting once died? Did christ when he die stop interceding surely not. People are also confused mediator and intercessor. Mediator is christ alone. He alone make heaven and forgiveness accessible. ✨️ intercessor is of christ, holy spirit and church and it is to pray for each other and help by physical and spiritual means. They repeat the same words over and over again as if saying it a lot of times will make a difference even though it is in direct contradiction to what Jesus Christ instructed us in His model prayer which is often erroneously called the Lord's prayer. We are specifically told not to use "vain repetitions". Yet, that is exactly what they are doing. Mary was a good woman no doubt, but she would never want anybody to pray to her or request her to pray for them. In fact, it is a sin to do so. She also was not a perpetual virgin. Four of her sons that she had with Joseph after the virgin birth of Jesus are named in scripture as well as at least 2 or more of their daughters so they had a minimum of 6 children after Jesus was born by the virgin birth miracle. Two of their boys, James and Jude, were writers of the New Testament books of James and Jude.

I'm Catholic and I agree with Mike. I've never prayed to the saints for this exact reasons. I don't want to judge others. There are many Catholic stories and legends of people actyally contacting saints or receiving apparitions of them that are quite convincing and seem to give good fruits. On the flip side some of the prayers to Mary seem VERY disrespectful towards God too. Calling her savior of the world, people giving up their souls and laying their salvations on her hands and other such things, are honestly frightening to me whenever I witness them in my parish. So what do I do? I know one thing for certain. Nobody in the Bible prays to the saints. If Apostles can be good Christians without praying to the saints, so can I.

Reading through Catholic history, as I've not had first-hand experience like you, I've found many highly offensive examples of idolatry being practiced by lay-catholics that went entirely un-chastised by the magisterium. What's worse is they didn't just turn a blind eye to it, they outright fostered and encouraged it, using it to exploit the church, giving them specific prayers to pray in certain parts of the world on certain days for specific "limited-time only" blessings. Certainly leaves a bad taste in one's mouth.

As a Catholic, you should be aware of the fact that Catholic Teachings on Praying to the Saints and Calling for Mary’s intercession is not sin, here is biblical evidence: In a dream, God commanded King Abimelech to ask Abraham to intercede for him: “For [Abraham] is a prophet and he will pray for you, so you shall live” (Gen. 20:7). When the Lord is angry with Job’s friends because they did not speak rightly about God, he tells them, “Let my servant Job pray for you because I will accept his [prayer], lest I make a terror on you” (Job 42:8). SECONDLY: The faith of the Church is that the saints are not really dead, but are fully alive in Jesus Christ, who is life itself (John 11:25; 14:6) and the bread of life who bestows life on all who eat his flesh and drink his blood (John 6:35, 48, 51, 53-56). The saints are alive in heaven because of the life they have received through their faith in Christ Jesus and through their eating of his body and blood. The book of Revelation shows the saints worshipping God, singing hymns, playing instruments, making requests to Christ to avenge their martyrdom, and offering prayers for the saints on earth (Rev. 4:10, 5:8, 6:9-11). 3RD: Does the Bible say we should approach the saints with our prayers? Yes, in two places. In Revelation 5:8 John saw the Lamb, Christ Jesus, on a throne in the midst of four beasts and 24 elders. When the Lamb took the book with the seven seals, the 24 elders fell down before the Lamb in worship, “each one having a harp and golden bowls of incenses, which are the prayers of the saints.” Similarly, in Revelation 8:3-4 we are told that something similar happened when the Lamb opened the seventh seal of the book: “Another angel came and stood on the altar, having a golden censer, and many incenses were given to him, in order that he will give it with the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar before the throne. And the smoke of the incenses went up with the prayers of the saints from the hand of the angel before God.” Ok now that we have proven that praying for intercession of Saints is good, especially Mary, one more evidence specially for intercession of Mary is Wedding at Cana, now about disturbing prayers to Mary, honestly I think if you knew Catholic teachings on Mary you would not feel disturbed, biblical evidence for Mary being our Mother is found when Jesus was on the Cross, as evidence for her being Queen is found in revelation plus the fact that The Mother of king of the Jews at around the time of David was the Queen, so we should Honor and venerate her, as for giving her their souls etc, I think you Mean Holy Slavery to Mary, you go to Jesus through Mary, Mary being the Queen and our Mother will help us reach to Jesus, this does not mean that She is more important then Jesus, NO, because we only Worship Jesus and Love him above everything else. Mary leads us to Jesus. If you have any further concerns of Catholic teachings, ask me more I can help if you want, beware of feeling worried, feelings are not always accurate to leading us to truth, the devil will tempt us in any way or feelings to get us out of Catholicism.

