Even with Steve’s medical problems he’s playing at an ultra high level.

Met him at the Texas Opry House in the late 70s, he was super nice to me. Gave me the WHAT IF album before it was released and talked about his guitar and the van they were in. He and Rod Morgenstein and Andy West, all super nice to a kid enthralled over the Dixie Dreggs.

Great guy, great guitarist, a thinker and Innovator. I love the thought put into his guitairs and signature amps. Clever stuff! Thanks for sharing 👍✌️😊👍

I remember seeing an earlier Rig Rundown where Steve discusses this guitar, and he said the folks at Music Man were totally baffled by the switching configuration he had designed. I saw Steve with Purple in 1998, and while I'd long known that he was incredibly gifted, what I saw that night totally blew my mind. As I said to the guy standing next to me, "Ritchie WHO?"

I would love it if Steve would have had his old Franken-tele laying around to show off. It was the inspiration that lead me to a lifetime of loading pick-ups into and modding telecasters.

@@jeffanderson8384 that's very cool my friend, I'm really actually surprised Steve never worked with Fender to build another one for nostalgia reasons if nothing else. Or replicate it for a Steve Morse signature series. I'm certain there's many Morse fans that would love to own one. I know his Ernie Ball does everything the Frank did but how cool would it have been to have Fender replicate it? There's nothing quite like a Strat or a Tele I wonder if that was ever considered? I'd love to be able to ask him

This man! Is among the likes of Les Paul, EVH, Brian May and any others that take what is and force it, mould it and shape it in to something that is new, ergonomic and ultimately better than what was offered. These people are my heroes. It’s these people that should be allowed to be let off the leash, and change the world.

Crazy timing. The other day, for some reason I remembered how in the '90s they would advertise this guitar in guitar magazines and I would just stare at the ad forever, wanting it. So maybe 3 days ago I randomly thought of that and was thinking that I should try to find some old photos of it, then this video came up on my KZbin and he said they still make the guitar even. Once again the universe is trying to make me spend money I don't have.

I was devastated when Blackmore left Deep Purple and it took me more than a few listens to get into Purpendicular, with the exception of Loosen My Strings and Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming which I loved immediately, and Steve's style but I now almost feel that he left a bigger void than Blackmore. Not only a virtuosos and well versed in many genres but hard working and such a team player. He made DP fun again. My admiration for this guy just keeps growing.

My top five: Billy Gibbons, Trevor Rabin, Steve Morse, Eddie Van Halen, Ted Nugent.
@markgarner27257 ай бұрын
Trevor doesn't get the acclaim he so richly deserves. I saw him with Yes in 1988, and his extended solo in 'Yours Is No Disgrace' was a masterclass. Off the top of my head, I'd have to list my Top 5 in no particular order as Les Paul, Tommy Bolin, Randy Rhoads, Jimi, David Gilmour, Jimmy Page, Peter Green and Jeff Beck. Oh, wait, that's eight. Oh, well. 😅

A friend left his EBMM Steve Morse in my studio for safekeeping. With his permission, I swap the pickup Selector for the single coil and the neck humbucker so that in the middle position, it will select the single coil, and in the the neck position, it will select the neck humbucker, as most of us will expect it 😂
