Great video josh . The vudoo is excellent and it’s what your saying it is . A trainer for centerfire . But they do seam to be more of a 300-400 -500 yard rifle . I love mine . Your cz is a extremely accurate rifle . Plus it’s the shooter behind it that we can’t overlook also . I think both rifles have there place and you are correct in saying you can do everything with the cz that you can with the vudoo and at a extremely lower price point . Thanks for the vid brother you are becoming a go to video reference when people are looking for certain answers.

I'm in the process of building a 457 action. I looked at all options of barrells, stocks and chassis. I'm building a very accurate squirrel rifle. I chose the cz mtr 20" nitride barrell. Mdt xrc chassis, kelbelys alumnium rings, and a z5 swarovski 3.5x18x44 scope. I will do some target grouping for fun. I got the factory trigger at 1lb. I polished action and bolt so smooth and this action is so nice compared to my 455 cz. Will try rws 38 grain hollow points. I've had great success with these bullets in my anschutz, ruger american target, and other cz my buddy owns, a 453 two stage trigger and a 457 sporter like mine, which is the one I'm using for this build. Received barrell, scope and rings and waiting for chassis. Got to use hollow points and it's hard to get good ammo in hollow point. Thanks for your sharing.

There are a lot of this vs or comparative reviews but i only appreciate yours and two other Channel’s take on stuff. There are others i watch just for entertainment but i always take what they say with a grain of salt. 👍🏼 If i had the money I’d get both but i like the cz more due to personal preference. Would probably use it everyday in my hunting and Shooting venture. If im going to shoot in a competition though ID most likely use the Vudoo or a Custom Annie. Occasionally though i would use the least easy to use Gun with a heavy trigger unbalnced and flimsy plastic stock although with premium optics. Just so that i would have to be forced to revert and pay attention tothe basics for it to shoot good so when i want to shoot serious target everything seems easier after. 😁

I would have liked to seen a scope cam with the Vudoo as well. with out the scope cam images you cant tell where the shot was released at. I own a lot of target rimfire rifle and some of my CZ will equal My Vudoo at or under 200 yards /meter but beyond that the Vudoo starts to out shine others. I can consistently hit at 400 with the Vudoo and I cant get any of my CZ to reach that with the same accuracy. It should always be noted lot matching and doing your / my part is a must for any rimfire regardless of the brand rifle.

Have you ever tested a Zephyr II? I was able to pickup one from Reeds for $750.00, I like hunting rifle styles and the light weight because I do hunt and I am older. Via a bag rest with Fiocchi 320 (1st place), Eley Match and Lapua Center X under .400 is frequent at 50 yards, best was .228. Even CCI Velocitors without excess wax/lube (rub it of) was sub moa. So far I put 14 different types of ammo through it, CCI fails to eject too often, I noticed all match rounds that are greasy have no issue and also shot the best. The bolt action is rigged/stiff (it's no Bergara, I have 2ea 22-250 HMR & SP 6.5 CR), and the bolt handle is a small flat spoon, odd but ok. It took time to get it down, but holy smokes a hunting rifle that shoots better or equal to most precision setups. Trigger is fixed at 2lbs clean break 1/8th inch take up (acts like 2 stage), hunter stock, (my prefered hunter scope zeroed at 75 yds for subs 1070fps, bulls eye at 100 with HV Eley, hold overs for everything else from 100-25) Athlon BTR 4-14X44 (place one of my Arkens on it < plus weight, I know smaller groups) and it loves all match ammo (all) tested to include to my surprise, plinking Sellier Bellot Club ($4.50 a box) and Eley Club ($8-10 a box), which SB will be the plinking ammo for it. The barrel never got hot, luke warm, it was 68 F. Besides it is a beautiful light rifle, if your patient at a great price. I have 2 Model 60s (retired show pieces :)), Savage Mark II TRR SR (bench LR) and had a Minimalist (hunting < daughter will have it by Xmas). I enjoy your no BS assessments unlike others pimping CCI, there is also hunting precision in my opinion, 1st 3 shots cold bore is my standard. Good luck with the channel, my buddy and I reference you all the time, your are the reason he has the 457 at one and the MTR in an at one chassis, with Arken SH G 2 6-24X50:) Yes, he is now jealous, I was but not anymore!

Hey Josh Awesome video as always Mate a great and fair comparison of the two rifles , I like the full size aspect of the Vudoo but if I was thinking of buying one I would be put off by videos I have seen the issues they have from new with failure to chamber and extract , I believe there is a bolt modification for the extract - eject problem but how permanent is that what is going to happen in time after the rifle has had the amount of rounds through it that your famous CZ has , paying $1800 US for any .22 caliber rifle I would expect it to be perfect out of the box and have confidence that I’m not going to issue in the future , on the other the CZ has everything I would want in a rifle , Great price , extremely accurate and a proven track record with no issues , I could be a little bias being a CZ owner but there is more to consider when purchasing a firearm than accuracy at 300 yards , just my opinion please don’t Lynch me , Aussie Steve .