Who else would have been alive to recount those stories? Jesus, Joseph, John the Baptist? Nope. Only Mary. But consider this: Mary was present with the disciples on the day of Pentecost when the disciples were overshadowed by the Holy Spirit. Do you think it was helpful to them that she knew what was happening because she had been overshadowed 30 years earlier? And while the disciples had three years with Him, Mary had 33 years. Do you think maybe they asked her some questions about Him after the ascension? Yeah, me too. Finally, is there an example in scripture of Mary interceding on behalf of others? The scriptures are clear. It is God that we cast our requests and cares upon, not to the saints, Mary, the angels or anyone else.
@bibleman8010 Жыл бұрын
"I urge then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings, for all those in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and holiness. This is good and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man, Christ Jesus." 1Timothy 2:1-5 Jesus is the one Mediator of our salvation, our only Saviour. But He is not our only intercessor, as the whole passage above clearly indicates. So the one passage that fundamentalists have used to deny intercessionary prayer, when read in context, actually backs up intercessionary prayer. James 5: 16-18 " ...The fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful. Elijah was a human being like us; yet he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain upon the land. Then he prayed again, and the sky gave rain and the earth produced its fruit." So we see that intercession strengthens prayer. And the more righteous and faithful the intercessor is, the more powerful the prayer. BUT THAT IS PRAYER ON EARTH. I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT PEOPLE IN HEAVEN CAN NEITHER SEE US OR PRAY FOR US. That is a recent, man-made doctrine, with no authority behind it. Hebrews 12.1 speaks of "a great cloud of witnesses" who surround us, and who consist of the faithful holy ones of God. Many examples of these witnesses are given in the preceding Chapter 11 of Hebrews. Later in the Bible we see this vision of heaven: Revelation 4.4: Surrounding the throne were twenty four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. Revelation 5.8: ...and the twenty four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. Seeking Mary's intercession probably dates back to the earliest Christians. One of the oldest Christian prayers recorded in writing, the Sub Tuum, from the 200s AD, is a prayer to Mary: We fly to your patronage, O holy Mother of God. Despise not our petitions in our necessities, But deliver us from all dangers, O ever-glorious and Blessed Virgin! BUT I DON'T NEED MARY WHEN I CAN GO DIRECTLY TO GOD. Why not say "I don't need the rest of my family as long as I have my father"? The Church is a single body; the different members interelate and rely on one another: "The eye cannot say unto the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!" (I Co 12:21). St. Irenaeus Against Heresies (circa 189 A.D.) : ..the virgin Eve, betrothed to a man but nevertheless still a virgin, was unhappily led astray,-- yet that deception was done away with because the Virgin Mary, betrothed to a man but nevertheless still a virgin, heard the truth spoken by an angel, and was obedient. For just as the former was led astray by the word of an angel, so that she fled from God when she had transgressed His word; so did the latter, by an angelic communication receive the glad tidings that she should sustain (portaret) God, being obedient to His word. The former disobeyed God, yet the latter was persuaded to be obedient to God, so that the Virgin Mary might become patroness (advocata) of the virgin Eve. And thus, as the human race fell into bondage to death by means of a virgin, so is it rescued by a virgin; virginal disobedience having been balanced in the opposite scale by virginal obedience. In the same way the sin of the first created man (protoplasti) is made amends by the correction of the First-begotten, the coming of the serpent is conquered by the harmlessness of the dove, those bonds being unloosed by which we had been fast bound to death.🤣🤣

