Realtime Landscape Architect, also branded as Uvision is the 3d design software I prefer for all of our landscape designs. It has been a super valuable tool that has allowed me to sell many more deck and patio projects when I can actually show the client what their design will look like.

Love the video, still having trouble with elevation and putting the house and hardscape on it. Please do a video on this subject, please please! I import the topographic information, lay in the contour lines, and when I start to build the house it all goes crazy! I am usually able to poke about and make it look right but I waste sooooooo much time doing this!

Thanks for the video Sean! I’ve been stumbling through punch landscape software for the last year and really couldn’t quite get comfortable with it. Tonight I downloaded uvision and immediately went to work... man it’s a night and day difference in both usability and material options. Looking forward to more videos. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video! I've been using the software for several years now and have never used the modeling features. I learned a LOT of other things too! Can't wait for more in the series. I found this video while also looking for help with terrain, which it seems like a lot of others struggle with this too. I've done it before, just want it to be easier! Haha. Just wondering if you have used the align tools? Just select multiple objects and right-click then use the align settings. Would help with spacing your stepping stones and hydrangeas if you want them evenly spaced quickly.

Loving your vids. I use fusion360 to model the scene, then export to twinmotion for the renderings & panoramic tours. Steep learning curve esp fusion but both are free to use & makes the product offering architectly better. Hope this helps.

Great video Sean!! I started using the program earlier this week and have been non stop on it since! One thing I’d like to know is if you’ve played around with the terrain tools and cutting a house into a hill. Also a side note and maybe you know this but holding shift while moving an object will move it in a straight line. Just a little tip if you didn’t know already. I noticed it when you were moving the pergola and the stepping stones. Just an observation and great video. I’m definitely looking forward to hearing about any feedback on the terrain tools and your experience with them!

Premier Outdoor Living yea we get some pretty steep properties even in columbus Ohio! So it’s a must for me. I’ll have to send you a couple of my renderings and get your feedback. I’ll DM you on Instagram if that’s okay. I’m beginning to slowly understand the terrain tools so I might be able to help. I’ve found it easier to use the contour lines than any other option and then drop your house into the terrain. The paint tool within the terrain tools is very helpful too if you need to make some minor adjustments but still need a lot of practice for sure. One thing I was working on this morning was trying to save screenshots. I know how to do it but for some reason the particular view didn’t get saved correctly so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Any suggestions to what might be happening?

Great overview thanks! if you were to build a pergola without the purlins would you do it the same only raise the 2x8s so theyre flush? I love the software...for the price, it's fantastic. One thing I kind of struggle with is terracing using the retaining wall and then cut terrain option. It cuts the terrain behind the wall but instead of grading at the top of the wall (which is kind of the point of a retaining wall), it cuts at the bottom of the wall. So Im just trying to figure out the best way of terracing using the retaining wall option. If youve figured it out, a video on that would be great. Thanks again!

You can check the box for "reverse cut direction". That should fix it.

Yes! It's great to trace plats of survey. Go to TOOLS - PICTURE IMPORT WIZ - In the click down menu, click OVERLAY.

There is! you can print out the plan version with all the measurements, but I still prefer to hand draw my construction plans for decks because its a lot quicker. I do know people that are creating their construction drawings with this software though

Sean, good job on the video. A lifetime ago I was commissioned to create training video material for a different program in the 3D CAD market, so I know what goes into it. Have you done any work with the lighting aspect of UVision/Realtime? That's what I need. I do landscape lighting. I have other software that I've used which has very accurate rendering for it, but it lacks the landscape symbology, and I have experience with a half-dozen programs which give me CAD or drawing tools but not much rendering of light the way real-world fixtures emit it. Not to mention the fact that some fixtures are meant to be hidden, while others are intentional focal points and visual statements, so you want accurate renditions of them, and you don't want to be limited to just one or two brands.

Hi great video, I’m just curious what kind of laptop do I need to run this software nice and smoothly? I have been planning on buying the real time software this winter. I’ve just been using IScape on my iPad for smaller jobs I’ve had, but I’m at the point where I need something more professional and lot more detailed. I’m kinda of clueless when it comes to the inner workings of computers and what processor and graphics card, and size hard drive I need and so on. You can also install parallels and then you can run on a Mac. That’s what I do.
