There is so much to unpack in this video. Where to start. You’ve had a lot of changes this year. And a lot of hardships. But in the end, you persevered and rose above everything in the very best way. You quit your 9-to-5 job in the corporate world. You moved to a new apartment. You trained for the New York city marathon. I know there were days you just didn’t feel like doing any of it. My best friend from college is from and still lives in Portland. The way you’re super grounded yet funny and irreverent does remind me of her and it’s so lovely to watch your content... You’re shot framing and how you’ve been filming things has been really cool! Even if it’s just your feet walking or almost straight up shots of the architecture. Been silent viewing your videos for quite a while. I got into them because I have a VERY similar life to yours but in London. 2023 really did bring us a lot of changes, some good, some bad but hey... all changes lead to growth and that's what counts. I felt too shy to leave a comment before but realised how much it means to you over this vlogmas. I didn't want to comment while you were doing shout outs because I didn't want you to get this with the wrong purpose. I almost feel like you're a friend. We could have been colleagues, we are the same age, corporate jobs, big city. I love that your content is so relatable. I love that I get to see a life that is not perfect but it's real, a good human being looking to navigate adulthood, looking for what the dream is, what home is. I think that's most of us and it's so important to sit down at the end of the day and see that THIS is normal life. Sometimes I feared I was lazy, but you brought it back to prespective that it just is, and it's fine. Sometimes I am too work-oriented, but our working hard made us be able to afford our very own flats this year, so that turned out to be great (congratulations, btw!). Thanks for mentioning how the holidays go traditionally for you, ending on Jan. 6. Here in the U.S., my family tradition of putting up the tree and decorating it on Christmas Eve, and then having it up throughout January (6) has been an anomaly, but I just love doing it this way. American custom to get that tree up as soon as Thanksgiving hits and then swoosh it all away immediately after Christmas, well... I don't know, I'm just glad I came from a (delightfully) weird family who did things a little differently, but really, in total synch with the meaning of the season in that classic, ages-old traditional way... I wonder how many Americans even know that, what the actual Christmas time frame is? Like, the Twelve Days of Christmas? Lol, oh well, we all have our ways.