But most important of all: the whole point (the context) of the Hail Mary is not Mary but the incarnation of Jesus. Without the incarnation, we would have no Our Father. If Jesus had not taken flesh in her womb, we would necver have heard of her. So whenever we pray the Hail Mary, we are professing our faith in Jesus, the Word made flesh. As she said to Elizabeth, her soul magnifies the Lord; everything about her speaks of God.👍👍 Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Luke 1:29 "Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you." (Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee) Luke 1:38 "Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb." (blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus) 1 Corinthians 7:34 "An unmarried woman or a virgin is anxious about the things of the Lord, so that she may be holy in both body and spirit." (Holy Mary) Luke 2:6-7 "6 While they were there, the time came for her to have her child, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn son." (Mother of God) 2 Corinthians 1:11 "as you help us with prayer, so that thanks may be given by many on our behalf for the gift granted us through the prayers of many." (pray for us sinners now) Matthew 10:22 "but whoever endures to the end will be saved". (and at the hour of our death. Amen.) I don't think you would disagree with me on the Lord's Prayer, Glory Be, and the Apostle's Creed, but if you do, then tell me :0)

"without the incarnation, we'll have no Father." Who was the father to the children of Israel? Proverb 30:4 sees YHWH saying he has a Son. All those are excuses to justify the cultic worship of Mary. Go and read the Glories of Mary and see how she commands God and God obeys. She's also called Omnipotent. Go and read your sources instead of believing hearsay You just quoted passages that has nothing to do with praying to dead saints. Scriptures doesn't support you, neither the early first and second century church.

In Matthew 4, Satan also (improperly/wrong context) quotes Scripture. That is to say, just because bible verses are quoted, it doesn't mean that they're being used properly or quoted correctly. Also. Mary is the mother of Jesus, who is God. She is Not the Mother of God. There is a difference.

Genuine question, and I won't reply if you decide to answer. How do you know your father or anyone in heaven can't hear you? Where in the Bible does it say people in heaven can't hear us? Revelations 6: 9-11 shows the people in heaven are aware of the events on earth when martyrs prayed to God for the persecutions to stop. Revelations 5:8 shows people in heaven are aware of our prayers when they present our prayers to God.

Rev 6: And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? Revelation is full of symbolism so we must be careful of taking symbolism literally, with the effect that it contradicts plainly stated scriptural truth. The bible is clear that the dead remain dead in every sense until the physical resurrection. This commentary on the saints in heaven in Rev 6 is not to be taken literally. If so, then one must conclude that the souls of the dead live under an altar. With all the glories of heaven, they are destined to live under an altar. And their only knowledge of the world according to this text is that they know that their martyrdom is yet to be avenged. Why assume from this that they know of every act taking place on earth! Rev 5: And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. It is not clear from context who the elders represent. Are they angels? They have bowls symbolically containing the prayers of the saints. The bible calls all believers saints. These prayers were said by living believers, with this vision showing that their prayers do indeed reach God. It is a complete departure to claim that the prayers were offered to dead saints in heaven, for them to pass them on to God.

@@geordiewishart1683 Revelations 5: The incents are more than symbolism. They are our prayers. Something can be symbolic and real in reality. The Bible is clear that the elders are not angels. Revelations 8:5 says angels did the same thing elders did in 5:8 (present a bowl of indents (prayers) to God). Also, elders were never referred to as elders. Men were always referred to as elders. No one ever said prayers are offered to dead Saints in heaven. That wasn't the point I made. The point of Revelation 5:8 is that the Saints in heaven are aware of our prayers because they are presenting our prayers to God. If they are aware of our prayers, why can't they pray for us as well? Also, prayers to Saints in heaven doesn't teach that our prayers are offered to Saints. It simply means we are asking the Saints in heaven to pray for us like how we ask Saints on earth to pray for us. Why is that going over people’s heads? Revelations 6: I believe Revelations is both symbolic and teaches what is reality. You said we shouldn't take Revelations literally to avoid contradicting what is plainly in Scripture. What Bible verse (clearly) states that people in heaven are not aware of the events on earth? Even you acknowledge the Saints in Heaven are aware their martyrdom hasn't been avenged. They are aware of something on earth, and they are not living under the alter. If God allows angelic beings and the devil to know the events of the living, why can't God allow the Saints in heaven to at least be aware of the events in the living realm? If God allows the devil to personally attack us, why can't God allow the Saints in Heaven to be aware of the events I the living realm?