I was lucky enough to start my journey into precision bolt action with the CZ 457 MTR. Addiction began. I'm a nerd. Have been recording statistics of outings (shooting 6 groups of 5 shots @ 50yds) since early 2020. All types of ammo. As the result of exceptional business last year was able to have Apache Machine in Wilkesboro build me a Vudoo Gen 2 with Krieger cut barrel and McMillan stock. Took delivery in late Aug. Right out of the chute it shot the best groups @ 50 over all prior outings with the CZ. 15% improvement in aggregate group size. BUT NOW I am watching you shoot lights out with your CZ rig. Is it the Lilja barrel? I am interested. Would love to see comparison of MTR barrel vs Lilja barrel. May cost me even more $$$. (Can't take it with you.) Steve @ Apache rocks BTW.

Josh, you touched briefly on 22lr ammo being potentially adversely affected by magazine-fed ammo. Do you care to express an opinion on single loading vs. magazine loading?

When I'm lot testing or shooting for my own purposes I generally don't shoot paper groups at those ranges. It's just a lot easier to hit steel and evaluate from the bench. I will be doing some extended shooting soon though Kamil

Are all of the 457 actions the same? If I plan on changing stock, barrel and trigger immediately, couldn’t I use the American as a starting point in lieu of the Precision Trainer MTR?

Great video yet again. I recently took possession of my CZ 457MTR here in Australia. I am running a Vortex viper PST Gen II 5-25X50 on a 15 MOA Area 419 rail with the Yo Dave trigger spring. The setup is currently housed in a MDT XRS stock. Lovely set up - HOWEVER! One thing I didn’t fully understand about the rifle before I purchased it was the MATCH chamber. I assumed the match chamber would make it more accurate across the board with different types of ammo. The opposite is true! It is significantly more fussy! This means that I am challenged to find a small game subsonic hollow point round that I am happy with. And this is primarily a small game rifle with some competition as a second focus. The CCI Subsonic rounds that other CZ love and is considered one of the most accurate small game rounds barely shoots and is incredibly inconsistent. Rifle loves SK and Eley. Any thoughts? BTW your channel is great. Long time follower now.

MY PERSONAL THOUGHTS ON THAT, FIND YOURSELF A LESS USED CZ VARMINT BARREL FOR IT, PROBLEM SLOVED.
@thegriff94253 жыл бұрын
@@Plainsimple67 I’m assuming that it’s the tighter tolerance headspace in the chamber that is giving me issues with some ammo. Does a varmint barrel headspace differently? I’ll have to go back and watch the IBI barrel comparison.
@Plainsimple673 жыл бұрын
@@thegriff9425 I'm actually kind of surprise your rifle does that, Because most mad chamber guns are inherently more accurate because their barrels are more polished and uniform comp is the uniform compared to the standard production barrels.
@thegriff94253 жыл бұрын
@@Plainsimple67 the rifle is ridiculously fussy. As far as I can tell, the only difference (aside from the stock) between a 457 varmint and a 457 MTR is the chamber, barrel is the same. Ammo is hard to come by where I live and it can’t be sent via post. I’m going to pick up some eley subsonic hollow point soon and will give that a go.

@@thegriff9425 yes, try whatever you can get your hands on Easley, you never know, the one you thought is the worst ammo, can turn out to be a hidden Gem for your rifle.🤷♂️

Josh, I am building a vudoo gun. What manners stock would you recommend? I like the prs-tcs but I am worried it may be too heavy. I also like the mcs-prs-1 because it looks like it is half the weight. It doesn’t have a thumb shelf and I don’t know if that’s a big deal or not. I don’t know what weight I need that is best. I know you deal with this all the time. Please just let me know what you recommend and I will go with your recommendation. Thank you in advance.

Josh I am very new to shooting 22lr. I would like to do a prs tournament but not many in my area. I live in Sugar Land Texas. I watched your video on apples to oranges and would love to have a gun to shoot like that from 50 to 200 yards. I just thought the vudoo would be the way to go. I am going to shoot at my local gun club and maybe try to find some prs tournaments to start shooting in. I think I would like it lighter because a 20 pound gun seems like I would be limited to only prs. I would like to have one that I could shoot the kyl like you do at 100 yards but still be able to do other things with it. I also like the cz but the vudoo comes with everything I need. Thanks for your thoughts and recommendations.
