Instead of investing in a rigid Fork you'd be better off replacing the headset bearings and doing lower leg service and possibly new dust bushings on the fork

Switching out fork to winterize the bike and turning a mtb into a hybrid? Not worth the hassle. The best thing to do is get a cheap used 90s mtb and let it take the beating. Nothing really survives road salt. Studded tires are only worthy upgrades.

@@GoodBicycle good thing about used old bikes: you can lock it without fancy lock outside and no thief will still be interested in stealing it. It's just my opinion ofc. When it snows too much, it's often too dangerous to be walking, driving or cycling, so I stay at home. And businesses close down anyways.