The new Ark, new Eve Wouldn’t the bride of Christ be a more appropriate eve?? Having mary as the new eve is a little incestual. Mary wasn’t the NT focus unless you shoe in “The Gospel of James”. Was it not Adam who is credited for the fall rather than eve? Did Paul not say For if, because of one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ??? Even replacing eve argumentatively seems out of character with scripture. Its about correcting Adam, not eve. Mary as the new Ark, thats obvious in logic, but the original ark wasn’t a focal point but a carrier. The cloud of God was above the Ark. all bowed to the cloud presence of God, not the ark. The original Ark carried scripture, Gods truth, not God himself. Today wouldn’t the new ark be the pillar and foundation of the Truth? How can it be reliable beyond hopeful wishful thinking? Roman Catholic Church doesn’t consider it scripture and Jesus doesn’t fulfill any of its contents according to the New Testament. It seems to suffer similar error to the deuterocanonical cannon. The ancient church is riddled with apostasy behaviors trying to deter from the traditions of the gospel by means of circumcision or bull and goat sacrifices or Jew and gentile separations. Ravenous wolves would infiltrate the church and try to derail them. So the problem comes with authentication. This text relies more on the assumptions than verification. When I observe this text, yes it shows practice today but it does not show verification like the law and prophets show with the New Testament. We verify the New Testament by the OT which is why it was so easy to canonized the new testament. But with this Gospel of James, all it really seems to prove is fanfiction existed back then. what im saying is ALL NT writings has to be fulfillment text foretold by the OT. NT cannot exist outside that set up. Mary is mentioned ONCE in the prophets. "Born of a Virgin" and i think she pulled from the Psalms in her Magnificat. Beyond that, shes never mentioned at all.

He is a SAINT and has excess merit and praying to him can get u out of purgatory sooner as he can deposit some of his merit on your behalf. There is a difference between asking family or friends to pray For you, to praying To dead people! Jesus is both Mediator, Intercessor & Advocate. If Jesus is sufficient for all those roles then why do we need to pray to Mary or one of the saints, who by the way, are departed? Yes, they are alive in heaven, however, there is no scriptural basis for praying to them, rather the opposite is true! Intercession is biblical for you and I who are living, to pray FOR one another, but not to ask departed saints to pray for us. The saints in heaven may be privy to the prayers of the saints on earth. However, nowhere in scripture are we instructed to pray To Them or ask them to pray for us! The Bible actually instructs us to call on God not the Dead! Isaiah 8:19-20 Someone may say to you, “Let’s ask the mediums and those who consult the spirits of the Dead. With their whisperings and mutterings, they will tell us what to do.” But shouldn’t people ask God for guidance? 20 Should the living seek guidance from the Dead? Look to God’s instructions and teachings! People who contradict his word are completely in the dark. Verse 20 is the point, if the Bible calls them dead, then they are dead from our perspective. Then they are no longer on earth & we are not to call on them. By praying To them, we are taking the attributes of God and placing them on mere humans! Only God is Omnipresent(everywhere at once), Omniscient(knowing everything at all times), Omnipotent(all powerful) & Omnibenevolent(supremely Holy & Good). If the word of God tells us to come to Him directly, then why do we need to pray to anyone else??? Jesus himself taught us how to pray 'Directly' to the 'Father'!!! Take a look at the following scriptural references: Romans 8:34 [34]Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes INTERCESSION for us. Hebrews 4:14-16 [14]Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. [15]For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. [16]Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 7:23-27 [23]Also there were many priests, because they were prevented by death from continuing. [24]But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. [25]Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make Intercession for them. [26]For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens; [27]who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the people’s, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. 1 Timothy 2:5 [5]For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, Acts 4:12 [12]Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Jeremiah 29:12-13 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 33:3 Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. Philippians 4:6-7 [6]Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; [7]and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Romans 8:26-27 [26]Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. [27]Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Matthew 6:6,9-15 [6]But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. [9]In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. [10]Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. [11]Give us this day our daily bread. [12]And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. [13]And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. [14]“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. [15]But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. 1 John 5:14-15 [14]Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. [15]And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. 2 Chronicles 7:14 [14]if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Psalms 17:6 [6]I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God; Incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech. Psalms 102:17 [17]He shall regard the prayer of the destitute, And shall not despise their prayer. Psalms 145:18-19 [18]The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth. [19]He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them. Proverbs 15:29 [29]The Lord is far from the wicked, But He hears the prayer of the righteous. Romans 10:13 [13]For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:9-13 [9]If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. [10]For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. [11]As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” [12]For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile-the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, [13]for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Yes, in John 1:14 Says that: John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. Now, we have this part from John 1:14: "the only begotten of the Father". And we have this part from John 1:1: "and the Word was God". As I told you above, in my previous comment, Jesus Christ is the Word, so, Jesus = The Holy Scriptures. But the Holy Scriptures (The Word), do not come from Jesus, they come from God and that's why the same Jesus says this in John 12:49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. Now, we can see God sent His Son and Gave to His Son Jesus Christ a commandment. Commandment = What Jesus should say, and what Jesus should speak (The Word of God) = Jesus. Then we can affirm for what it says in John 12:49 that *Jesus is NOT God*. But, Jesus is the commandment of God, Jesus = Commandment of God = The Holy Scripture = The Word of God. Then, in Jesus we have God *(I am NOT saying Jesus = God)*, when we have Jesus, we have the commandmet of God, so, in Jesus we also have God. That is why in John 1:1: "and the Word was God". Because in the Word, we have God, we have the understanding of His will. and the ONLY way to have God is through His Son Jesus Christ. Thats why I shared in the first Comment of this chain of comments the following verse: 1 Timothy:2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; (God the Father and Christ Jesus Son. Father and Son are Not the same). I hope all this helps you any sr. There are a lot of things I would love to share with you and see what God has shown you how to please Him. The Council of Trent declared: “ . . . if they [men] were not born again in Christ, they would never be justified, since in that new birth there is bestowed upon them, through the merit of His passion, the grace by which they are made just . . 408]). Let us be vigilant not to fall to the snares of the Born Again movement.😆😆

