I tried this tonight and they were amazing!! I just want to share what to expect when you make them :) 1. I didn't have a microwave so I melted it using a small pot and I cooled it down just a little bit until I could tolerate the heat 2. I decreased the white sugar amount from 200g to 150g and I think it was too much. If you want to decrease the sweetness maybe 170g would be better 3. Make sure to whisk the sugar egg and butter mixture properly to have a smooth batter. I didn't do this and only noticed when all the ingredients were mixed together so I used a rubber spatula to crush the sugar against the sides of the bowl and it worked a bit. 4. My mom asked me to add almonds on top so we did and they tasted amazing Thank you for this wonderful recipe it was so fudgy and delicious!
@zzh06014 жыл бұрын
I agree with using less sugar
@SunnahTaqwa3 жыл бұрын
Hi tina, thanks so much for the tips! When u used 150g and felt it was too much, do you mean the reduction was too drastic and we should use 170g? Or that even with 150g you felt they were too sweet and perhaps we can use even lesser? Also, can you please share the size of your baking dish, and the time + temp you baked at? I'm worried because lots of folks are saying they were WAY too liquidy. Thanks so much!
@tinaong44223 жыл бұрын
@@SunnahTaqwa hello! I recommend 170g of sugar because 150g was too little sugar. It was a bit too bland at that point so more than 150 but less than 200. I don't remember how long I baked it but I just followed the recipe on how long and how high the temp is. I hope this helps!

John: I made these last night and shared them with my friend from Charlotte well she was visiting in town for our 60th birthday celebration. She loved them. And so did her niece, so I will keep this in the permanent brownie file as a new number one most delicious brownie recipe ever! I should mention that I added 3/4 of a cup of chocolate chips and one cup of walnuts. And since I didn’t have a special chocolate powder, I just used the Hershey’s. They were decadent; And so decadent, that they were gone in less than 24 hours. Thank you for another wonderful recipe. Keep on baking🥰

First time making brownies from scratch, and let me tell ya, I'm never using box mix again!! This was so rich and velvety. I used an 8 by 8and the 6 slices were THICK, and really dark. I used a 22% fat cocoa powder, made this extra delicious. I did cut the amount of white sugar in half, and I'm glad I did. Would have been too sweet if I didn't. You can add so many things to this, but it's lovely on its own, with a scoop of vanilla.

This came out really well. Only thing, we didn't use chocolate at all. And we halfed the recipe. So instead of 3 eggs, we used one egg and 2 tablespoons of milk mixed with a few drops of vinegar (buttermilk is a good replacement for egg; also, we try to be as eggless as possible because we don't like the smell of egg permeating through each bite). The quality of cocoa powder is SUPER essential. We used Hershey's Special Dark (which is basically Dutch cocoa and if you are in India, and you find it expensive, buy it off Amazon; it's cheaper online. That's what we did). And we used vanilla essence (because extract is expensive and we are not able to find a good brand which is well reviewed; Sprig (in India) has gotten mixed response) which was strong enough to mask the egg smell. And yeah, we didn't use any chocolate pieces because we didn't have it at home. And we halfed the recipe because we didn't want to take a chance and make all that batter only for it too fail. (that happened the last time we made brownie - not this guy's recipe; was someone else - and it was sad to throw it away; though we used chocolate compound and not chocolate which may have caused for the dish to suck). Anyway, without chocolate pieces, it came out really well. Fudgy, tasty, and perfectly cooked. Only that we kept fiddling with the temp to get it right- 180 C for 30 min and last 5 min on 200 C. And here's the list of ingredients when halved - 1. 1/2 cup - brown sugar 2. 1/2 cup - white sugar 3. 1 egg + 2 TBSP of milk + 1/2 teaspoon of vinegar 4. 6 TBSP of cocoa powder 5. 1/2 cup flour 6. 1/2 cup butter 7. 1/2 TBSP coffee 8. 1/2 TBSP vanilla essence Hope this helps you. And happy baking (yes, it came out really well. Trust me. :D) P.S sites we referenced for these measurements; 1. Egg replacement: www.biggerbolderbaking.com/egg-substitutes-for-baking/ 2. How to cut down a recipe: www.delish.com/kitchen-tools/kitchen-secrets/a33596177/how-to-cut-down-a-recipe/

Update: we used 6 x 6 square inch the first time and definitely needed that time but if you're using 8 x 8 inch and halfing the recipe like we did, 20 - 25 min should be totally enough.
