Crackers and chips do not keep very long. Missouri has so much humidity, that they go stale very quickly. However, they can be used for things like coating meats and veggies, or using in meat loaf. I try not to waste anything.

Crackers and chips do great here in Wyoming as we are very low humidity. I do try to eat crackers and chips by the best buy date because they do get stale.

Funny how we try to "hide" the favorite things and then the kids find them, tear the box open and then leave the little bit left in the box and still in the "hidden" place! LOL too funny.

Yeah! Great organizing. Totally fear of pressure canning and I need to get over it. I have broth and spaghetti sauce in the freezer so that would free up some room for the things. I have been on a mission to use up condiments lately so I have been mixing them for marinating meat and more but now all the stuff on the door moves. 😂 I love the canning shelves! So beautiful and functional.

Good morning! Thank you so much for tuning in! I used to be afraid of pressure canning and I just made myself buy a canner and start doing it. It has been so great to get items out of the freezer and shelf stable!! Oh the condiments...haha we just have so many! I am so excited to have the canning shelves and it inspires me to can more items to fill them up!! 😍😍

Marlene, if I had all the things you have in your prepper pantry I probably wouldn't need to grocery shop for those things within a year or two maybe 3 or longer. I have noticed a lot of people get the best by date confused with how long the foods would be actually good for.
@SnowGardener
@SnowGardener 2 жыл бұрын
It is so important to not waste money or food. I try really hard to eat most items before the best by date, but the items I have eaten have been fine. The secret is figuring out what your family eats, want to stock and how much. I have been doing a lot of tracking of items (food and nonfood) to see how much we actually use.

Thank you for your video. I only have eyes for your canner, .... so sad. I'm sick, SICK I tell you! I have five quarts and eight pints of potatoes in my canner now, just coming up to temp, .... OMG, ... your shelves, YOUR SHELVES!... where's my eyes now? SICK I tell you! You are miles ahead of the herd, .. just don't stop. I have a stuffed chicken in the oven, ... Yum, yum. PUMPKIN! ... I have 13 Pie Pumpkins on the porch and one large regular one. I'm going to try dehydrating Pie Pumpkin this year. The dehydrated Squash looks perfect. I just love those 15 bean soup mixes. AGGGHHHH!!!! I just checked the stuffed chicken and the dressing "exploded" out of the back where I had it all "sewn" up, looks terrible but tastes great, ... lol I broke the cardinal "rule" and put all my veggies in with the chicken. According to those who have never cooked a meal besides opening a can, I'm supposed to use a separate pot for every vegetable. I just say. "you do the dishes then", ... and not another word is said. Timer is ON! The fifty lbs of ugly carrots I bought from the factory for $5 made 64 pints of carrots but that's only a pint a week for 64 weeks. I'll hardly get fat on that. I'm dehydrating the second fifty pounds. The turnips will be sliced, peeled, and frozen. They freeze up so nice. I do nothing with the parsnips leaving them to freeze in the barn and taking one when wanted. If you have a local large animal feed store you might want to check them for bulk grains at a decent price. Whole wheat and oats kinda thing. Whole corn? DO NOT mention GMO free or organic unless you want to give them a good laugh, ... I know our Feed Mill has big bags of black oil sunflower seeds for birds and I hear they make great sprouts, ... but you'd want to check them closely and make sure they are not treated with anything. Most bird food isn't but you never know. Another hint, check the local bottle return depot for bottles and jars, ... then check again and bring chocolates this time, ... they'll remember and they train so well with chocolates. AGGHHH!!!! Have a great one and good luck.
@SnowGardener
@SnowGardener 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you as always for your wonderful comments! You have been busy busy!! Wow...what an amazing deal for those carrots!! Dehydrating and Freeze drying is on my list to get started on once I get all this canning done. I am amazed at what everyone is doing with their produce and proteins! Hmmm...I had not thought about a feed store! We do not have a local bottle return. Our recycling center does not take bottles...but I do find some jars at the thrift store every once and awhile!! This next year I am going to start researching more for farmer's markets and such near me.
@daval5563
@daval5563 2 жыл бұрын
@@SnowGardener You are welcome. I'm getting a bag of sunflower seed and sprouting some right away. If I like them I'll get more and if I don't, the chickens will have a feed. I'll let you know how they turn out. I know I love the Mung Beans I sprout and they come right from the store. Nothing special about them at all. BUT! I advise sprouting any bought seed to make sure they will sprout before buying a lot like I did, ... lol I only have about 15, or 16 regular quart jars left but all kinds of pints. That's three more full canners of potato then I'll focus on dehydrating whatever potato is left. I may even get more. I save the wide mouth quarts for meat. I can fit a whole (medium) butchered chicken into a quart. Boneless except the drumstick that I chop the knob off to expose the marrow and included it in the jar. I never include the skin in my canned chicken as it can be very overpowering. Specially over time. Eaten right away and you'd never know, but give it a year or two in storage and then you'll see. May the abundance of our world always be manifest in your life!

I’m impressed with all that you guys have done but lady when you put stuff like this showing everyone around you what you’ve got in your house you might as well open your front door up and tell everyone that’s around you come on in and help yourself! And a lot of people say I’ve got protection, but do you have enough for when the SHTF? You’d need a machine gun are about 20 double barrel shot guns! Cause you’re going to have hoards of people coming to your house especially if they are hungry!

Nice stick , but still questioning why would you want to broadcast to the whole country what you have. Just putting a bullseye on yourself 😢