prayers with vain repetition- Jesus Christ preached against that calling church leaders “fathers” - Jesus Christ preached against that Jesus Christ is the only mediator to The Father- this is in The Bible we are not to idolize- catholics removed the 2nd commandment from their Bibles We are forgiven by repentance- catholics add confession and doing certain things like hail mary holy water/holy salt, etc- that is nowhere in The Bible with mass- they call a piece of bread Jesus Christ- that is obviously a heresy and when Jesus Christ called bread His flesh and wine His blood He meant that metaphorically- it meant to take on Jesus Christ in our bodies and make Him our lord. When this happens The Holy Spirit enters us physcially
@zachfreedom644 Жыл бұрын
You show how little about the bible and catholics in general. A graven image is a false idol. Not any image. Like making a golden goat and worshipping it as God. Since the father in God has no physical form. The son Jesus does though. So it's not a false idol. And that is part of the first commandment not a separate commandment. Second who are you to say the eucharistic miracle is supposed to be a metaphor when Jesus commanded the apostles to repeat this practice. Jesus's body and blood are beyond that of flesh. It's his being as God is in all it IS his body. No translation says take this it is similar to my body, or it represents my body. The only metaphor is that Jesus was foreshadowing his crucifixion the perfect sacrifice for our sins. By this first sacrifice he his giving himself to us constantly to save us perpetually. So yes it IS his body and blood. Next you talk about the Bible and how it doesn't mention this or that but how would you know. By you fixation on the false second commandment your either Methodists or jehovas witness. Both of which are missing four books of the bible. I'm going to go with Methodists though cause the vast majority of jehova witnesses I know understand that there are more works by the apostles and letters that didn't make it into the bible like the letter from John that talks about Mary being taken into heaven body as a whole. Remember the Bible you read was negotiated at the council of nicea to unify the church and make a set a teachable line of works for the common masses but nothing was supposed to be thrown out like other Christian faiths do. We are supposed to study the other works as well to give us insight into the Bible.

Making requests to Saints in heaven is a long standing practice among Christians. It was a practice in the O.T. We know this from early Jewish literature, some of it noncanonical but nevertheless real. We also know this has been a practice among N.T. Christians. Some of the early Protestant evangelists practiced this. Look at John and Charles Wesley. They believed in not only praying for those who passed away. Charles Wesley said that prayers for those who had died made at least as much difference as praying for those who are alive. And he believed in asking intercession from Saints who had died. Others in the early Anglican tradition also believed this. The early Church believed in asking intercession from Mary and the other Saints. Inscriptions of of "Hail Mary" on church walls have been found by archeologists at least back to the 200s A.D. And even in the N.T. era it was not considered evil or contrary to Gods Word. We know this by the several references to that in 1st century Christian writings like the Book of Revelation. In Revelation 5:8 John speaks of the Elders in heaven receiving prayers from Saints on earth and giving them to God. Here we have saints in heaven receiving prayers from saints on earth and giving them to God. And later in the Book of Revelation we find the Saints on earth calling out to the Apostles, Saints and Elders in heaven and making requests to them. (The seaman, the captains on ships, etc called out for Saints in heaven to rejoice because of the Fall of Babylon.) Here we have saints on earth making requests to Apostles, Elders and Saints in heaven. No way are these activities presented as "necromancy" or any kind of prohibited behavior! But Protestants will cry out and say...."Well...this is only symbolic. It is not real." But that argument is silly because a real issue is the Protestant's presupposition that asking intercession from Saint in heaven is a kind of necromancy. Even if these passages in Revelation are merely symbolic, they show no evidence that it is wrong to make requests for intercession. Rather they show the concept was known in the first century church and not considered evil or disobedient. Rather it is something that is good and wholesome and even normative. When I was an evangelical, passages like that were not considered seriously, if at all. And the Biblical examples were even scoffed at when I was in Bible college. And in my close to 50 years as a Protestant I was never taught to Bless Mary. In her prayer in the Gospels, Mary said that all generations of humans would call her "Blessed." But I never blessed Mary as a Protestant, and certainly I never called her "Blessed or Blessed Mother." I was told "Mary was blessed "among women" and not "above women." But what other woman in the N.T. was said to be blessed by all generations? Obviously that gave her a prominent place among women. It is not an egalitarian statement that all women are equal in God's sight. Certainly saints have been pointed out in scripture as being outstanding and noteworthy. Take Hebrews for example where the folks who were sawed in two for the sake of the Gospel were mentioned as exceptional. Usually the attacks on Catholicism by evangelicals and fundamentalists show both a lack of understanding of scriptures and a lack of understanding of Catholic teaching. That is my conclusion after several decades of study and struggle. One factoid that I found ironic was that those who most strongly opposed making requests to heavenly residents, and who most strongly taught a separation between the earthly kingdom and the heavenly kingdom would stand beside me and sing the Doxology. Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Praise Him all creatures here below, PRAISE HIM ABOVE YE HEAVENLY HOST....... Even in their worship the most staunch fundamentalists would make requests to beings in heaven. Something to think about.

Catholicism only says honour her, venerate ( respect) her .. which she totally deserves! I do agree she wouldnt probably like it if you give her more than what she is.. like worship or replacing the Holy Triune God.. Catholicism clearly teaches worship only the Holy Triune God ...

Interesting but false. There are places in the Bible where it says saints can hear you and prayers ascend to them. Or maybe your Bible doesn't have Hebrews or revelation. I am not sure. Check your bible to see if it has revelations and get back. I agree prayers should be directed to the father. But we can have any Christian join us alive or dead.

You shall love the Lord with all your heart, with all your strength and with all your being. All the space that you have in your heart will be for Him, and so is your being and strength there is no space for anyone else.

Yea, I agree with this video 100%. I’ve read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation 3 times. And I’m in the process of reading it for the 4th time. There’s nothing in the New Testament that encourages believers to pray to Mary. Why would Jesus want us to pray to His mother when He said “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”? I bought a rosary to help me keep up with my prayer habit, but I don’t feel right praying to Mother Mary. It’s not Scriptural.

Asking the saints to intercede for us is like a prayer chain at church, but with some members already in heaven. They’re the ultimate prayer partners, cheering us on from above! The heart of the rosary is the meditations, and I encourage you to consider the "Scriptural Rosary" in which you read a verse of scripture before each Hail Mary. Your can find several versions for free online, or you can buy a small booklet. However, if you don't like the rosary, don't say it. There are lots of other Catholic devotions to choose from. That's why God made chocolate and vanilla!
